Purchases of the month: June 09

Sorry if I haven't been active lately, I've been working my ass off. I'll try to comment on all of your blogs soon. The last couple of months almost made me broke, and it doesn't look like my wishlist of games is getting any shorter. What's a gamer supposed to do?

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Anyway, I got my hands on [Prototype]... (Why is it in parentheses? ) It's a lot more mindless, violent and generic than inFamous. It plays like a sort of sandbox game on steroids... Your superpowers let you take the shape and abilities of anyone you absorb. So it's like GTA, but instead of runnin', drivin', shootin', you'll be morphin', cuttin' and glidin'. The story is your usual 'Top-secret governmental human weapon project turned wrong! You have amnesia! Go look for people that were involved in the project to learn about your mysterious, dark past before finding out that it's all one big conspiracy!'. Oops, spoilers. Pretty kewl game, if you're looking for some mindless, stupid dumb fun.

And I also got Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor. Don't know what else to say other than... it's a SMT game. But don't get me wrong; it's by no means a bad thing... the story is captivating, the characters are interesting and well-developed. Music is catchy and memorable. The game's atmosphere is gritty, dark and convey emotions very well. The combat and customization are deep and complex. Raising your ultimate army of demons is extremely addictive and satisfying. In other words... it's a SMT game.

Oh, and I've been playing a lot of Fallout 3 lately, and I mean a lot. Like over 150 hours in only 2 weeks. Can't wait for the GOTY edition to come out. And that's all for this month, see ya laterz!

    Happy birthday to me!

Now, show me your presents... or GTFO.

    Just kidding... or am I?

Oh, and free cookies to whoever can guess my age.

Kinda busy at the moment, so I'll keep this blog short. See ya later, homiez!

    E3 2009 megablog

The Electronic Entertainment Expo is back and bigger than ever (Or at least, as big as it used to be)! Megaton bombs are being dropped left and right, as everyone is trying to 1-up each other, it finally feels like good old E3 again.

I hope everyone is having fun. Personally, I've been enjoying every second of it. Here's some of the stuff that really impressed me:

One thing I don't get is why they're even attending E3 in the first place. They dropped out of the ESA, but they still want a slice of that pie? Pff...seriously. ...And where the **** is Blizzard?!

Modern Warfare 2 - ......Epic. From the ice climbing to the snowmobile chase, the trailer was intense. I can already feel the adrenaline just thinking about it. I wanna play it NAO!
    Prototype
    - Shapeshifting superpowers. Arm blades. Gliding. This game = cool
    Singularity
    - Game looks badass. You can manipulate the time of objects and even turn people to dust. How sweet is that?

Atlus is my favorite game developer. I was sad to learn that would be skipping last year's E3, but they are finally back! Go Atlus!

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor - It's a new SMT spinoff, so I'm not sure what to expect. I've still to see any gameplay footage, but from what I read, it sounds like it's shaping up to be another great game by Atlus.
    Shin Megami Tensei: Persona
    - So glad they are remaking it, I never got to play this masterpiece. Atlus is the best.

Lots of sweet game from Capcom, too bad Ace Attorney Investigation isn't among them. I just wish they could've shown Dead Rising 2 ...stupid swine flu!

Lost Planet 2 - Gorgeous graphics, giant boss monsters, online co-op. Hopefully, they won't screw up the PS3 version this time.
    Resident Evil Portable
    - I already own the first game 3 times, but hey... They're designing this specifically for the PSP, so it might be cool, right?

Electronic Arts' press conference was boring. Were they really expecting the EA Girls target market to be watching? At least they had cool games to show.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - Loved the first one. The new snow setting is cool, can't wait to play!
    Dragon Age: Origins
    - It's a BioWare RPG set in a fantasy world with multiple choices and consequences. If that isn't cool, then I don't know what is.
    Crysis 2
    - Crysis... for consoles. Only a logo was shown, but it's apparently going to push the PS3 to its limits. Hellz yeah.
    Mass Effect 2
    - From what I've seen, it looks like it fixes everything that felt lacking in its predecessor. Can't wait to import my hawt female Shepard and kick some Reaper ass.

Epic announcements from Konami. I only wish Gamespot broadcasted their press conference.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Big fan of the series. Plus, Kojima-san is making it.
    Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
    - One Big Boss was badass, but four of them is better.
    Metal Gear Solid: Rising
    - Huge megaton announcement, totally wasn't expecting this. Kojima sneaking behind Don Mattrick was funny, but someone needs to seriously work on their acting skills.

These guys had a solid press conference. The games were sweet, the new features were interesting. Some of the parts were boring, but thankfully, they were also short.

Alan Wake - Wow. This game reminds me of Silent Hill, but... even better. Didn't like the shooting parts, though. How do you expect players to be scared, if you give them the means to defend themselves?
    Halo 3: ODST
    - I always wished Halo didn't have the powerful, regeneting shields. ODST is basically that. You now have limited life, forcing you to use strategy and stealth, instead of charging head-on. I'm very excited for this game, more so than I ever was for any of the main Halo games.
    Halo: Reach
    - New Halo game by Bungie.

Their conference wasn't as disastrous as I thought it would be. At first, they went on and on about games and that I didn't care about and statistics. But in the end, they also announced a bunch of cool games that saved the show from epic failure.

Golden Sun DS - OMFG! Been waiting for a sequel for years, now it's finally in the works. Hope it comes out soon, I need my GS fix.
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story - This game takes place inside Bowser?! How weird, but then again, so is every installment in the series. I love the M&L combat system and funny humor, gonna be getting this one on day 1.
Metroid: Other M - WHAAAA... Team Ninja?! Making Metroid?! *Epic nerdgasm*
New Super Mario Bros. Wii - I've always wanted to play Mario with my friends or family, and now I can.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 - W00000000t!... More SMG goodness, Yoshi, new powerups and abilities... What more could you ask for?
The Legend of Zelda Wii - Though not officially announced, Miyamoto-san confirmed that Nintendo was working on a new Zelda for Wii.

Easily the best out of the press conferences this year. There was barely any bs corporate speeches, they started showing games almost immediately. Don't know why everyone

God of War III - Self-explanatory.
Gran Turismo 5 - Same here...
Gran Turismo Mobile - Dude? This game actually exists? Not that I'm complaining, I love GT.
Heavy Rain - Wasn't too sure at first, but after seeing the demonstration, I'm now totally sold on this game.
The Last Guardian - Team ICO's new game, 'nuff said. This could be the best game of the generation, cannot wait.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - The demo really impressed me. The game looks gorgeous, the new female sidekick is hawt and good old Nate is as hilarious as ever. I. Want. This. Game.
White Knight Chronicles - Level 5's latest RPG. You can make an avatar and stuff and have him join party and transform into a colossal knight, Power Rangers styIe

Another publisher that has announced cool stuff. Their press conference was pretty lame, though. All they did was talk about their new MMO and answer people's stupid questions.

Final Fantasy XIII - Glad it finally got an official North American release date. The English VAs were kind of a turnoff, however...
Final Fantasy XIV Online - Didn't see this one coming! XIII isn;t even out and they've already announced XIV, their newest MMO. I seriously hope it won't have monthly fees.

Assassin's Creed II - I wasn't too excited at first, but now that I've seen the improvements they've made, I'm totally stocked. Swimming, flying, new weapons, double blades, notoriety and economy system... They've improved so much upon the first game. ACII is gonna rock!

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Convition - Sam is back and he's totally pissed. He's gone completely rogue and is now ruthlessly murdering anyone that gets in his way. The new 'Mark & Execute' feature is awesome (And totally overpowered). Another awesome game that I'm highly anticipating.

Now that I listed all the cool stuff, I want to talk about the bad stuff -- the crap. here is the top 5 worst of E3 2009:

    5. Joel McHale - His jokes were absolutely terrible. I don't think he even realizes it, but the audience wasn't laughing at his jokes... they were laughing at him.

    4. The Ubisoft conference lag - Have you ever tried to watch a video that freezes every 2 seconds? It's horrible. Had to endure that during the whole 1 hour conference. Glitchspot just reached a new low.

    3. Project Natal - I just don't get it. Voice and face recognition is neat and all, but what's all this bs about no controllers? We need to move the industry forwards, not backwards. People whine about controllers being too complicated, but the irony is, they can use TV remotes which has 3 times more buttons. I didn't buy my Xbox 360 to do this:

    2. Activision sues over Brutal Legend - As you may or may not know, Activision used to be Brutal Legend's publisher. But then, about a year ago they decided that it wasn't worth it and dropped it. The developers then went and found a new developer -- EA. Now, Activision wants it back and filed a lawsuit against EA. What a bunch of crybabies...

    1. James Cameron - What part of 'game convention' do you not comprehend? Show us the games or GTFO.

And that's it. *Whew* Looking back, I can't believe I typed all that nonsense. Betcha 5 bucks no one's going to read the whole thing.
