  The Cult Userbase

  Are you part of the CU? the Cult Userbase. A group of gamers who think they are so cool. The either own a 360 or PS3. They continually look down and diss the Wii. They judge the Wii by what devs have produced on it(shovelware, crap casual). They also pigeonhole the Wii into a "kiddy/casual corner and really want to have you bbelive a machine that does the same thing either of the two machies then own do OR both is really ONLY for a certain age group and is not for them or anyone in that same age group who plays a certain type of game/genre of game.

  Futhermore... As a Wii only owner I must say this...

  The Xbox360 has amasing compelling games.

  The PS3 has amasing compelling games.

  Games I cannot play on Wii and I won't get them with that 720p or 1080 visual joy.

  So what do I expect?

  Let me take you back one gen.

  Remember Xbox1, PS2, Gamecube era?

  What was the situation then? The claim was Xbox1 was so far ahead in power, yet on the PS2 developers pushed the system to its limits to keep up with the Xbox(more particularly) and Gamecube. Yes gamecube remember that system?

  Remember multiplatform games...Xbox1 version usualyl had the better grahics PS2 was trying to hold its own...and gamecube games usualyl were better than PS2 ones...if by that bit... Actually many games since they weer developed for PS2 were ported to gamecube or Xbox1 too I think and actually performed better on the PS2 version as devs didnt really take advantage of the Xbox or gamecube versions.(it all comes down to devs you know)

  The PS2 won last gen because? Was it the best system overall?[In terms of the hardware specifics] That is arguable...in fact it may have been the worst on those terms...it might of been last gens 360 so to speak with its issues. Disc Laser issues was PS2 short coming and RROD is the 360s.

  The gamecubes shortcoming I know you want to hear that (besides "looking like a lunchbox" and being the wrong launch color - purple and not having an online network system like Xboxlive - though it was online capable and only had like 1 or 2 games with support )....the biggest shortcoming was actually in the end a LACK OF THIRD PARTY GAMES SUPPORT which offed the system in the end...regardless if Nintendo kept it afloat mostly on there own..which is an amasing feat. But then what range of games would there be on that system.... not much. The PS2 won becasue it had the games. SIMPLE AS THAT.

  Lets be honest here...quality third party support is what always makes or breaks a system. Where the games are is where gamers will go to get their fix.

  Here in lies the issue with the Wii today. Sure from the start third party support for the Wii was already way better than with gamecube(actually having support was a huge thing lol) last gen but the kind of support and the kind of product that they made for the system from the get go has really put the Wii in this corner that I am afraid it won't recover from.

  What a shame and a waste that would be as in 2010 Wii followers and claimers to the motion control throne? arrive in Microsoft Project NATAL and Sony's Wand controller which reminds me of a certain controller? hm..

  Now let me just say this. I am a gamers gamer. Yes i do have the Wii Sports, The Wii Fit and the Wii Sports Resort too. These games DO demonstrate the unique interactive experience that motion controls can provide to gaming over using only the traditional gamepad and in many cases it shows the gamepad is soon to be if it isn't already yesterdays news to be quite frank OR at least on its way OUT with changes! (usher in 2010)

  But the problem in this industry is not only is there this cult that is so anti-Wii I think there are devs that are anti-Wii and have been so from the start.

  But there are Wii exclusives you say....so what. Look at hthe real situation. Yes there have been many great Wii games and some of these games flopped really hard. Even just this year when it seems finalyl devs are making an effort, games flop.

  Maybe the 3 year habit can't be overturned overnight?

  The attitude they give off when it comes to Wii has always been half assed or negatve in some way and it shows in the products they make/made for Wii

  We all know Wii wasn't made to be HD. It is not that Nintendo could not make it HD it was a decision for one to make it cheaper and mass market while still being powerfull enough to please the core audience which they know well. As well as the HD TV market not being more than the SD at that time.(not so much now)

  Well why have we seen such bad use of Wii hardware. Half assed ported and gimped watered down games as a representation of what the Wii is about. Then you have this cult of gamers who continually dissed it because of that. Continually called it a fad. Year after year it continued to outsell it HD counterparts and still they continued.

  I wonder if this "Cult Userbase" will consume and praise NATAL and Sony Wand in 2010 as the best things since sliced bread, because that would make them extremely hyprocritical with the things they said/continue to say about the Wii.

  Yes, that's what I am calling such gamers. The CU (see you) as soon as I mention I own or play a Wii and they claim it has NO "GAMES" as in "gamers games" I will not try to explain to them of third parties attitudes when it comes to Wii Support with such games in comparison with how they treat 360/PS3.

  I will simply put them in the Cult Userbase booklet.

  Case closed?

  Wii Plus+(or Wii HD) ; ]

  

  Is super analyst Michael Pachter right? Wii Plus in late 2010? Wii SD and Wii HD(Plus+) in the market at the same timelikethe DSLite->DSi are, as the DS Phat->DSlite were and as the GBA & DS Phat once were?

  Giving incentive for users to upgrade to the new HD hardware much like they have done in the portable space as I have (trade in old hardware get half price discount on new ..somthing like that)...and perhaps they will then drop the standard def Wii price and charge a price for the new Wii PLus(HD) lower than the current Wii price(and bundled with Wii remote, nuchuk and motion plus)?
