  EPISODE 2: The Job of a High School Host!

  EPISODE 2: THE JOB OF A HIGH SCHOOL HOST!

  

  This episode marks the real start of Haruhi's job as a host. It starts off with a view of outside the school and of the blooming cherry blossom trees. Not a big deal to the plot but they are a symbol of early spring.

  In fear of being late (and never hearing the end of it) Haruhi leaves the library to get to the club. When opening the door the boys are dressed in Tropical Paradise garb. The boys entertain as they do and Haruhi tries to understand what's going on. Tamaki mentions to his guests that the Host Club will be sponsoring a party the following week (And here comes the plot). The girls sitting with Haruhi ask her why she isn't wearing a costume to which she replies "I just don't think its appropriate to wear anything but early spring attire in early spring". However her real reason is because she didn't want to wear the outfit Tamaki chose for her.

  
  

  A girl approaches Haruhi, her next appointment Kanako Kasugazaki. She tells Haruhi that she's her new favorite host. The scene changes to after the club has closed and all the clients have left. Tamaki is sulking and eating commoner's ramen. Kyoya goes on to say that it shouldn't be a surprise that shes (Kanako) has had the "illness" for a while. The "illness" or "Host Hopping" disease aka "The never the same boy twice disease". Kyoya says that most clients pick a host and see them regularly however Kanako always switches hosts, Honey tells Haruhi that she was with Tamaki last. "Oh I see he's upset because I took her from him?" Haruhi asks "SHUT UP!! I COULDN'T CARE LESS!" Tamaki rebutles. He then goes off into a rant about how Haruhi should start dressing like a girl and how she should be more feminine. He thens pulls out a giant portrait of Haruhi with long hair out a chess that says "King's Private Stash" (Or something like that) and says he wants her to change back. The boys still wonder how the girl in the picture could be the same person who first walked through the doors the day Haruhi found the Host Club. Haruhi says its because the day before school started one of the kids from her neighborhood got gum in her hair. "It's a real pain to get gum out of long hair, so I just cut it all off" she explains. Tamaki gets furious when Haruhi refers to herself as a "Dude" and tells Haruhi if she wants to be a host she has to do what the rest of them do. Her orders her to master the Waltz in one week and demonstrate it at the party, he then threatens if she doesn't he'll tell the school she's a girl and demote her back to errand boy.

  

  The next day the Host Club isn't open to guests so they can practice there dancing (Mostly for Haruhi's benefit) Kanako arrived to help Haruhi practice (Which goes less than perfect after Haruhi falls on her) Tamaki is in the corner sulking because he wanted to dance with Haruhi.

  

  After the dance practice Haruhi thanks Kanako for helping her. Kanako looks at the new tea cup the club recently purchased and went on to talk about the type it was and all the things she liked about it. Haruhi points this out and Kanako denies knowing anything about tea sets. A boy then enters the room with a package (Yes more tea sets, and its not obvious at all Kanako knows him) Haruhi asks if hes in the delivery business when Kanako chimes in "*Laugh* Oh Haruhi, your so funny. I mean he doesn't look like the heir to a first rate company" The boy or Suzushima as Kyoya calls him is known to be part of a very successful (Tea productions company??? I dunno sorry). Kyoya talks to him for a while mentioning his studying abroad in England soon, while Kanako seems to look very sad and a metophorical tea cup ride is shown with her by herself on the dimly lit ride (Not spinning). After Suzushima leaves Haruhi says to Kanako "I get the feeling you and that guy are kinda close" She denies again (Not an obvious way at all that she knows him) and leaves. Honey then chimes in saying they do know each other and their engaged. Kyoya goes on to say he knew but that the info would benefit them none so he disregarded it. He and the twins then go on to tell about how Suzushima is an actually pretty boring person. Tamaki being the guy he is tells them its time to improve their strategy "Which one?" they ask (XD). He says its "There job as members of the Elite Ouran Host Club to make every girl happy!" (He's sweet for trying I guess).

  

  Next scene is the party. Tamaki welcomes the girls and Kyoya goes on to tell the girls to enjoy themselves and have a good time dancing. One lucky girl will be named the princess of the party and will recieve a kiss on the cheek by the club's king (Tamaki). Kyoya tells Haruhi she might as well have a good time, however the only parties shes been too are the local fairs in her neighborhood.

  Kyoya tells her she might as well go get something to eat, she asks if they have fancy tuna. The group goes nuts and Tamaki demands fancy tuna. "I hate these damn rich people" Haruhi thinks to herself.

  The boys are then seen dancing except for Haruhi whose off the side. Both Kurakano and another girl look as though there about to ask Haruhi to dance when Kanako shows up and requests a dance. Before the two can dance however the hosts kidnap Haruhi and shove her into the dressing room. Haruhi puts on a pink dress and a long haired wig. The twins then work on her makeup. Tamaki furious opens the doors scolding the hosts for leaving the guests when he sees Haruhi (Lover boy is in love). Still unknown to her Haruhi leaves and enters a nearby room where she finds Suzushima waiting.

  

  Suzushima asks Haruhi if shes the one who wrote the letter in his hand. Confused Haruhi reads it, as it turns out its the cheesiest, dumbest love letter she's ever seen and its shown it was written by Kyoya, Hikaru, and Kaoru. Suzushima then goes on to say that he loves someone else. He says that hes afraid shes over him and hes decided to study abroad to become a better man. "I know its selfish but I hope she'll wait for me.", "Yeah you're right. That is pretty selfish" (SNAP as the random arrow hits him right in the chest). Meanwhile Tamaki leads Kanako down the hallway towards the room Haruhi and Toru Suzushima are in. Haruhi gives Toru (Suzushima) advice and just then... Kanako opens the door to find them together. Upset she runs off down the hall and Toru runs after her. Haruhi says they just made matters worse. "But he did go running after her" Tamaki says back, and suddenly Haruhi realizes why the Host Club exists; to make every girl happy.

  

  Toru catches up to Kanako and takes her hand, lights go off and Tamaki gives the last dance of the night to the two of them "May this awkward couple be forever blessed" (XD). Toru asks her to dance and they start the last dance. Toru tells Kanako he loves her and that he wants her to be his wife. (Remember the metophorical tea cup ride?) The ride Kanako was on earlier is now in color and is spinning with a happy Kanako riding on it. The twins (Finished eating bananas and holding the peels in hand) announce the princess of the evening is "Princess Kanako Kasugazaki" and that her reward will be a kiss on the cheek from the king. (Where did the peels go?) However Kaoru then says Haruhi Fujioka will stand in for Tamaki. "Kyoya said a surprise toward the end of the night would be interesting". Toru tells Kanako its alright and that it will comemorate her graduaction from Host Hopping. Kyoya tells Haruhi he'll cut her debt by a third if she does it (So yeah shes gonna). Honey chimes in saying "You don't think this is Haru-chan's first kiss do you?" Tamaki being the crazy guy he is tries to stop the kiss but (Remember those peels?) he slips on a banana peel pushes Haruhi and it ends up being and "on the lips" kiss. (OH SNAP). Haruhi ends the episode with her narration "I never thought I'd end up giving my first kiss to another girl. But it was such an amazing night. So I guess its just as well."

  

  MY OPINION

  I have to say its not my favorite episode but its still very comical. I love how Tamaki overreacts about Haruhi not being girly enough and how she shouldn't be so popular with the girls. I especially love moments when Tamaki is all lovey over Haruhi. Like when he sees her in the dress. "I can't believe shes so pretty". Hikaru and Kaoru were brilliant in the end with there cleverly placed banana peels. How there just randomly eating them during the dancing scene between Kanako and Toru is hilarious. It wasn't even a kiss on the lips but thanks to Tamaki that's what happened. Dummy (But I love him anyway)
