As tagged by Ange, like agggges ago, but I finally got around to it
10 Things You Didn't Know About Me:
1. I am fluent in three languages, English, French and Tagalog--I really want to learn Italian or Spanish next.
2. I watch an obscene amount of reality tv, for example: Amazing Race, SYTYCD, AI, DWTS, Project Runway (ugh, love), and Shear Genius to name a few haha. Oh, also, Baby Borrowers. I swear I could be on that show by myself and be better than some of those couples combines. hahaha. (I bet that's what they all thought going into it too hehe)
3. I am majoring in Politics and English in university.
4. Most of my spare time is spent either at the gym or reading--often times it's both, reading at the gym haha.
5. Something I've discovered about myself--why I listed (if you scroll down to my PhotoBucket Quiz answers) Jensen Ackles, Jared Leto and Cam Gigandet as my current crushes: Jensen is the boy you want to marry and bring home to the parents, Jared is the boy you want to hug and make him feel better (he should always play a drug addict. In every film.), and Cam is the bad boy you can't resist hahaha! I've got all the bases covered.
6. I am a trivia-freak. I used to play on a pseudo-Jeopardy type competitive trivia club in high school. We were pretty good. We went undefeated for my final season and ended up going to provincials. Oh, nostalgia.
7. My favourite book is The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner by Alan Sillitoe. It absolutely changed my life. It was just glorious. A tough 54 pages to hack through the first time, but it's right up there with Catcher in the Rye for me. Current Book: Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood--read it.
8. Tennis and Basketball are my two favourite sports. Soccer is up there as well, but primarily EPL or TFC just because we have a kickin' home crowd haha.
9. I was born in the Philippines and immigrated to Canada when I was two.
10. Heroes include: Mike Holmes, Jack McCoy and Gordon Ramsay. Ballers.

Ahh so exams are over, and I am back home once more. Actually, I finished last week but I was sooo busy moving I haven't had time to do anything. But anyways, now that I am back home and out from under the rock otherwise known as university, I have come to realize how sheltered I am from the world. The longer I am away at school, the less in-touch with the world I am hahaha! Or perhaps I am more in-touch with the issues that matter.
Anyways, apparently Miley Cyrus is the news these days. I think I've heard of her before. Hannah Montana or something, right? Disney show? Is it like the Amanda Bynes show? Or like All That? It looks like all the kiddies are into it these days. But she's going for the triple threat now, eh? Music, Movies, TV. I may have heard her song before. I don't really listen to the radio that often. The only decent ones I had access to at school were a classic rock radio station--awesome as always, and a student-run (oldest in Canada actually) radio station which does not play top 100 music. So it's a lot of up and comers, and indie bands, which I'm totally cool with. Otherwise I use CBC Radio 3, which just kicks so much a-s--and again, it's mostly up and coming acts, but there are some big Canadian names there too.
Anyways, my younger siblings think I'm really behind. Looks like these Jonas Brothers are the next Hanson or something. Ha! Oh Hanson. Three brothers, band, fit the bill for the current mod musical stylings? Check, check and check. Hanson was grungy-rocky-pop-y; and The Jonas Bros, who I heard for the first time a couple days ago, are more Maroon 5-y-JTish-super slick-over styled and coiffed to teen dreamboat perfection...I guess. I saw their music video yesterday too. It opened up with one of the bros rocking out to a tambourine. You Go Girl! But I figure what harm can they do really? I mean, give them their time in the sun, once their balls drop it's all over anyways. But I mean I've been hearing their names here and there a lot, even last year. I just had no idea why. I assume they are big news in the States--and hey, I'm a border town, so I hear these things too. But wow. They've racked up Beatles-esque fanfare with the insanity some people approach them. It's a little unnerving. Then again, I suppose I was the same with NSync and Backstreet Boys and the Spice Girls. Hahaha. The same deal with those High School Musical kids. Oh god. I watched the one Zac Efron video on You Tube where he does his solo song and dance? Hilarity to the max. It was so embarrassing. I almost couldn't finish it the first time. But it was funny.
Oh, you know what is funny? Flight of the Conchords! I LOVE THEM. Look them up on You Tube or something hehehe. I find myself babbling mindlessly, which is not unlike most of my 'blogs' but I've grown tired of it for now. I will be around.

I'm not gonna lie, a lot of Roswell was really corney and pretty lame. I'm a fan though. Something about trash tv. But I mean, it all seemed very contrived to me, and very 'ship driven, which is frustrating. I think they completely underutilized Tess. The handling of her character, the direction the showrunners decided to go on contingent upon fan-reactions (which were largely influenced by ship support) was the worst case of character assassination I've ever seen on television--right up there with Gilmore Girls and Christopher (again, largely influenced by ship support).
Honestly, these kids are supposed to be 16-18 years old. No one is ever that into one person that much. It was terribly cliché.
I also found the utter dismissal of the alien-plot to be rather ridiculous. It made me quite upset with the characters, with their utter selfishness and dismissal of responsibility. I personally, would have loved to see this storyline progress and develop further. It was all--ohhh what's my destiny? What are we? I want to know everything! -- Oh sh-t! I take it back and don't want to help anymore. Let's all forget this ever happened. Quick--teen drama!
Also, sorry to fans of this character, but Alex was too many kinds of lame for my tastes. Dude was soooo not pretty enough for Kat Heigl.
As for season 3...well, let's just pretend that never happened. I still can't believe the writers gave Liz alien powers. Ugh. Give. Me. A. Break. I can just see them all swooning, "Oh, now Max and Liz really are the OTP!!!1!11one!!1one!!1" I think I just really have a problem in general with the Liz character. Saint Liz as she seemed to be portrayed in my eyes. The doe-eyed brunette was the prettiest, sweetest, smartest girl in school. Gosh darn! How can you not postively turn into a puddle at her feet? Ugh. Now, I know some people say, "Oh she wasn't a Joey Potter! She just had Max!...and Kyle...and Maria's cousin...and 'Dupe' Rath." Oh, and she wasn't the smartest. She wanted to get into Harvard, but all we know is she's good at science! Please. No one should harbour elite Ivy League notions unless they're the best at everything. Especially if they come from a school like the one portrayed in Roswell. Honestly, has it been that long since any of the writers went to university? Do you really expect me to believe that?
The characters were just really, really weak to me. I really didn't like any of them, except perhaps Tess, Kyle was alright to an extent. At least he acted like a real red-blooded teenaged male. I liked the family dynamic between Kyle, Tess and Valenti.
Max - One, true leader of the pack. Strong and silent type. Falls for girl he should never really have. Fights destiny to be with said girl, even when other girl in destiny is pining over him. Thankfully, by some twist of events, said destiny girl turns out to be evil allowing our brave, albeit dark and confused, hero can make his own destiny! Usually with the starry-eyed 'help' of non-destiny-I-make-my-own-destiny-girl. And by 'help' I mean the magical sex that will forever bond the two together.
Michael - Sidekick extrordinaire. Rebellious; at times showing glimpses of great leadership ability--may or may not try to usurp the throne. If so, he is thankfully, by some turn of events, he is stopped, realizes the error in his ways--or is revealed to have been under some other influence--and is ultimately redeemed, and again shown his permanent place as second banana. Also has an OTP, although will likely be much rockier than our hero's 'ship, but will prove to be a modicum more entertaining. Will likely be the typical on-again, off-again I-love-you-I-hate-you relationship. Also, we usually get more sex out of this one. He's more firey and fun.
Isabel - B-tchy older sister, control freak. Cool girl, smart, pretty, involved, potentially witty--cold. But falls for the geek! (Fanboy fantasy, anyone?) Ultimately uneventful. Fairly lame. As responsible as she is, she too refuses to step up to the plate. Sex-wise? Well, I did say this one was the frigid-b-tch. If OTP#3 goes as indicated below, OTP will never consummate their undying love--because one will die. As a result will be haunted by death of would-be lover.
Maria - Snarky, comic-relief, but pretty enough to play no. 2, but loyal enough to never get between OTP#1 (see non-threatening female friend Original Cindy: Dark Angel, Willow: Buffy, Suki: GG--these characters are either fat, married (or in a dedicated relationship before the OTP#1 is set into motion) or a lesbian). And, as is written in the stars, fills in the role for OTP#2, fittingly enough, with the hero's no.2. Not particularly significant, but is more entertaining than the heavy drama of OTP#1.
Alex - Fanboy cum writer projecting, and living vicariously through this character. Is often the surprise hero with through the use of his brains. Is often to clever for his own good, and may meet his demise--or become significantly injured and thus further endeared to the audience for his bravery inspite of his lacking physical attributes--because of his extreme intelligence, or knowledge of a "geeky" topic, often rendered useless. Likely will get with coolest, typically pretty girl, who is a frigid b-tch until he warms her heart, won't last due to tragedy or actor request to leave--usually resulting in the writing of a tragic end to this character. (See Zander and Cordelia, Buffy)

Yay! This is a quickie. I'm sure ya''ll have heard about the renewal by now, but I'd just like to spread the cheer! I didn't really have any doubt that Supernatural would be back--especially with the performance of the latest episode, and full-night feature. So yes, we can rest easy this May for the upfronts when the rest of the shows find out their fate. I can't wait for the show to come back already!
I'll keep my fingers crossed for Aliens in America and Reaper. I know a lot of Supernatural fans out there are rooting against Reaper for taking "our" timeslot--but I think that doing that based on principle alone, and completely knocking a show because of that, without giving it a fair shot is wrong. Sure, you can not like a show; I can't change your taste in television, but I just feel like a lot of Supernatural fans are throwing Reaper into the fire based solely on allegations that it is trying to "steal" Supernatural's spot.
I'm kinda thinking that some of the motivation behind this early release of renewals is to try and ease the heat off of the Reaper hate. Now that they've announced that Supernatural is back, maybe the crazy fans will stop the boycott and give another one of their shows a shot. Reaper is the same type of genre show--but much lighter, much more farcical than Supernatural. It's a different animal completely. And no, I don't care that the main character's name is Sam. It's a freakin' name! Who cares?! I'm guessing the show writers and developpers are a lot smarter than thinking that naming their main character the same as another show's main character is going to garner them some instant fans.
I just don't like the idea that so many people--grown adults--are so vehement in their fight to kick a show off the air, and put people out of work. I'm quite disappointed with a large part of the fandom. It's just very juvenile behaviour, I find. From unbiased perspectives I hear very good things about Reaper. I hope it does well. I hope it finds success. But just because I say that does not mean I'm choosing it over Supernatural. I don't believe in dualism--where to like one thing, I have to hate another on principle. That's just ignorance. I'll like and support what I do so choose, based on my own likes and interests.
I'm finding, though, that this is true not only with Supernatural fans and other shows, but within our own fandom. There are Dean!Girls and Sam!Girls who refuse to acknowledge that the show is about two brothers. They turn to personal attacks and even go so far as to insult the actors themselves for simply portraying the character written for them. People are creating drama where there is no drama. One of the reasons why Supernatural is as fantastic as it is, is due to the fact that the cast and crew get along so well. Jensen and Jared are great friends and enjoy their role on the show. I don't understand why people feel the need to split them up and declare war. Why? Because one brother is being "shafted"? Because they think one actor gets more favours than the other? That's just silly. I'm finding I'm getting really fed up with these internal debates and moot points. "Sam gets all the storylines--Dean never gets to do anything!" -- "Oh, everyone loves Dean and Jensen--he gets all the best material! They think Jared is ugly!" Wah, wah, wah.
There is no show without either brother. Each is as integral to the show as the other. Get over yourself and stop blowing things out of proportion. You're not a 14 year old girl with raging hormones (if you are, then I completely understand your reactions, and are as such entitled to as angsty adolesence as your hormonal self desires--we all get that once in our life).
But yes. That is all I have to say really. I'm quite pleased that Supernatural has been renewed. Congrats Kripke & Co.!

Before I start, I finally got my friend to watch an episode with me--and she finally admitted that she thought Dean was G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S! hahaha. I know, how could she possibly deny it? She's a silly girl, that's what. hahaha. Anyways, one of the most hilarious things I've heard, she said, "Wow, he's just beautiful. If I were the other guy in the car I would try to kiss him in the middle of the scene. Just lean in and give him the shock of his life--Take Two!!! hahaha. He wouldn't come back for 3 days!!!" So fricken hilarious.
But anyways...
Wow. Jensen just BLEW ME AWAY! He was really fantastic throughout this whole episode. Supernatural really seems to find their forte in the dream-sequences a la What is and What Should Never Be. Totally different storylines, but both fantastic episodes. My detailed review will come up later. I just had to post something now, because it was just awesome. I could really see what Kripke meant about the lighting and the contrast they were trying to create--well, at least for the sake of this episode, I could really appreciate it. The whole grainy, washed-out scary dream vision, harkening back to season 1 and then the technicolour brightness on the outside--I liked it a lot.
Also, I thought the Sam-Bela dream? HILARIOUS. Maybe it was just me. I'm hearing differing views on it, but I liked it--and I mean I hate Bela. Then awkward Sam afterwards? Are you kidding me?! hahahaha!
And the Bobby backstory broke my heart--so sad
I love my Bobby. Love. Love. Love. I liked how he dreamt os his house--all neat and domestic-like, as if his wife were still alive
Oh Bobby!--Oh, but one of my favourite things: "You boys better check your pockets--Not literally!" Doh! hahahaha. Awesome. But seriously, best part? Do I even need to say it? Deanmon vs. Dean! He shattered my already broken heart into a million more pieces. I totally saw that coming after WIAWSNB. Fabulous. Beautiful. Heartbreaking. Dean!Angst!!!!! I thrive on it.

More on this subject later

Ugh. My computer is acting like a real b-tch. I NEED high speed internet, I can't function without it--and for some awful reason the internet is being slow and my computer is acting up! I can't have this!!!!!
I don't know what I'm going to do! This is brutal. Ridiculous. Unacceptable....And also the reason why my posting has become so infrequent since the episode aired

Anyways. I also loved the episode this past week. Malleus Maleficarum was pretty fantastic. The development to the overarching plot was AWESOME! Also the gore was delicious. The teeth and the maggots....ugh. I'm shuddering right now. That was disgusting!!!!! Awesome. Also, did anyone else notice the constant twitch the Tammi demon had when talking to Sam? Hahaha. I get the evil thing, she played evil pretty well, but I have to admit--it was kinda funny. Way to steal the scene twitchy-eye HAHAHA!
The scene between Dean and Ruby has been getting a lot of mixed reactions, from what I've read. I personally enjoyed that interaction more than any other the boys have had with either of the girls, which is why I think it came off 'better' -- for me at least.
KC definitely still needs some fine tuning, but at this point she is head and shoulders above Bela in the character department. She has a fascinating story now. I'm more compelled to see her interactions with and about the boys than I am about Bela. Ruby just seems more organic, ya know? She's a low on the totem pole demon, who's looking to fulfill the prophecy for Sam, so she benefits--or as she claims, humanity benefits.
There's also the idea that she's pulling a divide and conquor that is really interesting too. When she interacts with the boys it's almost always seperately. She tells Sam he can save his brother if he listens to her, follows her instructions, etc. She tells Dean that there's no way out, and that he has to help her push Sammy to be tougher--get him closer to that proverbial edge that will keep him alive after Dean has gone--but also closer to that killing edge that Azaezel wanted him to get to--which was not a good thing last season, if I recall correctly. I'm wondering if either is telling about their Ruby encounters.
If she is faking, the walking oxymoron act is quite convincing and effective--especially now that she's got Dean speculating. I think that what is really going to drive him to trust Ruby--if he ever does--is the idea that even though he'll be in hell, even if he turns into a demon, he can still remember and be like Ruby and subvert the evils of other demons. If that happens, I think Dean could get majorly screwed if she turns out to be faking.
I think that's the difference this season. While I don't particularly enjoy the standalones this season, I am loving the overarching plot lines. The Gordon storyline was fantastic; I can't wait to see what's going on with Henrikson in Jus in Belo; the 'will-Dean-go-to-hell' deal is really compelling too, moreso than the other times Dean almost died. The difference is, I know Jensen will be back--there's no show if one of the boys is gone--and all of those other times he nearly died he didn't have an escape plan. There is one this time. He's going to hell, but that doesn't mean he'll stay there the whole time. It's a question of how he might come back if he does go--that's really interesting. Also, Sam's storyline is much more interesting as well. Last season, I never really bought that Sam was going to go dark-side because he always had Dean there to look out for him. But now, he's got the burden of guilt, the pending solitary existance, and Ruby, and possibly Dean now too, pushing him to be tougher, less hesitant--closer to embracing that killer--or I think as Dean sees it, survivalist--instinct.The only thing is, and I'm going back to Ruby, well, KC more but see, I feel like if I had read the parts of Ruby, I think I would've liked her character better. But yeah, I totally called that she was a witch who sold her soul to the devil/demon or w/e. I think the character is interesting, but the acting is up to scratch. However, I did enjoy her exchange with Dean at the end--I really liked that. I was less comfortable, however, with the first meeting when she stopped the car. Maybe it was her posture. She had her arms crossed and her body language seemed off for a foreboding demon--then again, she might have just been insecure about the demon in town... I guess, though, that it makes a little sense why she's not as badass as Meg or Casey--they were kick ass demons--but Ruby is a little 'soft' in her delivery. But I'm not sure if it's for the role, or because Cassidy can't quite nail the role. Either way, I enjoy the Ruby character much more than the Bela character and would prefer an episode like this over a Bela epi any day.
It's clever, it's tricky and the distinction between black and white is getting ever grayer. So yeah, I'm interested. This episode packed a real punch for me storywise. I can't wait to see what's next. Also, I'm standing by my theory that Rubywas a crazy, old-school, European-hardcore witch. Though I dunno why she has so much contempt for them...Unless she was unknowingly tricked into becoming a witch and selling her soul by another witch who wanted something--hence the wh-re bit. But yeah, I posted this elsewhere and decided to share:
"So history isn't exactly my forte here, but with all the historical witch references...Ruby mentioned that she was a witch back when the plague was popular. I'm assuming she meant the bubonic plague, which had three major pandemics: Justinian, 14th cent (it only struck sporadically after that until the 17th cent.), and then the Asian plague--which is the most recent, coming in at 19th-20th cent.
Why does everyone assume Ruby is an "American" demon, associated with "American" witches? She likely came out of the second pandemic, making it much more likely that she is of European origin, especially since that was exactly the time the European witch-hunts were popular"

So it's my birthday--AND Supernatural comes back tonight!!! What more reason do we need to celebrate?! Oh and thanky to all for the early birthday wishes: Pixie, Ange, Shazz, and everyone else--Love, love, love!
So, I'm going to share some of my favourite Jensen Ackles pictures--from RL to Dark Angel to Supernatural
Don't mind me, I'll just be a puddle on the floor! hahaha. You know this is why half the people started watching the show! hahaha--Oh yeah, and he's one of the most talented, and underrated actors out there.

Alec throw-back! Aw, this scene breaks my heart--"I'm always alright." --No you're not Alec! Now come here and we'll hug it out

I love this picture. He looks to thoughtful. I don't think it's posed for either. Just simple and thoughtful.

Mmmmm. Wet Jensen, need I say more? --Yeah, actually, look how long his lashes are!!!

Again, lovethis picture. He looks fabulous in colour or B&W. It's a work of art, this picture. He's got a gorgeous profile. And the eyes?! Are you kidding me? FRECKLES!

Hee!!! I love me some Texas boys! Just the white long sleeve t-shirt, and the faded jeans and the big buckle belt--and the smirk!! Ugh.

Cuz I know ya'll want Jensen all tied up for yourselves! hahaha

Aw. Alec and Max! Seriously, Jensen brought out some of JAlba's best work--that she's ever done. He kinda has the ability to raise the performance levels of those around him. It's too bad things went so poorly behind the scenes on DA. Alec remains one of my fave tv characters of all time.

This is SexyBack--Justin ain't got nothin' on this!

His smile is infectious

This picture just kills me. He's gorgeous. It just hits you. He's just caught off guard and it's beautiful.

Heh.

This boy's face just knows how to take a good picture. The slight upturn of the lips, the bright eyes, wide and looking out--perfect lashes...ugh...I can't go on. My brain just melted.

Hee. Having a good time!

BEN! My first dose of Jensen on DA s.1 -- Psycho Ben : Holla at me if you know what COJ is! hahaha
If you want a good read check out this LJ entry by former DA writer Doris Egan, who created Ben. She talks about Jensen during DA and just how all around awesome he is. That makes me smile. Check it here: http://tightropegirl.livejournal.com/8725.html

Mmmm, like someone before me said, "Those forearms need to be licked!" HAHAHAHA

Jensen making arson look sexy

Because the Metallicar is family too!

Hey, you know you wanted to be that pen!

I love candid shots of Jensen. He's just gorgeous all the time. It's kinda ridiculous.

Hee! Dean and his guns. What a Man!

This picture kills me. The eyes are just sooooo expressive.

So that's the end of the line for pictures, but here are a few other tid-bits about our favourite boy:
The Demon and Dean Winchester
In All Hell Breaks Loose part 2, Ona Grauer tells Eclipse Magazine that all of her scenes were done opposite only one of the series two leads, Jensen Ackles. While Ona Grauer says she regrets not having a chance to work with Jared Padalecki, that she was pleased to be working with her long time friend Jensen Ackles. "I've known Jensen for about five years, having met him through mutual friends. There is a joke amongst us friends about Jensen," Grauer speaks with affection about Ackles, "It seemed as though the shows he was on like Dark Angel and Dawson's Creek that would get cancelled shortly after he joined the cast. We always said it was because he was so good it made everyone else look bad." It's because of this friendship and admiration for his work that she says she watches Supernatural. "I think Jensen is very talented."--That's from the CRD in 2.22 taken from "Eclipse"(?)Magazine. It's since been taken off the site feature, but someonehad it posted somewhere.
Part of his appeal other than pure aesthetic is the fact that he's ridiculously talented, hardworking, yet down-to-earth. Back in his Dark Angel days he earned a reputation for always being prepared for shooting, garnering the title "One-Take Jensen" which I find beyone adoreable. With all the insanity the crew had to deal with with the other two "stars" it's nice to know someone was professional around there.
He just seems like an easy guy to work with. Does his job and doesn't let it get to his head. He also got on real well with the Days crew--they promised that they wouldn't recast Eric, which I believe they haven't to this day, and told him the spot was always welcome back to him if he wanted, which is super sweet and a huge compliment. I believe late 07 he actually tried to fit it into his schedule, a brief reprisal of his role as Eric Brady on Days, since he was getting a lot of mentionin the current storyline. Unfortunately Supernatural scheduling clashed and he couldn't find a chance to fit it in--but it speaks volumes to his reputation down there that they still offered him the spot after--what? 7 years away from the show? That's just awesome. Also, he was hand picked by Drew Barrymore to be the high school love-interest in Never Been Kissed, unfortunately Days scheduling conflicted so he had to turn down the role.
Jensen certainly leaves quite the impression no matter what the role, even during his short tenure on Smallville--the guys and girls just love him there--see the s4 DVD commentary
And his ability certainly made it easier to write for, since writers didn't have to accomodate for any shortcomings and that certainly endeared him to the writers--see DA s.2 DVD commentary. Ha! At one point the two women commenting just go into a long discussion about Jensen and how popular he was on-set hahaha. Really, not that surprising
Anyways, this post is already ridiculously long, so I'm going to stop here hahaha!
YAY! Supernatural is on TONIGHT!!!!
-->Record Lost and WATCH SPN LIVE! Kripke wants us to make these possibly last four episodes go out with a ratings bang! Let's give it to him!

So, in continuation of my latest string of shallow, meaningless, but thoroughly aesthetically pleasing posts, I've got another round of pictures of two very gorgeous men. David Beckham and Jensen Ackles. I love both of them, buthonestly, when I saw the side-by-side comparisons for a "celeb-look-a-like" thing I could help but think that Jensen just puts other men to shame. This is coming from a girl who loves her some Becks, but damn Jensen and that square jaw!

Beckham v. Ackles = Winner J.Ackles

Beckham v. Ackles II= Winner J.Ackles (not even a fair fight)

And these are supposed to be GOOD pictures of David! C'mon! (Wasn't he named Manliest Man a while back too?) I love Beckham, the guy is gorgeous, and he can pull off some looks some people would never in their lives consider wearing. He's a football legend, and a hair and fashion icon - strange mix, but he pulls it off like no other. He alwaysseems tolook good...unless he's next to Jensen Ackles.

Jensen makes me melt on the floor. Even though he's got "pretty-boy" looks, with the eyes, and the pouty lips and the extra long lashes, and the perfect skin and smile and bone-structure and amazing symmetry...heh, sorry, I just had a brain melt...He still looks very masculin, even in his model poses hee. He's not overly buff either, he's got a great body--defined, muscular--but lean, not bulky--he just looks super fit, not like scary body builder. He just has this air about him that makes him seem like such a man's man, and he doesn't even have to try. Good grief the man looks good in a kilt and eyeliner! (re:Ten in Hero) ... Wow ...I could go on for days about how beautiful he is, he's just indecently good looking. heh, oops! I'll stop now

So I don't really watch tv, but I do eventually end up getting fed the latest "It-Boy/Man" of primetime, usually a "hunk" from a new series that has mediocre to good ratings. The latest one I've been bombarded with at all outlets has been a certain Alex O'Laughlin of the new CBS(?) series, Moonlight. Haven't seen it, heard mixed things about it, not particularly compelled to check it out. I'm just a little curious as to the hype surrounding him. I mean, you've seen from my aforementioned post, my definition of pretty hahaha, and I just don't see it with Mr. O'Laughlin. By no means am I saying he's ugly, he's mildly attractive, a nice body, I hear he's an Aussie so the accent must be sexy...but other than that, he's not particularly stunning. Maybe it's because he looks like Jeremy Piven to me? Or Jason Dohring?

But anyways yeah. I dunno, is it the new Patrick Dempsey hair that makes him look like he just got off of a motorcycle? a la:

Maybe it's just my taste. I don't particularly find any of these men attractive. Sure, they're not ugly, but they just do nothing for me. Meh. Any thoughts as to why this phenomenon of mediocrityflooding the media hot-lists is happening? Now don't throw stuff at me yet, I'm just saying this based on a purely aesthetic appraisal--I've not seen a single thing any of these guys have been on--except Piven, in The Kingdom, which was better than expected. I mean I've only heard of their awesome looks, so I'm scrutinizing their "awesome looks" Wow, I'm lame. hahaha. Ah well. I'm shallow, what are you gonna do about it?
Thought, comment, ideas?

Hee, so I know jensenjared4eva is posting a bunch of pix like this too, haha, I even asked to have these very boys posted and dedicated to me on her blog--but I wanted them on mine too!!! hahaha I hope she doesn't mind that I'm pretty much doing what I asked her to do anyways hehehe eek!
So yeah, nothing much here, just some shallow oggling at the opposite sex. One of my favourite pastimes hahahaha. Anyways, enjoy:He's just ridiculously good looking. Ugh.

This is one of my faves from the Men's Fitness photoshoot--though all his photos from that session were really hot. It reminds me of Jack Nicholson in Cuckoo's Nest.

Dave Annable--the surprise find in People's Sexiest Men issue. (I don't watch Bros & Sisters so I didn't know who he was) He's currently a wall favourite. Yummy and so cute and adoreable. Love, love, love him right now.

Yummy Cam Gigandet. I don't think I've seen him anywhere, though I did read that he was on the OC for a few episodes...I just might consider watching them just for him. He was a face I just happened to stumble across and damn was it ever noteworthy. I really hope to see him in action soon.

I hope you enjoyed the show. Nothing too profound happening here otherwise.
OH! And don't forget to keep voting for Supernatural for Best in Genre: Science Fiction here @ tv.com's Best of 2007! (We need to keep voting until it's over, and my fingers are killing me!) hahaha.

This movie just killed me. It's in my top 10. It's currently at the top of my top 10--and that's a list that rarely moves. It gets top spot for being brilliant, James McAvoy, Keira Knightly, Soairse Ronan and for completely tearing me up and exeeding my expectations.
If you have yet to see it--see it NOW. Run, don't walk.
The film is positively beautiful. I won't say much about it because half the plot is mystery and it would be a travesty for me to ruin it for you. I bought the book first, but I've neglected it and accidentally left it at home over the break, but I must now have it and finish it. I just spent a half-hour after finishing it, basking in its glory. I want the DVDs now--special edition, full screen, with hours of blissful special features. It was just so magnificent.
Honestly, this film is magestic. It's beautiful. I have no words.
I'malso upset there will be no Golden Globes or Oscars because of the damn writers. I'm sick of it...well, mostly because I won't see James McAvoy on my TV as a result.

Okay, I've just got to say that Supernatural has been wonderful these past two episodes. I really thought I wasn't going to like the Christmas special but it was fantastic! It made me laugh, it was sad, there was action and gore--AWESOME! The finger nail thing? Ugh. Pukey awesomeness. And no, my vocabularly usually isn't so limited haha.
But seriously, Supernatural is pulling it out! You all know the feelings I had about the show with the first bunch of episodes. I was having a really hard time really getting into the show again. Bedtime Stories was a little better, Fresh Blood was Amazing and the Christmas Special was just a wonderful holiday treat. I have to admit I am back in the loop of things and I'm really glad that I am...I think it might have also been aided by my reviewing of WIAWSNB like three times, as well as reading the twop review of the thing. Ugh, that is the absolute number 1 episode Supernatural has ever done. Brilliant. But I'm sure that's nothing you haven't heard before already.
I'm just really pleased I'm back into liking the show again. I was really worried that I wouldn't like it this season--and don't get me wrong, I still have major issues concerning the girls--but my worries seem to be assuaged by the writers, and through every episode Bela and Ruby don't appear in.
Anyways, in other news, there is a Supernatural Essay Competition. This is exactly the nerdy kind of thing that I would do hahaha. It's posted on the SNtv website and looks really interesting. I am a little hesitant to have it done next to the guy who wrote the companion books--I haven't heard good things, let's just put it that way--but I love the boys and it would be a really awesome opportunity to be published as a fan. I just have no idea what I would possibly have 3000-4000 words to write about for an essay. hahaha. It sounds like a lot of fun, and I think I might try it.
I'm only hesititant about starting it because I'm worried I might neglect my other work. On top of school I'm copy editing for a magazine, I'm also writing an original story (well, I dunno if you could call it a story, but more like a narrative...well, you'll get it if you read it when it's finished on my lj) which shouldn't be too long, but it's like 8 different voices I'm taking in, and then I've got my DA fics--one of which I've neglected to update since June...eek! Sorry!!!
*Sigh*
I dunno, I think I'll go for it. It sounds really fun. I've already got ideas rolling through my head...hmm. Anyways, it's back to work for me!

So, as you may have heard, Jessica Alba, who I used to adore until I realized she was a horrible actress and was a bit of a jezebelle, has a new movie out called Awake with Hayden Christensen...Lena Olin and Terrence Howard are also in the film. Sounds almost respectable, right? Erm, yeah...horrible film, but hilariously enough, as one critic stated, "The best Jessica Alba movie this year!" hahaha. Oh boy. Review after review just butchers this movie. Strange though, that Ebert, I believe? Gave it a good review, though he states one cannot even look atthe movie poster or see a commercial if the plot is to be maintained and appreciated. Sounds like a pretty weak plot to me if that one point is the only thing going for this film--I mean other than Jessica Alba's next to naked form. Honestly, the girl can't act.Facial expressions are non-existant, her muscles just won't allow for such a strenuous work-out. The girl was out-emoted by a coral reef in Into the Blue, good grief.
Anyways, I was browsing, and I found this review of the film, and I was just wondering--they're joking, right? I really, really hope they're not serious. It's a joke. I seriously laughed out loud when I read this, I was astounded. Anyways, here it is:
Suspense keeps viewers 'Awake'December 7, 2007
Thousands of people go under anesthesia every year, and an unfortunate few suffer what is called "anesthetic awareness." These people are fully conscious but completely paralyzed. Clay Beresford (Hayden Christensen) experiences this same dilemma in Awake.
In the film, Clay's heart surgery starts like any other procedure, but luck is not on Clay's side as it quickly turns into a conspiracy with many twists along the way. The surgery that is supposed to save his life soon causes a struggle for his survival.
Awake is a gripping psychological thriller that will leave viewers in shock as the complex story unfolds. The concept of the movie is very chilling and entices viewers with its many subplots. Not only is Clay fighting for his life, but his new wife, Sam Lockwood (Jessica Alba), is struggling to make amends with Clay's mother, Lilith (Lena Olin), while also dealing with her own personal issues. The subplots are constructed in an understandable fashion so that viewers can follow the flow of the movie. Awake is a captivating movie that grabs the attention of viewers from beginning to end.
The incredible performances of the actors are what really make the movie shine. However, Christensen (Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith) can't quite hold his own against the other actors. Christensen is often monotone and lacks the emotional qualities a dying man should have. To give him credit, Christensen is at his best when on screen with Alba. Their palpable on-screen chemistry is not only enticing but also very realistic.
Olin also does a great job of portraying the grief-stricken mother who will go to any length to protect her son. While her character seems very unlikable in the beginning, viewers can easily warm up to her by the end.
Where Christensen falls short, Alba succeeds and steals the show. Alba (Sin City) executes her multi-faceted role in an incredible fashion and puts on an excellent performance. Not only is Alba playing the role of an upset and concerned wife, but also the role of a comforting daughter-in-law, as well as a friend and more. Alba is able to appeal to viewers on an emotional level.
The visual effects aren't that realistic, which thankfully makes the movie less gory than predicted. They also tend to take away from the realistic aspect of the movie, leading to a detachment between viewers and Clay's ordeal. Even though they are not as stunning as one would expect, the visual effects still manage to add to the movie's intriguing concept.
There are many unforeseen circumstances that lead to incredible revelations throughout the entire movie. Awake is a disturbing tale of one of the many things that can go wrong during a surgery, and even borders on the point of terrifying. While the movie is unsettling at times, it still maintains an interesting overall appeal. The outstanding performances of the actors, mainly Alba, are what really make this movie enticing. With all of the unexpected events that occur and the unpredictable ending, Awake presents one message loud and clear: Nothing is ever as it seems.

I think I might be depressed....Or possibly going throughcaffeine withdrawl.I've been really out of it lately. I'm not up to doing any school work, I've been pretty anti-social and I've been really tired and sleeping a lot. I'm just not feeling like myself lately...I dunno. I don't even have anything to write here. I've gotten out a couple pretty good rants on the DA and SN boards...but other than that, I got nothin'. It might be that I'm not getting enough sunlight...since it tends to get dark around 4:30 here now, and it only looks to get sooner...huh...
I did throw together a new banner. I didn't make the individual pieces--credit goes to Andune, Daze, and CC from NWP. I just put them together. I like it. And I also finally got a new sig banner. I miss John.
Hmmm....Back to school work.- Posted Nov 12, 2007 6:19 pm PT

Okay, so here's the deal. You all know I love Supernatural. For the past two seasons I have fallen in love with the characters, the story and just the originality of the whole thing. It was fresh and new and just really amazing. I loved it. I love it. But here's the thing, I'm just left feeling really underwhelmed by this season so far. Now don't get me wrong, I would be devastated to see the show go, but at this rate and judging by the direction the show seems to be moving towards I, in all seriousness, can see the show being cancelled...or maybe even me quitting the show...
I don't like the new characters too much. I think Ruby has an interesting twist being a demon; Bela on her own may have an interesting story to tell, but here's the thing: I don't care. Okay, alone and on paper they have some interesting roles, but when it translates onto the screen I just feel like they're tapping into the old hate'em, sleep with'em, love'em scheme. Ruby I get, I suppose. But Bela, okay, so here's the deal: The boys can escape the feds, Gordon, various demons, but Bela manages to get the slip on them every single time?!
And that darkness about the show. I think that's what has been missing for me. I was thinking back to what made me like Meg so much, and it was because she seemed so dark, or at least there was something eerie about her. I dunno. She wasn't dark or overtly creepy when we were first introduced to her character, but I liked her a lot. I still do, but Ruby doesn't hold the same appeal--neither does Bela. I suppose she isn't supposed to be as dark, though. It just seems to me, so far this season, that they've become a farce. It's all jokes and cheesey with all of Dean's sexcapades. I mean it was there before, but in moderation. I don't know. I suppose it makes sense if it's Dean's last year to live and he's hedonistic-ing it up since he's already damned to hell.
I know last season Tall Tales was funny and Hollywood Babylon was too, but I mean the real gems were--for me at least--episodes like Nightshifter, Born Under a Bad Sign, Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things, etc, etc, etc. They all had fantastic blends of action, drama, and humour. The hunts were interesting and so was the over arching plot. Now it just feels like, be funny here, eh, I guess we can put the hunt there, and insert the girls here, and here and there--shake it all up and serve. It doesn't feel like the same show I fell in love with the first time I watched it. I guess I'm just frustrated because I know it can be such a great show, I've seen Nightshifter and I've seen BUABS and all of those wonderful episodes that were just brilliant throughout.

So naturally what do I do? Well, watch amovie, go online--stupid Facebook....watch some Supernatural, work on my story for NaNoWriMo. HA! So not happening. I am a horredous procrastinator. Honestly. I wait until the very last second then go and every time I say it's the last time because I feel so suffocated. Argh. I need to stop writing here or else I'll be screwed again. Man, I really suck at this. I can't complain that I'm stressed, because it's my own fault. I just need to vent it all out.
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so horribly frustrated and I don't know why I do this.

As you've all probably heard by now...or maybe not (I say this, in case you are in a situation similar to my own--that being stuck in a university bubble, with no television at hand and living in Canada, haha.), Stephen Colbert has decided to run for President in the State of South Carolina. I respect everyone's opinions, and their own beliefs, but I personally think this guy is hilarious. He's a lot smarter than he let's on in his show, both he and Stewart. I truly enjoy his satire and appreciate his message and in particular is mode of delivery. I've been a little behind in my paper reading, so after going through my mail box, I found this gem! haha. Enjoy!
Oh! One last thing! Being a fairly liberalCanadian myself andfalling easily into the 18 - 25 bracket, I place quite comfortably in Colbert and Stewart's target audience. I wasjust wondering what other opinions might be like South of the boarder, from different ages and cultural backgrounds. Any thoughts? (not necessarily on the article, but the situation in general)
OP-ED COLUMNIST; A Mock Columnist, Amok
By MAUREEN DOWD Published: October 14, 2007I was in my office, writing a column on the injustice of relative marginal tax rates for hedge fund managers, when I saw Stephen Colbert on TV.
He was sneering that Times columns make good ''kindling.'' He was ranting that after you throw away the paper, ''it takes over a hundred years for the lies to biodegrade.'' He was observing, approvingly, that ''Dick Cheney's fondest pipe dream is driving a bulldozer into The New York Times while drinking crude oil out of Keith Olbermann's skull.''
I called Colbert with a dare: if he thought it was so easy to be a Times Op-Ed pundit, he should try it. He came right over. In a moment of weakness, I had staged a coup d'moi. I just hope he leaves at some point. He's typing and drinking and threatening to ''shave Paul Krugman with a broken bottle.''
I Am an Op-Ed Columnist (And So Can You!)
By STEPHEN COLBERT
Surprised to see my byline here, aren't you? I would be too, if I read The New York Times. But I don't. So I'll just have to take your word that this was published. Frankly, I prefer emoticons to the written word, and if you disagree
I'd like to thank Maureen Dowd for permitting/begging me to write her column today. As I type this, she's watching from an overstuffed divan, petting her prize Abyssinian and sipping a Dirty Cosmotinijito. Which reminds me: Before I get started, I have to take care of one other bit of business:
Bad things are happening in countries you shouldn't have to think about. It's all George Bush's fault, the vice president is Satan, and God is gay
There. Now I've written Frank Rich's column too.
So why I am writing Miss Dowd's column today? Simple. Because I believe the 2008 election, unlike all previous elections, is important. And a lot of Americans feel confused about the current crop of presidential candidates.
For instance, Hillary Clinton. I can't remember if I'm supposed to be scared of her so Democrats will think they should nominate her when she's actually easy to beat, or if I'm supposed to be scared of her because she's legitimately scary.
Or Rudy Giuliani. I can't remember if I'm supposed to support him because he's the one who can beat Hillary if she gets nominated, or if I'm supposed to support him because he's legitimately scary.
And Fred Thompson. In my opinion ''Law & Order'' never sufficiently explained why the Manhattan D.A. had an accent like an Appalachian catfish wrestler.
Well, suddenly an option is looming on the horizon. And I don't mean Al Gore (though he's a world-class loomer). First of all, I don't think Nobel Prizes should go to people I was seated next to at the Emmys. Second, winning the Nobel Prize does not automatically qualify you to be commander in chief. I think George Bush has proved definitively that to be president, you don't need to care about science, literature or peace.
While my hat is not presently in the ring, I should also point out that it is not on my head. So where's that hat? (Hint: John McCain was seen passing one at a gas station to fuel up the Straight Talk Express.)
Others point to my new bestseller, ''I Am America (And So Can You!)'' noting that many candidates test the waters with a book first. Just look at Barack Obama, John Edwards or O. J. Simpson.
Look at the moral guidance I offer. On faith: ''After Jesus was born, the Old Testament basically became a way for Bible publishers to keep their word count up.'' On gender: ''The sooner we accept the basic differences between men and women, the sooner we can stop arguing about it and start having sex.'' On race: ''While skin and race are often synonymous, skin cleansing is good, race cleansing is bad.'' On the elderly: ''They look like lizards.''
Our nation is at a Fork in the Road. Some say we should go Left; some say go Right. I say, ''Doesn't this thing have a reverse gear?'' Let's back this country up to a time before there were forks in the road -- or even roads. Or forks, for that matter. I want to return to a simpler America where we ate our meat off the end of a sharpened stick.
Let me regurgitate: I know why you want me to run, and I hear your clamor. I share Americans' nostalgia for an era when you not only could tell a man by the cut of his jib, but the jib industry hadn't yet fled to Guangdong. And I don't intend to tease you for weeks the way Newt Gingrich did, saying that if his supporters raised $30 million, he would run for president. I would run for 15 million. Cash.
Nevertheless, I am not ready to announce yet -- even though it's clear that the voters are desperate for a white, male, middle-aged, Jesus-trumpeting alternative.
What do I offer? Hope for the common man. Because I am not the Anointed or the Inevitable. I am just an Average Joe like you -- if you have a TV show.

Just felt like I needed to share the news with anyone who was willing to listen, haha.
I interviewed at a current affairs magazine earlier this month and they offered me a position as copy editing intern! Yahoo! hahaha. I'm very excited. I'm actually the youngest member of the team, so I'm quite pleased with myself--har. No, in all honesty it's going to be rough, but I'm all for it. I am super excited to start the work, but first I've got to brush up on all my own grammatical abilities--yikes!
Wish me luck!

Good Luck Chuck! That's the one. A brief synopsis
Good Luck Chuck just sounds too typical. Actually, here, I'll tell you what happens: Once upon a time there was a pretty good lookin' guy named Chuck. He's charming, funny and witty, and all the girls like him too! Unfortunately, they're all better off as friends
Poor Chuck, can't hold down a girlfriend. Then one magical day he stumbles across a girl played by the lovely--when her mouth is shut and she isn't required to do any actual acting--Jessica Alba.
JA's character finds Chuck sweet, funny and witty, and so the two become the best of friends--courting casually for a few weeks of shiney-new-relationship bliss. Insert montage of two eating ice cream, holding hands, feeding the penguins! Oh look mom, they're soul mates--just like you and dad before the affair! But Chuck, recounting his history of losing his girlfriends to better suitors, prepares for the worst. He chooses to fight for JA's hand when a challenger for her interests comes along (when things are just starting to get good too, just darn Chuck's Luck!)--because come on, she is way hotter than any of his other girlfriends put together, who gives that up willingly? The two squabble and long for each other for about twenty minutes as the climax of the plot takes place. Angst. Angst. Angst. Does Chuck get the girl? Is he her ditch pig until a real man sweeps her off her feet?--Oh but wait! She's already been swept off her feet by the delightful and offbeat Chuck! She's never met a guy quite like him before!*as she earnestly flutters her eyelashes while telling her bff about Chuck, while they are separated*
Ah, and the two lovers are reunited! They reconcile and admit they were both wrong and that sometimes all they need is the air that they breath and to love each other. They sailed on together but they drifted apart, but now, they're here by each other's side, with open arms. Oh gosh--I'm feeling a little faint. A little light-headed. The scene--the story--they intensity of it all--it's too overwhelming!
But thankfully, the movie has come to a close. All is right with the world again as hot, quirky, funny, inexplicably single guy is together again with hot, sweet, smart? (questionable), inexplicably single girl. The curtain closes with the darling couple walking off hand-in-hand into the sunset, on a beach, as dolphins jump out of the water to say hello to the girl who knew Flipper, as some soft-rock, light summery tune plays soundtrack to their love.
There you go folks. The answer to the burning tag question is, "Yes." Tick that box off, put a Y in the designated blank, fill in that circle. Yes, Jessica Alba can change Chuck's luck. Now think about it. Would you have expected anything less? Here, I'll give you a second to think about that...
...
....
......
No, right?
That'll be $10.95 for the show and I just saved you 2 hours of your life that would have otherwise been spent on that movie.
