My Friends

My Opinions And Some Random Stuff

  • 26Nov 09

Tonight I managed to climb up to 40k posts! I have two places holding my party: one is at the The Open Communication Center, which I'm a mod at, and another at The Cafe Lounge, the Social Cafe's union board, which I was promoted at last night! All are welcome to check both places out and visit the boards, and I wish you all a happy weekend... since after tomorrow we all have another one.

As for you all, is there a special desert or junk food you really enjoy? I happen to like... I dunno, brownies myself. I'm a huge pizza fan but I dunno if I can call it junk food or not.

  • 26Nov 09

It's the day of giving thanks. It's the day of stuffing your face. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and Happy Holidays, as more holidays are around the corner.

    Any plans on this day?

  • 24Nov 09

Well, for me anyway. My school gives us tomorrow, Thanksgiving, and the day after Thanksgiving off, so I have no school until Monday. Consequently, if you've heard of the Social Cafe Union, that place is planning a reunion for posting of sorts to bring some good spirit. Anyone is welcome to show up and meet the veterans of the union, and we're hoping to make it a big friendly gathering.

I'll be there, AON (my union), and The Open Communication Center. If you'd like to have a little fun and have nothing to do tomorrow, I'll be at these places for the day and you can have some fun with me and all the other awesome users in both places. I look forward to seeing anyone who does show up.

As for Thanksgiving itself, my plans are what everyone else's is probably: pig out, then either play video games or fall asleep until Friday. Friday I have no idea what I'm doing, since I have no plans this entire week. Same for the weekend.

So if you'd like to check those places out tonight before seeing if you'll spend some time there tomorrow, feel free to do so. Again I look forward to seeing anyone that shows up.

Anyone have plans for this week?

Another level, another explanation for the rank.

I can only be talking about my new level, Sheng Long. Sheng Long was supposedly a hidden boss in Street Fighter II. This gag was due to the mentioning of a "Sheng Long" after each level. The mentor would say "You must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance." However, that was a mistranslation; the mentor actually was telling Ryu that he must master the Shoryuken. But due to the mistranslation and the pranks pulled by even gaming magazines, Sheng Long became a mythological figure in the Street Fighter games.

Street Fighter IVmakes "Sheng Long" somewhat realitywith the playable character Gouken. Yes, Gouken is considered the Sheng Long people were pranked into believing existed. This is mostly based off appearance, since Sheng Long was described as a godly-looking figure, and wouldn't you know it, Gouken looks sort of like that... only much more buff.

Anyway, an announcement for me: I became a moderator of a UCB. A UCB is a User Created Board. That board is the sameI advertized two blogs back: The Open Communication Center. This is the first time I've ever become a moderator of a UCB.

Anyway, I hope you liked that explanation of my new level, I put more effort into it than any level description before it, maybe barring Metal Slime.

Today I got a new MP3 Player! I'm so happy!

It's only a 2 GB, but it's better than not having music at all. I got it for $30 at my nearby Wal-Mart. It'll serve me well before I need to upgrade to an MP3 with my space.

Oh, and tomorrow I hit level 27.

  • 18Nov 09

Some of you may have noticed I post in secrecy, and you have no idea how the hell my post count continues to rack up. Well, there's this thing called a UCB. That stands for User-Created Board. This UCB is run by none other than GameSpot's top poster, double_decker. There I find many great people, like MoonFoxx, The_Zoid, fastesttruck, papermariofan57, MistressMinnako and many others.

It's an off-topic board that's called The Open Communication Center. If you are one of those users that just likes to unwind and chat, it's a nice place to visit. There's plenty to talk about and you're quite welcome to make new threads. And the users there that you haven't met are really great people and wouldn't mind meeting even more new users.

So if you need a place to pull a chair up to, type your fingers off, and just have a good time, I suggest that board.

I'll have a blog in th enext day or two for an upcoming event in a certain union going on, too, as well as some other things. But if you'd like to meet up with some new users (and meet some new friends) check that place out.

One thing I manage to help keep me sane with. One thing. Music.

Music is all I have that keeps me from literally going crazy, manic depressed, and other things. I had one thing to help me play music with. My PSP. My computer doesn't have sound and we can't just get it fixed right now since we don't have the money to.

Well, today my PSP was stolen. I know that it's my fault it happened because I didn't keep perfect watch over it, but what type of world do we live in where if you leave something be for less than 5 minutes to go do something for cla$$ it can get taken away and never seen again? I've never stolen anything before. Because I think it's absolutely disgusting to do it.

I'm more so ashamed of the person that did it then the fact that my PSP is gone. I might be able to get a new MP3 player soon anyway, but now my PSP games are uselessly lying around (and if I don't get a new PSP I'll probably end up bringing the games to GameStop).

I am fortunate enough to know that I'm not too beaten up over it, because I have other more pressing emotional problems to deal with. But music is incredibly important to me and the fact that it's gone for the time being upsets me greatly. I'm sure something that held more importance than meets the eye has been stolen from you at one point. We all seem to have been a victim of it.

The last time I had something stolen from me, it was my Game Boy Advance about 5 years back. Thankfully I knew there were only two people that could have taken it and I went to one of their houses to find it right on the living room table, so I managed to recover it. Since then I kept watch over my possessions, and I feel stupid that I didn't do so this time.

Moral of the story: This world isn't as kind as one would think. People are willing to steal in order to get things they desire. Keep a good watch over your ****.

(Note to SonicSpot members: I didn't finish Sonic Rivals 2 completely but I played it a lot, enough to be able to review it. So expect a review soon)

It's not often I have to switch back my mind to something, but after going through copy-pasting issues with Chrome, I'm switching back good ol' IE. It's fast enough for me, and I think it's slow speed(for me anyway)is just due to too much memory being taken up. I can probably get that fixed so it runs as smoothly as it used to.

Why switch back? I've used IE since I got this computer in March. I feel sort of attached to it.

In any case, IE for me isn't THAT bad, I think it's just something that we did to it recently that messed it up.

  • 14Nov 09

Up until now I always used IE for my internet. Always. But lately it's been pretty crappy on speed, and so I switched... not to FireFox... No. I use Google Chrome now.

I guess I like Google even more now with it's neat internet browser.

Which internet browser do you use?

  • 12Nov 09

FaceBook! No, this isn't a joke. I'm usually very ANTI-social networking. But recently I had the urge to keep in touch with my high school pals, so I said **** it and I now use FaceBook. O...M...G...

So if you guys have one, you can add me. If you can find me!

What, you thought I'd provide the info on this page? Nope!

I was tagged by ElitePikachu913. Not even sure if he'll see this blog. First off... the tagging's getting old now. I'm not tagging anyone. Because I think the ones I tagged the last time didn't even make blogs... This is the 3rd time in the past few weeks... -.- Okay, here we go:

    1. I like anime, but I'm not big on manga.
    2. I prefer video games and the computer to books. I hate books.
    3. I havea cell phone that's a piece of crap. I get 80 free "minutes" per month to waste and I can get whatever else I wanna add on, but it doesn't do much.
    4. This is the 4th time I made a blog like this. First time came in about May or so, second came a few weeks back and so did the third one. You're looking at the 4th.
    5. My next theme (avatar, banner, etc.) is being decided upon between Gurren Lagann and Pokemon. Not sure which. If I go with Pokemon, my ol' Pikachu avy is making a return.
    6. I have 3 cats and we're trying to find homes for 2 of them.
    7. Just because I made a Weekly Sonic Ten one week months ago someone said I was 12. -.-
    8. I might bring those Weekly Sonic Ten blogs back since they've been gone for months.
    9. I've never lost points on this site. Never. I plan to keep it that way.
    10. I love playing Dodgeball... now if only my Gymcla$$ would hurry up and let us play it!

Thanks for reading... You know what? I'll tag some users. Make sure they do the blog. If I have to go through with it, so do you.

    julian_jr
    horgen123
    supergt1

If someone wants to be my advocate and PM these guys and tell them they're tagged, please do so. If they don't make a blog, I'm not making one the next time I'm tagged.

Normally I have nothing to blog about. Now I have too much! I am thinking of doing a version 2 of my "Users I Look Up To" blog sometime, but I also feel motivated to make a favorite games countdown since I never did one before. Well, I just gave away my next few blog plans. So let it be known.

I suppose tomorrow or Wednesday I'll start a blog set of my favorite games of all time, then I'll make the version two of Users I Look Up To. After all, a few others made blogs like that recently (it only took a few months before I finally see them popping up... ) so I'll be interested in seeing those first.

So, tomorrow I suppose. Or Wednesday. A grand countdown will begin... Feel free to guess any of my top 20 favorite games of all time.

  • 7Nov 09

Okay, so this whole week I've been in an excellent mood. I decided I'll go ahead and take a blast into the past and show you guys the many avatars I have used. After all, Cloud_765 has many faces, and I guess each avatar didn't get much attention. So without further ado:

This was my first avatar ever. I used this my whole first year and more of using GameSpot. It wasn't until I got my computer in March of this year I decided I needed a new avatar. This is the avatar I used though throughout my early days of GameSpot, and most particularly how people recognized me at SonicSpot, the only union I went to at the time.

My avatar when I got my computer in March. This was used a good amount of time, up until the early days of the union I lead. All-Out Nintendo was made and even still I used this avatar. But then IaskedDudersaperif he could make me a cool new one, and he made...

I used this up until mid May, and this was personally my favorite Shadow The Hedgehog avatar I've had early on. This avatar didn't get too much attention sadly, but I still thank Duder for making it because at the time I couldn't design for crap. Anyway, to celebrate the release of Punch-Out!!, Duder made me...

This avatar was what I used for about 3 weeks. It was my avatar when people were starting to get to know me, and ironically it was the avatar I used when I was promoted at SonicSpot. Soon Punch-Out!! was released, I needed something new, and I finally began to design my own stuff. My first major avatar when that happened was:

    Gimp Stuff 4

Yes, a Pikachu! It was used when I met quite a few users. Some are users you know very well, like julian_jr and fastesttruck, and others I either don't know anymore or regret meeting (sort of ). I was using this avy when I hit 10000 posts, and I was still looked at as an underdog. 10k posts at level 16... I remember when I thought THAT was overkill.

linkavatarcloud.jpg My Toon Link Avatar (WITH TEXT!) picture by Cloud_765

A lot of people began knowing me a little more when I had this avatar. In fact, this is the avatar I had when a lot of users began joining All-Out Nintendo, and so this is the face many began to notice me by. I remember someone I didn't even know sent me a PM saying Toon Link would be happier if that red ruppee was silver.

papermarioavy.png Paper Mario Avatar For GameSpot picture by Cloud_765

I remember this avatar well. Trust me, there are some hidden memories behind this avatar... and I don't want to look too far into them. But around the time I had this avy, a lot on GS was going on, and I moved to a new home. In fact, I remember when my pal World-Ender made a joke that he liked the lead in percent/level he was getting from the break I had to take due to internet loss. Ironically he stopped caring for levels and because of a few vacations he's now about a level and a half behind me.

paperluigiavy.jpg Paper Luigi Avatar for GameSpot picture by Cloud_765

I was one of my favorite levels when I made this avatar up. I was level 19- Gitaroo Man. I remember at the time I was going along nicely, outside GS and on, and then things got rough, and I not only needed a new avatar, I needed one that reflected my personality and emotions at the time. That happened to point to an old "friend"...

shadowavy.png Shadow The Hedgehog Avatar picture by Cloud_765

I was level 20: Metal Slime. Things aside from GS were rough on my personally. I was experiencing a lot of emotional stress at the time. So to reflect that and to cher my up, I brought back an old character I had a ton of avatars of before. I remember due to my immense posting a LOT of users saw this avatar pop up. I mean, I went from 17500 or so posts at level 20's beginning to about 21000 by level 20's end. And it turns out I went through the new Metal Slime, you know, the one that doesn't take forever to pass?

cloudavy.png Cloud avatar for GameSpot picture by Cloud_765

I used this avatar for level 21- Rescue Ranger. I was still down in the dumps sort of when I unleashed the avatar that actually went with my username. Around the time I had this avatar though some of the problems I was facing became a little less bothersome and I began to cheer up a bit. Soon I got a strange idea. Why not use girl avatars and trick new users into thinking I'm a girl? Hey, I like girl video game characters, okay!

darkcloudavy.png Dark Cloud 2 Avatar picture by Cloud_765

Ah, my all-time favorite video game heroine. Monica from Dark Cloud 2. Man, did I enjoy using this avatar. I used this when I was level 22- Blaster Master. And I actually DID manage to trick a few users to think I was a girl with this thing! All in all, when I was using this I was starting to get pretty decent with GIMP, at least enough so that things didn't look all low-quality or something. The next theme I used had the following avatar:

twewyavy.png TWEWY Avatar for GameSpot picture by Cloud_765

A lot of users I knew from a while before using this were incredibly happy to see me using a The World Ends With You theme. and to follow along with my trickery of making users that didn't know me think I was a girl just for kicks, I had used Eri, or the fake Shiki, as my avatar. Soon though I felt the weird urge to make space themes, and these came up:

spacecavy.png Space C Avatar picture by Cloud_765spacecavy2.png Space C Avatar Version 2 picture by Cloud_765

There were multiple variations of the Space Theme I used, but those 2 were the first onesI used. With lack of anything better to make, I sort of followed in the footsteps of fastesttruck. But I eventually thought to myself that I wasn't being myself when it came to my avatars. I needed to think up something that was more... me. So, when I got back into Pokemon, this became my new theme, which I know a lot of you prolly miss me using:

    Luxray Theme

I call this avatar my "The Turnaround" avatar, since I used this avatar when I broke from posting for a while, when I finally sprung up from my depression, and when I cracked the Top Posters list. This Pokemon, Luxray, is my favorite Pokemon hands-down, and it seems to symbolize my inner strength. So it won't be hard to tell you'll see this guy again as my theme in the future.

I had the urge for a new theme recently, which is the one you see now. What willI use next? Who knows. I could end up thinking up the perfect idea today, a week from now, or a month. But in any case, I hope you enjoyed my showcase. Not often you see a user's gallery of old avatars.

  • 6Nov 09

So lately I had feelings for one of my friends. As it turns out, for kicks I went to my Friday football game to see if she'd show up, because even though she has plans, people usually ditch her and she ends up going somewhere else. My gut feeling came through for me. She actually showed up at the game, and I managed to have fun talking to her throughout the entire first half. Then during halftime I told her my feelings toward her.

We talked it over and even my other friend said it was apparant we wouldn't date since she's not ready to, but she understood where I was coming from and she respected that I had actually gotten the courage to tell her, and she respected that I'mactually not a phony like most of all the other kids in our school. After we finished talking things over we joked around again and the second half flew by andwe didn't even pay any attention to the game itself.

Even though we're not dating, we're good friends and funny thing is, because we were alone with no one around us and the fact that we gave each other our numbers before the game ended, people around us might have thought were we dating. So while we're not together, there's always a way I might change her mind, and just as good is that we're even closer friends than before. I guess even if you can't get exactly what you set out for, you can still "win" in the end, eh?

Anyway, thought people that I talked to about this would like to know. Everything is resolved and I'm once again happy and ready to go on with my life.

  • 5Nov 09

It's November 5th. That usually means it's not so much as cold, but it's cool, and you have to start wearing some jackets. The leaves are abundandtly red, orange, and yellow, and at this point there are more on the ground than there are on the branches.

I live in Massachusetts, which is in the northeastern United States. And for pete's sake, the damn cold is enough to be near late November! It seems to me like the past couple years the season's temperature changes prematurely. I mean I saw frost on the grass one morning at the end of October! The END of OCTOBER! It's not supposed to be that cold that early!

And I recall back a few years ago this wasn't the case. It wasn't half bad out years back. What in the world is causing the air to be so cold around this time of year, and then be way to hot in the summer, and also become too warm when spring barely starts? Anyway, I ironically don't think it's THAT BAD out right now, but it's been comparatively colder quite earlier in the year the past few years.

Worse off is New England whether here. You never know what the hell's gonna happen sometimes. It might be windy as heck, it might be calm as a spring morning. It might actually be freezing one day and hot as an oven the next. So my friend came up with a cutesy and quite fitting motto for the weather/climate here: "New England. If you don't like the weather here, just wait until tomorrow."

I seriously hope that's all it takes, maybe we'll have our first snowfall in a more fitting time, like early December, instead of last year we had our first snowfall at the VERY beginning of November. Uhm... Fall is barely over a month in at that point! Do they need to change the seasons' timespans up or something?

Anyway, that's all for this blog... I'll be over in my kitchen... getting hot cocoa... and maybe snuggling next to the heater with a nice blanket...

  • 3Nov 09

Okay, so first of all, if you don't really care for the site at all, it's just a thing you do, you can ignore this blog, cause that's all I am mentioning throughout it. Firstly, I finally made msudude211's Top 75 Posters list. I also get the esteemed "honor" of being thelowest level user on that list. (the next lowest user is level 28, and even then they might have lost points) Anyway, here's a link to one of the many spots this list can be seen. Just scroll down to the second post, that's where last night's update is.

    http://www.gamespot.com/pages/unions/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=27057462&union_id=19251

Next up on the blog, is a question. A lot of site users on various sites manage to go to a site for a long time, some barely a week. Did you ever think you'd get as far as you have and stick around as long as you have on any website forum you go to?

  • 1Nov 09

Okay, so first off, I've reached a new level: 26 - Cyber-Lip. That is the name of a side-scrolling shooter game made by SNK.

Okay now that that's out of the way lemme tell you about my Halloween. At first I planned to go to my friend's, hang around till like 6 PM my time, then head back him and prolly just hang around on GameSpot, and maybe pass out candy. I'm too old for trick-or-treating, anyway, IMO.

Well, I learned one of my other friend's was doing something special and I decided to tag along. We got over there around 4 and played some Super Smash Bros. Brawl till about 8. Around 8 we went into another room and watched the first Death Note movie. The cliffhanger ending annoyed me, but other than that I loved it. Then we took a break and hung around and talked for a little while, and by 11 we watched the second Death Note movie, Death Note II: The Last Word. That was also an awesome movie and the surprised that could be subtely recognized as not surprises at the end were nice.

Bear in mind, I've never watched the anime, or read the manga. I just watched the movies. And I loved them.

So around 1:30, we all split up and headed home. I went with 2 of my friends, and one of my friends' brother, to a friend's house and just crashed there.

    How was your Halloween?

  • 27Oct 09

So it's almost never I blog twice in one day... But this calls for it...I wasn't incredibly close to this users, but he was a friend of mine anyway, and he was the best friend on GS of one of my good friends. Recently, ZeldaRocks9, an officer at The Guide and Discussion Union and Off-Topic Legionaries, has been banned. He was reported for a very old post he made that broke a major rule on GS... the age rule. Now, while he IS 13 now, he WAS 12 when he made the post, and whoever found the post reported him. This is allmyself, PolskaKing, and Papermariofan57 could find out.I can understand why he was banned, I'm just not sure why someone would want to report that when that sort of post was made such a long time ago.

In any case, it's worth noting he was a really cool guy here. He was friendly, sociable, and he was a great officer in the unions he was an officer in. Zelda, we're going to miss you. And Polska will the most, I hope you somehow read this and know that. Goodbye, Zelda. We hope you enjoy your life wherever you go from here.

  • 27Oct 09

Okay, so I've been tagged already, and I didn't even get 10 blogs done before it happened.

I'm not wasting my time explaining each one this time... here you go...

    1. I used to like Digimon. Key word: used.
    2. I was tagged by daxter223... and before that I was tagged by PolskaKing... even though I tagged him.
    3. My birthday was almost Leap Day.
    4. My favorite thing that came from the year I was born in (1992) is the game Sonic The Hedgehog 2.
    5. I've never kissed a girl. Yes, I admit to it.
    6. I believe in a higher power, I do NOT believe in a God. That's just the type of person I am.
    7. I love alfredo meals that my mom and sister make. Seriously, chicken and brocolli are addicting with pasta in an alfredo sause.
    8. I have never rick roll'd anyone before. EVER.
    9. Appearantly I will be on GameSpot's Top Poster list soon that msudude211 makes... and will be the lowest level user on that list...
    10. I may have repeated some things from previous tagged blogs... I've done 2 already before this.

I'm going to tag msudude211, soulless4now, and Spade_Crisis. If only because I know they see these blogs.

  • 24Oct 09

So it turns out I am finally getting back into video games seriously, and I particularly am playing Pokemon lately. I guess it is my inbound excitement for Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver. But in any case, I've beenplaying Pokemon Platinum. Currently got 45 or so hours on it and now finally going into breeding some teams together. Before I started playing it again, I actually hadn't played Pokemon much at all for months, which is weird with it being my favorite video game series.

But it's great to be getting back to my favorite game series again, and I'm happy to be starting to balance out my time here on GameSpot with other website browsing, or playing video games, or hanging out with friends.

And to all that noticed, this IS the first time since late June I didn't get the max cap. I actually was at my friend's house ALL day yesterday and up till 6 PM (Eastern Time) today. I actually managed 2% of the max 5-ish just for coming on, making 1 post, and checking a few threads.

Anyway, back to the interesting stuff. If all goes well I will try to get into online battling, and yes, you can bet I'll accept any challenges. Currently I can't really fight online because my main way of going on Wi-Fi (my friend whose house I was over last night and today) isn't working, and I still don't have Wi-Fi at my house. I hope to get back to online matches (my last one was sometime in early June) and with some all-new teams.

So if you didn't notice my Luxray theme before, that's why I have it now. It's my favorite Pokemon.
