Hey everyone,
Originally, I was going to be creating a 3D animated short for the Evolve CG contest but it seems like that might be put on hold now. I'm currently involved in two new monetary projects that will require more time, plus I'll be doing more work on the puzzle game. Hopefully, I'll be able to post up some of the work that I've been doing soon. I'm still going to Do the character Modeling for Claire Beaumont, the Komodosapien and a few animations sequences. The environment modeling, texture work and lighting will be have to wait.

I mean seriously, it has gone by very fast. I feel like January was only a few months ago and the amount of work I've put in this year has been insane! I remember when my parents use to tell me when I got older that time would start going faster and they were not joking. Hell, I'll be 24 in a few more months @___@
Also, everything with my career has been spinning faster then I thought it would too. I remember when I could barely find work and now I'm up to my neck in it
Beside the 3D models for my Evolve CG entry, I would like to create some more character when I have the free time. But like I said earlier, I'm doing more 2D work and studying colory theory to help solidify my drawing skills.Well how have all of you been doing?

Here are two of the latest Fan Art pictures that I have finished:

For a while atleast, I'll probably be doing more of these in my spar time. After working on a game all, the last thing I want to do sometimes is play one

Hey everyone,
Here's another illustration that I worked on, while I had some down time. I had A LOT of fun drawing this one:
Uknowhowwedo - By David J Barnes
Any comments or crits would be greatly appreciated and I'll be updating this picture on my site. I'm almost enjoying this more than I do animating

Besides the usual animation and modeling work at the studio, I've been doing more concept art for the Evolve CG Hunter Challenge. I plan on making a few collages of my progress within the next week (It's a good thing I'm built for multi-tasking, lol). I'll be posting more of my artwork soon

Hey everyone ^___^
I've posted one of my concept designs for the Evovle CG Contest on my website and deviantart. Here's the concept art for Claire Beaumont I posted on Deviant Art . Also, here's another Illustration that I worked on for Dj Micha.
For the last few weeks, I've been mainly working on multiple projects and have been pretty busy. But whenever I have some down time, I like to make more Illustrations and sketches now for more practive. I've been focused on doing 3D work for so long that I've almost forgot how a good conceptual piece can make your work even better. I can't wait to announce the game that I'm working on, once I get the okay from my boss too.
Well, expect to see a few more concepts and illustrations from me in the next few weeks and I'll see you all later ;-D

In between me doing concept sketches for the Evolve CG contest, I've been working on a few fan art pics. I started on the one for Ibuki yesterday evening and finished it this afternoon. I'm trying to get better at illustrating. I also did some tweaks to my Rose fan art too. Any feedback her or on deviantart would be greatly appreciated

Well this last week has been very exciting and rewarding for me. I'll start off with what happened at the GDC first. I got three job offers when I was there. One was a graphic design job offered by a Devry Institute employee. The second job was to work on a puzzle and unannounced RPG game. The third job is working with a company that makes sports games. I'm currently speaking with each company, so I can weigh out my option. I also learned a lot about the gaming industry, got to network with some veterans and got tips on how to make my portfolio stronger. I really had a great time :-D
I also went to Jacksonville on sunday to watch a Jaguars home game with my dad. I had never been to a football game before, so It was a pretty awesome experience. Watching a game in the stadium is so much better then on T.V
The traffic on the drive there wasn't that bad either.
Now that I'm back, I'm going to be doing some more personal projects and picking up on the sculptures I started. It was nice to visit Austin, TX but I'm glad that I'm back home.- Posted Sep 22, 2009 12:35 pm PT

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to let everyone and all of the officers in my union know that I will be gone for the next few weeks due to personal business. Unfortunately, I probably won't have access to the internet, but I'll try to find a way to log in and check on some things. So for the all the officers in the UMGU, I'll really need your help, since I won't be available for a while.
I've updated my website with some more 2D illustrations that I had worked on prior and I'm currently working on more animations to put on the site. There are also two sculptures that I've been working little bit by little bit on, so I'll be touching up on those two. The Sueng Mina character that I modeled earlier is currently in the works for having her own 3D short. I've just got finished doing all of the environment modeling and texturing today and I'll be working on the lighting and some key frames of animation tomorrow.
Next week, I'll be attending the Gamer Developers Conference in Austin, TX to network with some of the professionals in the gamining industry. I already have my business and portfolio ready. Now the only thing I'm getting checked out is my car, just to make sure it'll be ready for the trip from Florida to Texas.
Until the next time I talk to everyone, Be safe and god bless.- Posted Sep 8, 2009 10:13 pm PT

Yea, I've been so busy the last couple of months that I just had to take a little break. So a few days ago, I finally watch a movie called "The End of Evangelion" that I had bought from Blockbuster a week ago. And after I watched the movie to help fill in the gap that the last chapter in the anime left, I decided to back track and watch the 26 anime episodes. I was very pleased on how accurate the anime was to manga and didn't leave out too many details. I don't watch alot of animes or read many mangas, but this story is definitely one of my all time favorites.
Needless to say, it was just great to have some time to relax and enjoy a good Anime (For me, that's hard to come by). It will be business as usual for next week, but for now, I'm just gonna take some time to recoup myself- Posted Aug 27, 2009 9:02 pm PT

Hey everyone

This past week has been a busy, but great week. The first thing on the agenda is that I've gotten a chance to go back home to hang out with my family again for a few weeks. I left Tampa last Sunday from there I'll either be headed to Texas, California, Georigia or Canada
. I also plan on going to the GDC (Game Developers Convention) in Austin this year, so I can network with other companies. There will be TONS of exhibits to hit up, so I'll be having my portfolio and resumes ready.Speaking on which, I've been working on some motion graphics for a client in Tampa who wanted me to composite a DVD for a workout video. Also, I got 3 email reply's from different companies for job offers ( one is a client for a movie trailer, a position as an animator for Sony, an animator postion in Vancouver, BC). I've sent replies to all of these jobs about 3 days ago and I'm going to follow up on them all this coming Monday. I'm REALLY hoping that I get a response back from someone soon.
I've also updated my website, with a new animation for Asura, along with some banner changes in the Home and Animation sections. I also finished compositing some of the 2D animations that I've done, but I'll have to go through and add some more betweens for the keyframes. This last old project that I have left to replace is the Sonya Spy one for Seung Mina
Once I've finished that animation, then I'll completely have all of my works updated. I'm also working on two sculptures to put on my site and I'll try to have them up by the end of next week. Another thing that I'll be adding to the site are more 2D stills. Right now, the sections looking slim, so I've got to beef it up.I also finally put my work on my deviantart page, that I haven't used since I got it two years ago
I've also posted my work on cgtalk as well, to get more exposure.Well I'm about to take myself to bed, but I'll keep you guys posted on what happens with the job opportunities.

I was just reminiscing today and I was thinking about what GS was like when I first joined back in 2006. The designer forums use to be packed with designers, most of my friends would post daily and it seemed like there was so much more to do here. But now that everyone's starting to branch out and do other things with their lives (I'm no exception either
), GS just doesn't feel like it did almost three years ago. Maybe I'm one of the only people who feel this way, but it seemed like 2007-early 2008 was the golden age for me and GS. I swear, my post count use to be somewhere around 100-200 a day XD
But long as I've got a few people I still stay in contact with, that's cool with me

Yea, I've been done w/ school since March, but IADT only hold's their ceremonies once a year. I got a chance to talk to some old friends, take a crap load of pictures and swap a lot of business cards. Siggraph is tomorrow and I wish that I would have been able to go. But since I've got freelance work I've got to finish here in Tampa, I'll have to wait until next year. Oh well, there are always other conventions I can go to and network with.
I also had an interview with BOSE sound this past thursday. When I came in the inverview and showed them my work, they said that they were impressed. The job is for me to work on an infomerical on how BOSE sound tools can help Video Game Designers, design there games more effeciently.
Oh, I also updated the render for my stills with Webber and Gramps. When I updated my portfolio for the interview with BOSE sound, I updated all of my stills. Currently right now, I'm re-vamping my demo reel with 360 views for two of my newer character models and I'm removing the Sonya Spy and older Asura models from the reel. I also worked on a few sculptures a while ago and I'll be posting those up soon.
But for my agenda, I still have a few other things I want to get finsihed this week:
1) Update the animations for the Run, Jump, Drop and import the animations into Asura
2) Upload my 2D animations (which I still haven't done
)
3) Send the link for my website to a list of over 50 employers. But going back to graduation, I'll probably have the picture from graduation posted soon on my facebook page. I'll post another blog next week, to let you know how everything with BOSE sound went (But I'm confiden't I'll get the job

Hey everyone,
This month has been ridiculously busy for me, but I'm glad that I've gotten so much updated for my website and portfolio. When I first posted my website, it hosted a lot of older 3D works that I had completed but not too much of my newer works. The Sonya Spy and Old Asura 3D models were from more then 2 years ago and really didn't show what I can do now. That was mainly because of the work I was doing with MG studios for the video game and with other freelance projects. But now, I'm glad to finally be able to get rid of all of my older work and post my new renders. If you've noticed the Seung Mina character was designed to replace the Sonya Spy character that I did and the new Asura render that I posted today will replace the older one.
But enough of going down memory lane, you can click here to view the image and the link above to view my gallery. Also, I'm currently redoing the animations for Asura and I will be adding some previous 2D animations that I have worked on for the site as well. Hopefully, I'll be able to finish the animations for asura and post my 2D animations by the end of this week. My goal is to get as much updated on my website, before I send link to it for other employers.
I'll talk to all of you guys later, seeya ;-D

I modeled another 3D image for my site. Click here to view the link for the image. I modeled this image to replace the older Sonya Maelstrom model that I made two years ago. Also look out for a remodel of the Asura character model too.
I'm currently updating my website and portfolio, because there are a lot of new CG jobs that have opened up. Hopefully, I'll be able to get all of my 3D models, 2D animation and other projects done by next week. Not to mention, I'm still doing other freelance jobs, so I've been very busy.
Well until next time, seeya everyone

Hey everyone,
Well, this year has been very busy for me. I'm done with my freelance contract with MG studios for the Nintendo Wii game and the rotoscoping, so now I'm currently dong freelance work for other clients and I'm helping in the development of a church website. I launched my djammal.com site on June 27th and redirected the page from my old djammal.webs.com address to my current one. I've got all of my animations, some model and 2D drawing posted on the site now, but I'm adding more as we speak. I've also been posting the link to my site in as many cg forums and resume's as possible.
I'm still looking at other companies, where I can provide more long term contracts and a lot of the jobs seem to be pointed toward Cali. But I'm open to working anywhere else in the country right about now
Once I got an opportunity to work with motion capture for the first time in the green room, I've been intrugued ever since. I even got a chance to wear the MoCap and film for motion capture footage. I was currently working on a character to drop the animation in, but I've been more occupied with getting my site up, along with other models I started. Besides, It'll be better for me to be well-round in other aspects of animation. If you've got facebook, myspace or MSN messenger, don't hesitate to to hit me up and keep me updated on what you guys are up to. Until next time, Be easy everyone

Hey guys,
I've been busy but I've been also enjoying myself for these last few months. I finally got a chance to work on an animation for a game coming out for the Wii (which I can't talk about due to disclosures, until it's released), did rotoscoping for commercials and other projects. I just graduated college on March 23rd and I've been doing freelance and studio work for MG Studios. I finally got a vacation around the end of April, so I'm just trying to enjoy myself before I start grinding again.
I've currently been apply for positions at Ignition Entertainment in Gainesville, FL and EA sports, Vancouver. Also, I've been revamping my demo reel for my employers. I've got a free website up at the moment , but I'm soon going to have davidjammalbarnes.com up. Right now, I can't even download of my videos on it because of the file size. I still haven't purchased a godaddy.com domain yet (Sheesh, I've barely had time to breathe, lol). I'm going to be updating the site with my demo reel and 3D short that I finished back in March.
I also got myself an XBOX live account, if anyone wants to play me online. I'm on vacation, so right now, so I've got freetime. I'm currently playing Street Fighter at the moment. Also, I'm uploading some videos of my Webber&Gramps short and demo for you to view (if it ever downloads on gamespot). Once the game I've worked on releases, I'll also some clips of the animation that I did.
Well until next time, everyone be safe, don't be a stranger and hit me up

Yep folks, I'm now 23 years old. For my birthday, I just spent most of my time at home and had quality time with my fiance'. I was thinking about going out, with all the Pre-Super Bowl parties going on in Tampa, but I've partied for sooo long that those things don't excite me as much. I will be going to a Super Bowl party tomorrow though.
Everything's going good with the work at the studio and I've been pretty busy, with the exception for today. So once again, everyone be easy.

Hey everyone,
It's been a while since I've been on Gamespot, but I've been really busy with numerous things. The first thing I wanted to mention is that my Demo Reel and 3D Short are now finished! I've also a few pictures for some 3D Models I did:
Webber
Full Size:
Gramps
Full size:
Sonya
Full Size:
I'm also going to upload my website in a few days, so you can see the character animations for these model and a few others. I've also been busy at MG Studios, doing animations for an upcoming game (due to disclaimers I've signed, I can't give out any info about it) and have working on a few other freelance projects.
I've also stopped making signatures under my tag name djammal86, because I've had too many people steal it and take my artwork. So I'm going to start watermarking everthing with my name and website (when I upload it on my host). Well people until next time, just PM, message me, hit me up on MSN messenger or Yahoo.

Hey everyone,
I've been really busy these last few months with getting my 3D short finished and also my website. I'm currently working on illustratios for a book, written by Daniel Barnes and also designing a website for a home cleaning business in Brooklyn, NY.
I've got my 3D short called "Gramps and Webber" finished, but I still have to upload it somehow on youtube, before I post it on my website I'm making. I'm also doing two other versions of the short, with different textures and a more stylized evironment.
For my Demo Reel, I'm actually redoing some of my older works and touching up on some others. I saw a few lighting and frame composition issues I wanted to change.
You guys will probably start seeing a little less of me, once I get all of my projects off the ground.Well until next time, be easy everyone
