Avatar of Oakvale

3 days after the destruction of The Sword Of Aeons, the great warrior, Avatar, or Lord Barkvale as he was known before, returned to out humble village of Oakvale.

We, knowing of his god-crippling strength, laid out a feast before him, or meats, ale, and just about every different kind of fish we had. He was most pleased, and greeted us warmly. We didn't know his plans, but we were sure, being the good warrior of Avo that he was, it could only benifit us.

He stayed in the rooms above The Chesire's Inn. He was not as big as we thought he was going to be... (actually, he was tiny) so the double bed we had prepared for him was not needed.

When he awoke in the morning, a strange blue glow was coming from his fingers, and many people had a strange sense of foreboding. Maybe through some electrical force, maybe for another reason.

About 3 hours later, he left the village through the cave on the beach. Not many people have been through there, only those who go to pay tribute to the bandits through there.

Another hour, and we saw a sight we have not seen for nigh on 32 years. A body so mutilated, that we could not describe it in the town journal. It was horrific. The Lord Avatar returned down teh trail with it, saying it was a man who had been spying for the bandits in the camp about 12 miles away, and co-ordinated the attack all those years ago. His hands were not so blue anymore. I thought they were slightly redder.

We had no choice but to call a town meeting to discuss what to do with teh body, and the warrior. Despite him being champion of good, we could not allow a murder to go unpunished. the man should've been given a fair trial first.

And so, the Great Lord Avatar was banished from Oakvale, never to return. At least, in writing that was what it was. I, the mayor of Oakvale, started recieving strange messages about a righteous retribution. I can say, I was scared. I ran. Out of Oakvale, and took the nearest Cullis gate to Bowerstone, to ask the great Elvira Grey for help.

World in Conflict

Okay... right...

Apparently, it's historical... But... I can't help but feeling they've missed the point of "Cold War" here... y'know, no fighting and that stuff.

A "Cold" War, is a war in which every other diplomatic and economic method is implimented EXCEPT actual combat, so what they've done is just... well, exactly the same storyline as Red Alert, except Hitler isn't killed.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but in C&C Red Alert, the only reason the Soviet Union is able to wage war on the "Imperialistic Capitalists" is because Hitler was never there to invade Russia, and destroy half the country.

(Fact to the slow: The cold war had been going on since 1921, when the Bolshevik "reds" defeated the Tsarist "whites")

Anyway, they go to war.

But in "World in Conflict", Hitler is still there, so I'm a wondering, how did the Soviet Union get teh strength up? Because in a game they'd never show the US to be the aggressors, only the defenders. (They sent HUGE amounts of military aid into russia during the revolution and killed many civilians), so where'd this hidden strength come from?

I'm a-thinking they haven't thought this through too well.
