The XBOX360 can also be an entertainment center, not just a gaming device.
I recently purchased an "Elite" console when my "Premium" console DVD drive decided to quit reading disk. I could have just waited the 4 weeks for the premium to come back from the Texas/ Mexican border (that is where Microsoft had me send it) but I love gaming and right now have a 175 straight days of gaming in a row streak on 360Voice.com. Not to mention 4 weeks is a long time although Microsoft was pretty cool about the whole thing even sent me a data transfer cable device for FREE to exchange the info off my hard drives. Plus supposedly Microsoft have addressed the heating issues with the Elites plus it gave me some cool opportunities to do some things with both of them linked to my home network.
When you start getting into it and seeing what the XBOX360 is capable of (and intended) to do BESIDES gaming is unreal and amazing. I hooked my Laptop CPU with Media Center up to the Elite (through a XBOX360 extender) and can now watch Digital TV through my 360 on my big screen. It takes a little bit of patience and basic know-how but anyone can do it. It also pretty cool that while your watching TV you can see your friends pop on-line, receive messages and all, as long as your signed into XBL. Also play all your music stored on your CPU as well.
I took the Premium I got back and hooked it up in the back room so you take your Gamer Profile and saved games with you if you get kicked of the big screen by your family, and go play in peace without losing anything. Not to mention no more "Split Screen" battles, or have four "in house" players is a very nice option.
