    Old News

plenty of old news for anyone who reads my blog. Which i'm relatively sure is no one.

sometime between my last post and now i rather gave up on Gamespot, mostly because i'm very bitter about how the PSP is treated here. not gonna lie. Primarily it was becaue of the no-homebrew policy. Traxxpad is great and all, but PSPKick is way cool... also, i began to doubt very much the content of GS's reviews. Subjectivity is a lot of it. At first i was just upset because i disagreed with a lot of PSP reviews, but it's more broad than that. Are they judging the PSP as a portable PS2, or as a seperate platform? Is it really that feasible forGS's target demographic [teenage/young adult males?] to enjoy Nintedogs as much as Halo 3?

i've come to accept this subjectivity- i rarely read the reviews anymore for anything. I also pirate a lot of stuff. sorry, Not That Basic. The seductive properties of still having my 40$ after playing through a game i might not even like are too great. I do have a job now, though, so that may change.. however, i would like to buy people christmas presents, and if i'm going to march Glassmen i'll be needing some serious cashflow. plus there's college application fees, as well as the daily lunch-buying moneys. So maybe i'll just keep pirating.

my latest gaming acquisition was Free Running for the PSP. i enjoy it because i enjoy the source material. i'd give it an 8 or so of 10.. GS might give it a 6. for me, it's a good game. subjectivity.

    shiny new banner...

    ... shiny new blog post.

short one, though, as i'm off to bed soon, and it's frigid in here.

i've been up all night doing custom themes for my PSP..  yes, themes, not wallpapers.  this means the little wavey thingies still go on in front of whatever image it is i've plopped in, except that only seemingly random images work and whatnot.  so it's taken longer than you might think.  anywho...  still in the image-editing mood, i decided my banner no longer was up with the times, what with being before i discovered how to properly make use of the clone tool in my photo-shop ripoff, and all...  so i threw together a banner based on the first widescreen-worthy Jango Fett image i came across on google.  (yes, i used the clone tool.  they didn't extend nearly that far to the left in the original image.  no, the irony of cloning the clones is not lost on me.)

    Christmastimes are here again

Off for winter break..  exchanged presents with my girlfriend, who is incidentally cherry flavored.

    umm..  moving on.

only games on my list were PSP titles..  the rest of the list was comprised of some clothing that matches the new school dress code, and plenty of reading materièl for an upcoming cross-atlantic plane trip.

actually, number 1 on the list was just plain money to purpoused towards....

no, not a next-gen console.  no, not videogames at all, unless i can pick some up that i wouldn't be able to otherwise in London, England.  My school's marching band will be performing in the 2007 New Years Day parade in the heart of London, in the middle of a week-long excursion there.  it's gonna be ridiculous, since we'll basically have about three floors of a hotel all to ourselves..    yi.  anytime you've got bandies confined to one place, things get... iffy?  chaotic?  orgy-like?
at any rate, it will assuredly be what is commonly referred to as a rollicking good time.  The only drawback i can see is... jet lag.
and the whole cross-atlantic flight will be dull as all hell, espescially given my SIX HOUR layover in Chicago... which is the wrong way to get to london anyway.  *rolls eyes at budget travel*

so, since my beloved PSP will only last maybe half that, i'll either need to bring extra battery in some form or other or find something else.  i'll be seated next to my pal Daniel, and we'll play some cards and talk some, but i've basically just stacked a whole crapload o books i've been wanting to read on my christmas list, in hopes someone will get me at least one and i can read in-flight.  well, the GF got me huxley's A Brave New World,. thank god.  now i just... hope no one else got the same thing.  it may not strike you as the most desirable thing to read, but i also got The Pearl  (by Steinbeck), which should make a nice in-flight reader given it's novella nature.  this'll be good practice for the trip to Japan Daniel and myself'll be taking later on...  at least, that's the plan.  can't live without going to japan once at minimum.  got my GF some extremely fitting otaku gear from jinx and other places.
All my friends were asking what i got her, and upon hearing "clothing" were shocked and apalled, and feared for the integrity of our relationship.  growing increasingly nervous, they asked if i had brought her with me when i bought them, (no) and their panic only grew from their upon finding i had not taken my mother, sister, hell even my, dad, brother, cat, or anyone with any knowledge of the female form with me.  They were rather pessimistic about the chances of it fitting, which it did.  in their sorry faces.
anyway... i'm rambling.  happy Xmas, all.  If you happen to catch the London New Years Day Parade, i'll be about four rows back on the extreme left of the Purple+Gold marching band.  (the one with the incredibly sexy Midnight Cowboy cavalier hats.)
    -approximately, matt.
