  I miss the old Gamespot!

  Sometime early 2008, possibly even 2007 they changed the format of this site. It's really too bad because Gamespot was the most streamlined best site out there bar none.

  It seems that was abandoned for a more ad centric site following the Gamespy format. IMHO it really took allot away from the site. Since it's been a while I wanted to document several of the features I miss before I forget.

  1. Navigation - What I really enjoyed about the old format was when you were in a game review you had a second sub menu at the top that listed reviews, preview, downloads, etc. You felt like you game review was an actual sub-section that could stand alone with its own distinct inner navigation. The new format feels disconnected and is confusing. Primary review navigation is too low on the left had side with some nav elements on the left and a few odd ball ones (track game) integrated into the title. The new navigation is cool, but not user-friendly.

  2. Another thing was the user immersion elements. One I can think of was how your Gamespot level was always displayed on the left (I think). Point is you saw your level each time you logged in. I would always want to post more or review a few more games when I was close to getting a new level.

  In conclusion I love Gamespot and want it to be the best!
