I think that God doesn't want me to play this game...
Okay, damn, on the second of this month, Gamefly shipped Super Paper Mario and, for some reason, the game never seem to come. Two days ago (the eleventh) I reported this to them, so yesterday (don't know how to spell 12st) they shipped me another copy. Today (the thirteenth)I recieved what is most likely the original one they shipped. Before playing it though, I contacted them saying what had happened. After doing so, I happily inserted the game into the system. The system told me "disc cannot be read". Ooookay, maybe it's in the wrong way or...there's a scratch. Crap.
Well, let me tell you, that wasn't any kind of scratch I've seen before. The disc look like it was moments away from being snapped in two. So, hopefully, this is actually the original one they shipped (I seriously doubt it's the one shipped yesterday) and I'll recieve a hopefully un-scratched one. But, really, this is the point where onesays to oneself, "Why God? Why do you insist that I not play this? Why do you deny me something I wish to play so badly?".
Also, Gamefly, I appreciate the fast, effective customer service, but seriously; you guys really need to inspect your games before blindly shipping them to unsuspecting gamers. Youcould save a lot of peoples'time just by executing this very simple task.

Laziness should be a crime...
Wow, how many months has it been since I blogged? Like, 5-6? Amazing, my inability to do things that don't involve actual thinking still amazes me. Again, several, SEVERAL, things have happened since I last wrote. I stopped playing WoW, FINALLY got my cords back (but...then my new power brick malfunctioned...the irony is only matched by the hatred bestowed onto me by ethereal forces, for whatever reason), got a WII!, and went to college. Boo.
Here's a quick tip: ifthere's acheaper alternativeto something else that you've totally relied on, chances are, its not nearly as good. You probably knew that already, but it's something I've come to learn full well. I subscribed to "GamezNFlix", a service which, on the outset, looks like a cheaper, better, less stylish version of Gamefly. In the course of about two months, I learned that on the inside, it's a lot less good, too. Or really, not good at all. They claim that items are "in stock", but then don't ship them. The site interface is ridiculously glitchy, shipping times are crap, I could go on. Gamespots' motto for bad games is "don't play them", my motto for bad rental services is, obviously, "don't use them". I switched back over to Gamefly just a week ago and I'm already enjoying the hell out of Elite Beat Agents (would be enjoying Super Paper Mario too, if it weren't for STUPID-ASS COLUMBUS DAY, you just had to discover the USA, didn't you, you stupid bastard). It turns out trading DS games for DVDs really wasn't even close to worth it.
Speaking of that, Elite Beat Agents is actually an extremely evil game and I urge you not to play it. You won't escape, I guarantee you. You'll come back, get your ass kicked, and then come back for some more. It's nuts. And now I've got that horrible "Let's Dance" song stuck in my head. That song makes me want to KILL SOMEONE. GOD. LEARN TO FRIGGIN' SING.
Oh yeah, remember how I said I wanted to cosplay Usopp from One Piece? Well, I did. And boy did I look like as big a doofus as you could imagine. Yet, somehow, I felt great looking so bad (maybe because I realized how bad some other peoples' costumes were). It was fun running into some other One Piece cosplayers, and another Usopp! Female though, as I said, I just want to break the chain of One Piece crossplay (incorrect gender cosplay). If you happen to live in near the Stonebriar mall in Plano, TX, be sure to stop by on Halloween to see how I look. Or see Saw IV...moron.
And, oh! Yes! Did y'all see it?! The new One Piece dub?! A few months back FUNimation announced that they picked up One Piece, and it premiered two weeks ago. It's pretty awesome so far. Sonny Strait just may be a better Usopp than Yamaguchi Kappei, no, I'm serious, he's friggin' hilarious. It's a great dub overall, and it's just great to finally have it here, in America, the way it should have been. Now go watch it...ya moron.
Well our car got robbed about two hours ago, so I'm going to use that as an excuse to get on outta here. I should really be sleeping now, work tomorra'. Sooooo glad I don't have to open again. I can't seem to get an opening shift without getting idiotically lectured about SOMETHING. See y'all later, g'night.

Knowing your idiots, and ignoring them.
Let's see, how many things have happened since the last time I wrote? Hmm, got a job, bought some games, went to A-Kon, got to level 40, yeah that's about it. Not too much really happening. Oh wait...
The job experience, so far, has been pretty manageable. The only thing that's wrong is that they will not give me many work hours, so now I'm going to have to get a second job. That's just great. While I do get free movies, I'm not sure if I'm actually allowed to review them, which kind of sucks because most of the recent movies have been...oh right, I shouldn't say or else I could get fired. Maybe I shouldn'tve wrote that movie review last week...
I've been splurging quite a bit on my few finances, got a DS Lite along with Pokemon Pearl, then I got Phoenix Wright (game store sales, you know), and got Lumines II. Pokemon is fun, but is the best when playing with another person. That's why I got my brother Diamond version (along with Starfox Command) as a very late birthday present, as I gave him my old one and thought he would need a few games along with it. I gotta tell ya, Pokemon is a blast when you have someone playing with you. Even someone stupid enough to pick the opposite gender character and then name her "Quiznos". I have no idea what the hell is wrong with him sometimes. Yes, he picked the monkey, because of course "it's a flaming monkey, that's never been done ever before".
A-Kon was fun, but even with cash (which will run out very quickly there) it's still not quite as fun as Anime-Fest, which I'm really going to save up for. Hotel fees and whatnot. Also, this time around I'd really like to cosplay with a custom-made costume. At A-Kon I bought an Akatsuki outfit, you know, the evil guys from Naruto Shippuuden. Fun, though I'd really like to be someone that almost no one is: Usopp/Sogeking. Why? Because he is awesome.
(Added note: Ironically, about five minutes after I beat the fourth case on Phoenix Wright, I got a picture of a Phoenix+Edgewright holding an "Objection!" sign. That was pretty funny.)
Oh! Right! Speaking of One Piece, about right after the last post I made news came out: FUNimation is taking over the One Piece dub! While VIZ is still doing great with some of the biggest Shonen Jump licenses, FUNimation is still a pretty good dubbing company, and I trust that they'll do a great job. Unfortunately, due to the Toonami timeslot and the dumbass FCC, still ain't gonna get any cigarretes. In fact, they might have to keep the lollipop. Crap. Anyway, more news about the dub will come at an anime convention occuring next month. This should be pretty awesome.
So far, the best choices I can think of for the voices would be:
Monkey D. Luffy: Vic Mignogna (the best I could think of, best known as Edward Elricin Fullmetal Alchemist)
Sanji: Johnny Yong Bosch (this is a very obvious choice, known for voicing Vash in Trigun and Ichigo in Bleach, he's essentially the English mirror of the original Japanese voice actor, he could nail this role)
I bought I few DVDs from the FUNimation stand (which had a big plastic Nohara Shin, pretty awesome), Desert Punk Vol. 1, Black Cat Vol. 1, and the special edition of the Fullmetal Alchemist movie. I love Desert Punk, it's the only anime I can think of where the dub fully exceeds the quality of the original Japanese. Hell, they redid the opening and closing themes in English, and it sounds better than the original. Black Cat is pretty cool, I don't like some of the English voice actors as they seem to over, or under, do it sometimes, and they can't keep up with the fantastic original Japanese voices. And the Fullmetal Alchemist movie was okay, too simple at times and seemed to be in a serious rush to end. Still haven't actually checked out the multitude of special features.
And no, still no cords. Apparently, power bricks cost about 40-100 dollars. Screw that, if they don't send me my cords back, I'm going to have no choice but legal action. I'm not kidding either.
It's definitely been a busy few months, and so far the summer is going well, way better than last year in which a large majority of was spent hiding out upstairs, and avoiding all contact with our parents. This summer will be closed out with the very exciting Anime Fest, so I'm gonna try to work as much as possible if I can. Once again, let's hope for the best.
