I think most Lost fans will agree that this season started off with a bang. I'm totally enthralled into this story line and can't wait for next week. Also to note: Sawyer being shirtless for most of the first epi has no impact on my opinion whatsoever .

On a sadder note, I just read that FFXIII will not hit North America till 2010. Ugh!

Hey everybody. First of all, have a wonderful weekend. We're expecting some rain today and a lot cooler temps tomorrow. We are almost at 70 degrees currently but the high tomorrow is on 56....that's chilly to us. So Monk and Psych premiered last night, I thought Monk was ok (I think it's losing it's steam honestly but I still watch) and Psych was awesome. I'm currently awaiting The Closer to start (on my b-day no less ), Burn Notice, 24, Medium, and most of all LOST! I guess that last one shouldn't surprise you. I hope they are all going to be very entertaining seasons considering the disappointment I've felt with a few shows (Heroes, The Unit). I've been enjoying The Sarah Connor Chronicles and wish more would tune it...it's really been a great show. I've also become addicted to new shows Fringe and The Eleventh Hour which are both very good. I also like Chuck but it comes on the same time as TSCC and I'm too lazy to tape it upstairs...I always intend on catching up on the internet but never do. It's also a pretty good show. Well, I think that's it as far as that goes.

My hubby's b-day is tomorrow and for 15 days I get to call him an old man then I turn the same age and he returns the favor LOL. I've also discovered a new social website Facebook. A friend asked if I had an account so I thought I'd check it out. It's been great so far. I wish you could make layouts to make it more "your place" but other than that the quizzes, groups, and celebrity pages are fun to play around with. I also ended up finding a lot of people from here and other forums were members, as well. So if you have a Facebook page look me up @ http://www.facebook.com/people/Teresa-Reed/1139780483 ...hope to see ya there.

Well, I'd love to report that all went fine with my endoscopy today but the hubby caught the stomach bug my son has and couldn't bring me. Which of course meant, since you can't drive after that type of procedure, I had to postpone it. I also would have had to go all the way to Metairie, which is about 20 miles from here, so I opted to schedule it at our local hospital (same doctor who has little to no bedside manner). The doctor must only schedule days out here on Mondays so I'll have to wait till Feb. 2. They had two earlier appointments but one the hubby is working on and the other was my birthday. No way am I having a procedure done on my b-day LOL. Anyway, if my stomach really starts hurting or bothering me, it still does occasionally, I'll try to make an earlier appointment. As for my son, well he is still on the green side. He said he vomited last night at about 2 a.m. I told him I'd have to give him some phenergan if he throws up again. Darn that niece of mine. I hate when he misses so many days in a row because he'll have a bunch of stuff to make up. Although, perhaps since they are coming back from Christmas break it won't be too bad. :::crossing fingers::: Well, that's my update, I hope everyone else is enjoying less drama*hugs*

I couldn't even tell you the last time I leveled up.,,I wouldn't be surprised if it was a year ago! Well, the kids Christmas break is coming to an end. They start back school tomorrow. I just tell them each day gone brings you closer to summer vacation. I enjoy being home with my kids. They have a few spats from time to time but for the most part it's enjoyable so I'm a little sad, as well, when it comes to an end. Anyway, Tuesday is my endoscopy. I have to go in at 10 a,m. and the hubby is going to drive me. Hopefully, everything checks out ok. All of my other tests have come back fine. Also, my stomach doesn't hurt as much as it was but still has its moments, Most people I talk to tell me it's all a part of the healing process but the doctor wanted to be sure. I've had blood tests and a MRI which all came back normal. So at least I know in other aspects I'm healthy....hopefully time will heal all wounds. Wish me luck.

This is also a birthday month for the hubby and I. He'll be 41 on the 11th and I'll be 29 (again) on the 26th. So already his birthday is right around the corner on Sunday! He's on vacation till that Monday. He's been on vacation since the day after Christmas, He worked Christmas Eve...which left me wrapping presents and I always leave things till the last minute just call me Mrs. Procrastination LOL. The holidays just seem to fly by faster and faster every year. Next, for us anyway, is Mardi Gras which is February 24th. We usually just attend our local parade. It just gets a little too crazy in Metairie and New Orleans for our tastes besides we grew up experiencing it so it sort of becomes old hat if you get my drift. However, if you've ever thought of coming down to experience Mardi Gras I would recommend the parades in Metairie, a suburb of New Orleans, it's a little calmer and more family friendly then the French Quarter ones for sure. Although the Bacchus and Endymion parades are must sees. Here's a linky: http://www.mardigrasneworleans.com/parades.html Take care *hugs*

In honor of the season, I thought I'd rate my favorite Christmas movies:

    1. Christmas Vacation -- I just can't get enough of all the Chevy's crazy antics.

    2. Elf -- A fish out of water tell that makes me laugh everytime I watch it

    3. A Christmas Story -- a nostalgic tale that makes you wish for the innocent days of old.

    4. The Muppet Christmas Carol -- for those of you who haven't seen it it's a the cla$$ic Christmas Carol tale with a twist narrated by Rizzo the rat of The Muppets...it will have you in stitches. Even though it can be a little slow in places, overall it will keep you laughing.

    5. Charlie Brown Christmas -- for those who are old enough to have experienced life prior to the VHS and DVD age you'll remember anticipating this annual viewing. I'm a Snoopy freak....Snoopy rocks!!

    6. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer -- another annually anticipated viewed show although now that I'm older is it me or does Santa seem like one grumpy SOB LOL.

    7. Santa Claus is Coming to Town -- a sweet story in the same sort of animation of the previous movie, which is cool, of how Santa Claus got started.

    8. Frosty the Snowman -- how many of you wanted to kick that supposed magician's butt? LOL

    9. The Santa Clause -- Another funny and original storeline that I enjoy watching on occasion.

    10. The Year Without a Santa Claus -- who can't remember those Heat and Snow Miser songs

    --tied--

    10. How the Grinch Stole Christmas -- another annually viewed cla$$ic Christmas cartoon, that even had a scary remake made of, by the late great Dr. Suess.

So that's my list, I guess JD must have rubbed off on me somehow. Most of these make the list just because they make me nostalgic for my childhood, not to mention they have weathered the test of time. Each generation seems to enjoy them as much as the previous one which is cool.

My kids and I woke up to a surprise today. Snow!! We were all excited. The last time it snowed significantly here was Christmas of 2004 and before that it was all the way in 1989. We've had flurries here and there but this was like pouring rain. It was awesome

Not sure how many this blog will reach given the exodus from TV.com but I'm gonna post anyway...

The title of my blog is "Does It Ever End?" ...why you ask? Well, since my last blog's title was "More Drama" talking about my mom and the drama of my husband working a turn around, read on and your question will be answered. Thankfully the drama surrounding my mom and hubby has pretty much ended. My mom is recouping well and the turn around my hubby was working 13 hour days on has ended. TG!!! Now the drama surrounds me. Here's a brief synopsis:

Recently, I've lost a lot of weight in a few month's time. I started having problems with my blood pressure around my 40th b-day (in January) and chest pains that turned out to be stress (this being told to me by my doctor after the EKG cleared me). Well, that lit my fire. I was determined to lose the weight I had packed on in the last few years. I started dieting and exercising. I guess the trouble started when I started to get obsessed with the exercising part. It was just so cool seeing and feeling those pounds melt away. Fast forward to now. I've finished losing the weight but am still exercising a lot and somewhat watching my caloric intake. I might have a day that's high in calories then follow it with a day that's low. Now on to the dramatic part ...(as if that wasn't enough) ...

Monday, during Thanksgiving vacation week, we decided to take a ride to the Riverwalk in New Orleans. (Sidenote: I kick myself for forgetting to bring my camcorder that I just got as an early Christmas present to post video...it really is pretty down there). Well, we relaxed and ate some beniets at Cafe Du Monde, walked the Riverwalk, ate some very spicy Jambalaya from Messina's, and I drank a couple of medium Hurricane daiquiris. Needless to say I was feeling rough the next day. Coincidentally, having a doctor's appointment for another issue that following day, my doctor noticed that I was holding my stomach and not looking too hot. I told him why I thought my stomach was hurting given all the crap I ate the day before. He wanted to run some tests anyway. They included an ultrasound and a CT of a few of my organs. This included my gall bladder. It seems, which I didn't know myself, that if you lose a significant amount of weight quickly, you can damage it. The tech showed me that my gall bladder was chock full of gall stones. In addition, the walls were "thickened" as he put it. So guess what your little Cajungirl just had on Friday....yes, the day after Thanksgiving....

Gall badder removal surgery. My surgeon said afterwards that it was an ugly looking gall bladder. I share this story because I had no idea that the "gas pains" I thought I was feeling, after the days of eating a high fat diet, were actually gall bladder attacks. Ladies, and even gentlemen, watch how quickly you lose your weight. Avoid the high I let myself get on and lose too quickly. You'll thank me later. After doing a little bit of reading on the subject after my diagnoses I see it's a very common side effect. Thinking back now I realize this has actually been going on for months...not a smart move on my part. So I'm doing ok...I can't drive for a few days but other than that I've just been taking it easy. Of course the pain killers help but the surgery was laproscopic so it really wasn't that invasive. The only incision that bothers me the most is the biggest one under my belly button (out of the 4 that I have). Lesson learned ...just a little too late.

(An update..) Well, another exciting week. My mom was feeling naueseated Wednesday morning so as a precaution the home health nurse had her ambulanced to the local hospital. They did an endoscopy - they were fearful she had some internal blooding because of the blood thinners she's on. The did one and thankfully they didn't find anything. I think it's the pain killers she's on. I was on one of the pain killers she's taking after a surgery I had and I was nauseated so bad that I started taking ibuprofin instead. She's on stronger meds so I imagine it's the same for her. She's feeling better and is back at home after a one night stay. Hopefully the drama is over with and she gets on the mend with no more drama.

The kids, thankfully, had a less dramatic week. Thanksgiving holidays start in a week. The hubby, however, will probably be working on Thanksgiving day...either days (if the turnaround hasn't ended) or nights (regular schedule)...either way he's working. We'll, probably just get out turkey prepared by one of the local places providing the service. I'm not a cook and am afraid my turkey might turn out like the one on Christmas Vacation. I'm looking forward to the days off and hopefully the hubby's turn around doesn't last too much longer.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend

to do a blog...ok you can get up off the floor now

Things have been just a little nutty around here. Let's see ...the hubby has been working a turn-around which has him working 13 hour days and he's only had a day, sometimes 2, a week off for the past month. I miss him.

Then, my mom fell a couple of weekends ago (slipped on a piece of paper on the floor, of all things) and broke her hip. She had surgery last week (a partial hip replacement) and is now already at home recouperating. She's only 64 but I guess if you fall and land the right way it doesn't matter how old you are you'll break that bone. She was in the rehab facility for just a few days and they were amazed by her progress. So now that she's at home the PTs come to her house and help her with her exercises. She really does get around fairly well considering this pratically just happerned.

Also, my son stubbed his toe so hard against the corner of the wall last week we thought he might have broken it. Turned out, thankfully, it was just a sprain. He already seems to be on the mend since he hasn't really been complaining about it. He also had a project due for social studies...I just love project time...not!! They've got one for science coming due in January.

So to say I've been going a little nutty with the stress is an understatement. Things will be a little better, I think, once the hubby is back to his normal hours....which will probably be in another couple of weeks.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend...the weather was just beautiful here.

Ok so I'm a day late and a dollar short...and it's been forever since I've blogged. I've been checking things out here occasionally and I have to say when TV.com first made all those changes I thought it sucked. However, I see they brought back smilies and colored font but only if you click on "read more" for the colored font. That gray font is just ugly. That's a step in the right direction...however...all the white is still blinding and that gray just needs to go. We need more background color, too, I think. Well, that's my brief take on the situation.

I haven't been around in forever and, boy, do I need a new banner LOL. I hope all my buds are doing well.

As for what's been going here...two crazy storms blew through. Gustav and Ike. I guess a very fitting saying would be "when it rains it pours." We actually didn't evacuate for either storm. Gustav hit where a lot of my family lives (Cajun Country) but all are ok and had no damage..thankfully. Gustav tracked fairly close to us ...we had a lot of wind and rain... a lot... but no damage...well, except for our poor blue point juniper bush that was bent over and up rooted. It wasn't very big anyway. Others in my area had tree limbs all over (us, too), up rooted trees, and roof damage...typical stuff for that sort of constant high wind. We were also were without power for 5 days...thank goodness for generators and a/c window units. Then, Ike came not even two weeks later. He was a ton of wind but not anywhere near the level of Gustav. The power went out but only for about 4 or 5 hours. We had more flood damage with this one since our drainage system relies on canals to drain into the lake. Unfortunately, Ike's wind direction blew the lake into those canals so the low lying areas were hit with flood waters. Again, we dodged the bullet on any damage although I can officially say I've had enough for a while on storms. Hopefully the cool fronts that have been coming down continue to do so because they'll keep them away. They act as sort of a buffer but I'm also fine with none developing in the first place...hurricane season, believe it or not, lasts all the way through till November. The peak has passed though...so I'm crossing my fingers we're done for the year. Now, I'm sure our house insurance rates will rise again...they're still high from Katrina. My house insurance tripled...yes, tripled after Katrina. Then, on top of that, many of the insurance companies (including mine) dropped wind and hail coverage all together so we had to get that portion through the state. The state insurance is supposed to be the "insurance of a last resort" so they are expensive. I just read they are going up 30% in my area. I really need to find someone that will cover the whole package again and get away from the state coverage. Several of the big companies quit writing new policies after Katrina, too. Anyway, I guess that's the pain of living in the south.

So basically that's been the big excitment around here...the kids missed a few days of school but they just added minutes to the day instead of eating away at their summer next year for both of them to make up the time.

Well, I guess I'll close by wishing everyone a nice weekend. Our recent cool front cooled us for mornings but we're still getting into the 80's by the afternoon. I can't wait to have a day where I can open the windows and let the cool breeze blow through.

A little local excitement around here. The Bonnet Carré Spillway, located in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana, is being opened for the 9th time since 1937. It was built because of the Great Flood of 1927 that inundated much of the Mississippi River basin. It diverts water from the Mississippi River to the Lake Pontchartrain. The rest of the time there's a park on one side where you can jet ski or have a picnic and swim while on the other you can drive 4-wheelers, dirt bikes, and the like. However, once they open the gates it's all flooded so all the activity is brought to a stand still, well aside from the aquatic animals swimming around.

Here you see the guys pulling up what they call needles with a crane with the river rushing through:

Here are some pics of the water rushing through the needles themselves due to the current height of the river:

Here are a couple of alligators that were swimming around:

And finally, a ship that was passing by on the river...you can see the ship is as high as we are on the levee:

Well, it's the time of year again .... Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday). I thought it might be fun to list some facts about the holiday:

    1. What is Mardi Gras?
Literally, it means "Fat Tuesday," the day before the season of Lent begins. For centuries, people around the globe have sowed their wild oats in preparation for the Christian season of fasting and repentance prior to Easter.

    2. What are krewes?
Krewes are private social groups that put on parades throughout Mardi Gras. Here are some of the names: Krewe of Bacchus, Krewe of Zulu, Mardi Gras Indians.

    3. When was the first Mardi Gras parade?
The first Mardi Gras parade was held in New Orleans on Feb. 24, 1857. The Krewe of Comus began the tradition of presenting parade floats followed by a masquerade ball for the krewe and their guests. A century and a half before, in 1699, French explorer Iberville threw a celebration on "Mardi Gras Island" near New Orleans.

    4. What is a King Cake?
The "king cake" is another Mardi Gras tradition. The cake is named for "les trois rois" or three kings and the feast, Epiphany, that is celebrated on Jan. 6. The cakes are a party staple for the duration of the Carnival season. The person who finds the plastic baby inside the cake (a bean was once the "prize" placed in the cake, but the dolls are more popular now) is crowned king, and custom says they have to buy the next cake and/or host the next gathering.

    5. What are the Mardi Gras colors and what do they mean?
The official Mardi Gras colors are purple, green and gold. These colors were instituted by Rex, King of Carnival, in 1872. The colors have meaning: purple -- justice, green -- faith and gold -- power.

    6. What is a Masquerade Ball?
Masquerade balls are an important custom of the Mardi Gras celebration. The "pre-Lenten" balls began in the 1700s under French rule. During the season of Mardi Gras, krewes have masquerade balls. Each ball has a theme, and people dress accordingly. At the ball, people who receive invitations are "called out" from the audience to dance with the member who invited them. Favors are given to the "call out" partners in exchange for the dance.

    7. Has Mardi Gras ever been canceled?
Yes, it was canceled during World War I and World War II, but not during Prohibition.

    8. Who was the first celebrity monarch of Mardi Gras?
Danny Kaye was the first celebrity monarch of Mardi Gras. In 1969, a new krewe called Bacchus wanted to reinvigorate the celebration so they made the biggest floats ever seen and invited a celebrity to ride as the king.
