    Iron Man 3 -- Impressions

Note: This may contain spoilers, view at your own discretion.

Okay, so Australia got Iron Man 3 a couple of days ago and I saw it today, so I have some praise for this movie Id like to share to you all. Im going to get the obvious thing out of the way: its a great movie and this is coming from a guy who has not seen the first two Iron Man movies. The only cinematic history I have with Iron Man is last years The Avengers, where the best character of the movie was Tony Stark (And the God of Ham, Thor). Going into Iron Man 3 blind may not have been ideal for many, but surprisingly you dont exactly need to watch the first two movies.

In many aspects, Iron Man 3 is more of a sequel of The Avengers rather than the previous entry in the series. Tony Stark has been suffering from insomnia due to the events in The Avengers, especially when he entered the wormhole upon defeating Loki with the rest of the group. Along with this, a terrorist known as Mandarin is attacking the United States with bombings and the sort all over the nation. After one of Mandarins men puts Starks ex-bodyguard in a coma that he may seemingly never break out of, Stark wages a one-man war against Mandarin and his disciples.

Now, what I really liked about this movie from first glance is Tony Stark. Robert Downey Jr reprises his role as Tony Stark and as always, hes an egotistical, ignorant genius who seemingly has no weaknesses and will kick your ass no matter what happens. In this movie, he does have some weaknesses that actually set him apart from the iron that grants him his abilities (along with pure science). Whenever the incident in New York is mentioned, he will have an anxiety attack and this happens at least three times in the film. Additionally, if his girlfriend becomes endangered, he will protect her at all costs, even covering her with one of his suits when his home is being torn asunder by Mandarins men.

Its been evident that while everything can get serious, itll always become a ride of hilarity and surprisingly dark humour. Stark meets a young boy who tells him that his father walked out on him six years ago, promptly lying to his wife and son that he went to get a lottery ticket. When Stark is leaving the boy, he brings up that Stark is simply just leaving him like his father did. Starks response? Yes. Now while people in the theatre thought this was downright cruel, I did hear laughs as well and admittedly, I laughed as well. When the comedy is more light-hearted,  it was more appreciated than the dark humour presented during the middle, so perhaps the comedy isnt for everyone, but Id be lying if I were to say it was bad.

The action and the CGI was top-notch, especially because of the fact that it wasnt essentially a main focus. I expected that there would be a fight in every third scene, though instead it seems that it was used when appropriate for the situation. The action was made even better that it wasnt essentially the suit, but Stark himself without the suit. The majority of the action and the film for the matter focus on the humanity and mortality of Tony Stark with the action being the best display of those themes.

At the end of the day, I view Iron Man 3 as perhaps the most epic solo superhero movie ever, rivalling The Dark Knight. It was a shame that there was no applause at the end of the movie, every movie Ive seen since The Dark Knight had the audience applauding. Perhaps many people saw it as another action blockbuster, though this isnt the case. Iron Man 3 doesnt only display the humanity and mortality of Tony Stark, but of the whole human race, with its cast of vibrant and relatable characters. With an ending that closes the trilogy in a satisfactory manner, Iron Man 3 is the best movie currently available in cinemas. If you ever get the chance to take it, Id suggest that you do its fantastic.

    BioShock Infinite Is So Good

Okay, so I've been without Internet for twenty-four days and I've finally got it back tonight. It was my birthday a couple of days ago and I got BioShock Infinite. AND IT'S SO GOOD. Literally, I found no problems with it -- it's everything a game should be. If you're curious and want to look into it, buy it. Don't rent it. Buy it. It's been a long time since I've played a game that made me feel like this. It's an amazing game and you should just... play it. DO IT NOW.

    kthnx, Origin

Thanks for screwing up with the SimCity servers, EA. I now has Mass Effect 3 because of your sillyness.
    PS. Steam's still better.
