My Friends

Gaming 101: College and Games

My life and hobbies. I will post about my experiences and playing on my PS3, 360, and Wii.

  • 17Jul 08

Many people say to PS3 fanboys mocking them that they have to wait for the big titles while they are playing the big games. With the recent E3, this statement now goes toward those with baised for the Wii.

PS3 and 360 have been getting a good amount of huge name hits. Grand Theft Auto IV just came on both platforms and got a 10 here at GS. PS3 owners just got treated with MGS4, also which received a 10 here. The games are defining what we know about games and making strives toward innovation. You could argue this with Super Mario Galaxy, but the game makes hardly any use of the Nintendo's main future...motion control.

The innovation, instead of making games that push the boundries, is to make games that people unwilling to learn button controls can be able to play. For the hardcore games, Nintendo just slaps many control options to play the games, none of them really do anything different than last time. Innovation with the controller was done with Zack and Wiki, where is Nintendo's version of this game?

Now Nintendo gives us features that were already standard on the other two platforms: internet play (only one done decently was Mario Kart Wii) and voice chat (welcome to 2002). They failed to address any real issues with us Wii owners like "With Wiiware, is there a way I can hold more games?", "Is there going to be a price drop anytime soon", and "What is next in store for the big named franchises?". Instead, they tell us we should have been contented with what was shown at E3 instead of the usual "we have big things in store".

Listen, E3 was meant for gamers...not some retail store. Why invite networks like G4, GS, and IGN if this is for the retailers? They don't even need to promote the casual games, people will see Wii on the title and buy it. Casuals don't care about the quality of the gameplay because they don't know better. Anyways, if there was games on the horizon, such as the rumored Pikmin 3, he would have said something. Reggie telling G4 that AC and GTA: China Town for the DS is hardcore, that means there is nothing planned to be soon. The list Nintendo gave us was up until Summer of 2009. It might be true that Mario and Zelda is being worked on, but it is not coming anytime soon. For a game to be coming soon, it has to have screens and videos to get the gaming community excited and Nintendo obviously has none of this.

The PS3 has shown they have a big list planned for later. Resistance 2 and LittleBigPlanet is this year, while Killzone 2 and INFAMOUS is next year. We don't know much about MAG and GoW3 which will obviously be shown next year. 360 has the new Banjo on 360 and remake on XBLA. Fable 2, Too Human, and Gears 2 is coming this year, and there will be many new games planned for 2009 next E3. The third party supports PC, PS3, and 360 since many huge games are on it such as Mirror's Edge, Far Cry 2, and more.

What about the Wii? None of the huge 3rd party titles are coming out. The third party just for the Wii actually does look interesting this year. They have to make up for Nintendo's lack luster showing. Wii Sports Resort isn't even this year. All we get from them is Wario 2D (why isn't a WiiWare game...in fact where were the WiiWare games in E3?), Animal Crossing (ok game, but nothing huge), and Mario Sluggers (I already played baseball in Wii Sports...pass). This means no time near will be the new Kirby Wii game or F-Zero. They are planned for late 09...great.

Including the big release of Soul Caliber IV this month, 360 and PS3 owners will be busy with many games. Wii owners have hardly anything this summer or fall to play. They will be the ones waiting instead of the cows. So if you see a sheep, say "just wait" to him and laugh.

I don't care if you want to expand the market and such. Although what you are doing is leaving your long time fans in the dust. Sure you bring the big franchises back again, but what is the point with such a crippled online mode?

Take pokemon for example, Pokemon Diamond/Pearl was huge due to the voice chat options and having one of the best games for online to be fully functional. Sure the codes were annoying, but it is what fans wanted. What did you do to the Wii version? Kill it...in fact it crashes more often than not.

Mario Kart also. The DS version took off due to voice chat and real online play. Now with Wii version, you only support text. TEXT? *facepalm* The DS version of your franchise is better than the Wii versions. Stop protecting us Nintendo, we don't need it. Your online is weak compared to the others. In fact, Brawl online what I played made me hype it less since it was limiting.

Sony gets too harsh of critism, but they are improving their online. With home around the corner and MGS4 including online play, Sony's online is going to take off. XBL we know is a great feature, but it costs money so it is give or take. PC online is the peak of online due to it being different each game and free for the most part. So Nintendo, just stop it. If you continue this path, the DS will always be better than the Wii. You turn away hardcore gamers and go toward the moms of the family. Your plan will fail Nintendo, casuals will get bored of motion controls and you will be up the creek without a paddle. Start thinking about the long time Nintendo fans and make full functioning online.

Merry Christmas all! I wanted to start off the holiday season by reviewing Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. This musical is the 5th project of Deep and Burton. Does it slice n dice or is it a dull blade?

Imagine London in the middle ages, where orphans where abused and the insane are treated worse. We see a barber who calls himself Sweeney Todd. He tells about how an evil judge, Judge Turpin, tries to steal away his wife, Lucy. He finds her friend, a meat pie maker, and plans to get rid of the judge.

Burton really creates a masterpiece of London. The places are beautiful and the main characters are easily different than the world that surrounds them. The blends of black and white show how dark the times really were. The blood, being brighter than normal blow, show how much death affects the bland world.

The singing in the movie is mostly speech rather than full blown songs. Alot of the actors are not trained to sing, but you can not tell this with some of the actor. Johanna, Sweeny's daughter, has one of the best voices I heard in a long time. Anothony Hope, a sailor that helps Sweeny, also sings beautiful voices to Johanna. Deep also has a great voice, along with alot of the actors. You won't hate the music in this film.

The characters are lovable and hatable at the same time. With Sweeney, you feel sorry for him even though you know he is killing innocent people later on the film. He starts out sane, but the judge that drives him crazy. Judge Turpin is also played by the same actor that played Snape in the Harry Potter films. The role of the mean judge works for him. You will want Sweeney to kill him due to how he treats Johanna and Anthony. The friend, Neille Lovett, is a strange, but likeable character. You will see her try to fall in love with Todd. Many other characters show up in the film, and the cast is all fantastic... it is hard to find a character that acts bad in the film.

The humor is also funny. The elixer compared to piss will make anyone laugh. There are also other points as the young assistant getting picked on and the pies being nasty adding to the humor of the darkness. You are sure to smile at the attempts at humor.

The only complaint that this film has is the excess of the gore. The blood might looks cartoonish, but the amount of blood by cutting the neck is to the point where it is unrealistic. For me, this made the effects of the killing more effective. Other people, however, don't like this point.

Sweeney Todd might be a demon barber. Although, you will love this demon. He shows how a man can become so obsessed with revenge his mind becomes cluttered. The side story with Anthony Hope and Johanna is also touching. It throws a Romeo and Juliet element to this horror play. These parts also have the best singing parts on top of this. This film is one of those films you have to see this year, if the only film you see in 2007. The ending is also very well done. It is not the typical ending and it does not sell out. This demon feels more like a saving grace of movies.

So, we all know what happened the past few days. I don't have to tell you about it. What is making me type this blog post is sadness. Not sadness of the event, but how it affects people. I had my critism with Gamestop editors and mods. But...this is just something.

To have a coward fire someone big and important. Jeff was the funny guy of GS. He made you smile whenever you saw him. So what if he gave Zelda 8.8? Reviews are opinion, and all opinions are right. What grieves me is that he was someone I liked. Someone I could talk to about things. The worst part is how it affects others.

Alex...he was very close to Jeff. In his recent blog post, he talked about SimCity disaster. I also have a feeling Alex knows alot about what happened and that is why he feels so bad. Many other people, such as Carrie and Bob C, were older staff members coming up to show their support. Before you know it, Greg K. will be posting a blog I think. Richie made a blog post about Jeff that was light and humorous. Frank posted in his Live Journal about how much shocked he was. The saddest one came from Bethany with the slime story. After reading that post, I got choked.

I personally never knew Jeff as much as others, but it is hard seeing someone get out of a job for a stupid reason. It just proves good sites get taken over by big corporations who do nothing but cause grief. The days of fun in Gamestop is over. No more fun shows and fair reviews. Now you will be seeing 50 Cent's next game as a Game of the Year contender. I am torn...I want to give the staff money, but not the corrupt Vice President who is nothing but a big fat coward. If any Gamespot staff member wants to contact me, I would gladly pay you something for sticking through all of this.

Society, how short you have fallen. Two big roles have played a big part in much of today's stress. They even affected me in ways. Two simple short words: Cowards and Beggers.

Cowards, they do everything behind your back. They are not brave enough to tell you straight up what is happening and use other resources to get their way. Lawsuits, Protests, Threads, AIM chats, you name it. The coward has used one of these to get their way without the simple and easy way: telling the person what is happening. Cowards are the big cause of today's society. For one, they are bullies. Bullies are the scum of the earth, blaming their own problems on others. Picking on innocent people just because they want something or they feel bad about themselves. Bullies become grown up into killers, taking a life due to their own insecurities. They do nothing now but run from the law or take up space in a jail bin. Yeah, being a coward really pays off at the end. You hurt others and end up hurting yourself. What could have happened if you went straight up to the person or thing that is bothering you and try to solve it? Most of the time it will work.

The other world is beggers. They always want something for nothing. Don't get your way? Beg to others and let them take it care for you. Cry until you get your way. Begging sometimes gets into name calling. Didn't get your way? Call the reviewer "fat" or "dumb". I must admit I sorta did this, and I apologize. I was young and ignorant. What isbad is being old and ignorant. Your sports team didn't win? Cry. Did someone kick you from something? Cry. Cry, Cry, Cry seems to be the answer to these people. Crying never solves anything and tends to annoy people. Ratchet got 7.5, I still like it, I don't care. Yet, people cried and abused Aaron on his blog post.

These two things do nothing but hurt you. I got hurt by bullies for no reason at all in my childhood. I did absolutely nothing to these kids. Maybe the parents are morons, or maybe I am right in that this society is going on a one way ticket down to Hades. Now recently, I noticed this happen alot with me. Cowards hurting not only me, but others as well. Beggers also wanting their way without trying to make it happen. The sheer laziness of today's people is sickening. I am up at 1 AM with these thoughts, mainly for a reason of these two things pissing me off. It could all be avoided if people followed good morals. Morals such as treat others the way you want to be treated and treat your enemies as friends. Would you want people making fun of you all the time? Would you want people asking you for stuff all the time without even trying?

I don't mean those that try to do something and just can't get it. I am ok with those type of people. Those people show at least they care and just lack the ability. Most beggers, however, is gimmie without having to do anything. Now think about it, do you really want people to be beggers and cowards? No, then don't be like that yourself. I learned this lesson early on, but other people still need to learn this.

I used to support Gamespot alot. The shows were fresh, the forums were booming from E3 2006, and the reviews were harsh (but fair). Now after Greg left, what happens? Well, many things go wrong for Gamespot after this big event.

Now the forums are going downhill. The once loved mods, such as Omnislash and JakeT, stop posting and it loses all intelligence. What came from thinking of new and original arguements now has rehashed points and flaming. As a PS3 owner, I try to defend my system. I get called a cow, aka, the SW term for Sony fanboy. Now I have a 360 and Wii also, but obviously defending my system is wrong because they are right. What became intelligent debate became elitism for the stupid. Although I can't blame them, the rules in most forums are at an all time high. It is hard to disagree with an intelligent post and get modded for something silly such as calling the arguement "thoughtless". I still visit the forum time to time, but not to argue. I spread knowledge and humor now in the dark abiss named System Wars.

The reviews also went down. After Greg left, somespecial areareviewers (Aaron) are forced to review many other games not of their favorite genre. Also, games don't get rated what you would think. Zelda, a mostly AAA series, gets an 8.8 and Nintendo fanboyswent mad. Jeff is not trusted by most people due to the reviews after not making much sense. After this, the review system gets changed to .5 spacing for each review and people are not happy. They felt that the reviews would not be gone into detail. Having a picture to summarize a game seems lazy to me, but that is their review system. The bad reviews would be the case for many games later on. Kevin O. becomes the new editor in chief. Most people didn't see him in light due to his Metroid Prime 3 review having many contradictions. Healso rated BlueDragon 1.7 points from the average (6.0 compared to 7.7). Even recently, Aaron rated Ratchet and Clank Future7.5, 1.6 points from the average (9.1).

Although, we can use Gamespot, right? WRONG! The glitches are at all time high. Rather if it is your message not showing up, trying to edit your post only to make a double post, or PMs showing up blank. It seems a bunch of monkeys could do a better job programming the servers. Seriously Gamespot, IGN doesn't have this problem. Why are you having so much problems?

You could say IGN is ignorant, but they are still a major website. I still support Gamespot due to some reviewer (Ryan Davis and Alex N.) still having good reviews. It is turning out Gamespot is going to kill itself. Glitches, reviews, or lack of freedom could be the driving force of less users. Some people might say "This is GS, if you don't like it, go!". You are just proving my point, saying you are happy with almost no community. Gamespot is seen as a joke in most other websites (NeoGAF, N4, etc). What we should do is bring back the old review system, making the reviews judge a game harsher. The forums should be looser and more punishments should be for stupid actions rather than personal bias. Hire a bigger server team to fix all these glitches so people can freely use it, Gamespot. Learn from the past, which is better than the now.

PS: Oh yeah, Gamespot messed up my spacing. They also almost deleted my blog post. Gah!!!!

Ah, Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions, you gave me a good idea for a blog post.

The first thought I have seen was the conflict with the rich and the peasants. Hate due to how much money a person owns. This is still shown today through other reason. People hate each other for not willing to think like each other. Overzealous christians hate people who love the same sex. I am Christian, but I hold a open mind. I don't tend to hate anyone unless they act mean toward people.

The hate of the society breeds from their own bad experiences or different views. Both of these thoughts are wrong. With bad experience, you should try to seek help to clear your mind of the bad events of your life. You should also respect each other views. The human society has not evolved, rather have devolved to a form that craves hate, looks, and material things. Where is the drive to become a scholar and make great things? That is right, Britney Spears wants us to give us more "entertainment".

The second thought was theEnglishlanguage. The evolution of language hascometo alot. While y is sometimes a vowel, it isbecoming more and more of aconsonant. Thy means the in modern language. Sohas the rule become null? No, itstill applys to some words.Theold english had some spark to it. The translation has an artistic style to it thatflows the tongue. The modern language has translated to simple and boring.

Whereis art spoken in tongue? When people use words that most people that they don't understand. Such asoxymoron oronamotapia sounds rich, but lots of people can't sayit or spell it.Ieven had to google"onamotapai" just goes to show that America has lost its roots with arts. Hopefully another renaissance canhappen to make newart.Movies and games have had its high points this year, soit might be sooner than you think.

Also, Gamespot, you messed up my spacing! Gah!

Hello all, here is another blog post by Blaze. This time the subject is Halo and it getting 9.5. I will admit I shunned Halo 2 and its single player when it came out due to it not being as great as Halo:CE in my opinion. Well, after replaying Halo 2, I can see that Halo is the prime example of the FPS for the console. I will go into detail into each game.

Halo:Combat Evolvedcame out with the original Xbox. It looked horrible at E3 and almost had no hype behind it. So what happened to this game? Bungie pulled a miracle and make this game the best FPS to come to consolesto date. The reason why? It is due to the experience.

Even though the landscapes repeated themselves, you felt like Master Chief. You were the single force against the aliens known as covenant and the legendary weapon known as Halo. The voice acting and characters react with you, making you feel you are the character. The weapon variety from the every handy pistol to the covenant needlers. Many had its strengths or weaknesses, which made up a good variety. The multiplayer is also as fun as single player. The feeling of sniping a person on top of a landscape felt so good. It brought the experience of Unreal to the console people that could not afford a gaming. Alot of gamers loved this game for a good single player and a great multiplayer. There is little reason to doubt the game's score of a 9.7 in Gamespot.

Halo 2 came out in 2004, 3 years after the original. Master Chief has to go to earth to fight off the covenants and the three prophets: Truth, Mercy, and Regret. Youalso play as an Elite, also known as Arbiter, who is a servant for the prophets. He starts to learn that the prophets are not his true allies throughout the story.

Halo 2 was mixed up in views. The single player had an ending which alot of people hated. This turned off many gamers from this sequel. Some also considered the single player in general too stretch out and lacking of a hard hitting plot. One part of the game that people can't argue about is the multiplayer.

The multiplayer offered what gamers wanted all along: online. The online play allowed people to fight against strangers all around the world. It also allowed you to play as the covenant, which made it interesting to fight the enemy in multiplayer also. You could earn medals on various tasks you do, which added alot of replay value. The new weapons were seen as a good thing. The covenant weapons such as Carbine made the weapon variety more, along with the melee weapon the Energy Sword. Some weapons got weaken such as pistol. This has been made up allowing you to dual wield your weapon. The only downside about this is that you can't throw grenades while you do this. The vehicles such as ghost also added in variety to Halo 2. Halo 2 was the definite multiplayer experience on a console. This is why Gamespot gave it 9.4.

    PC Ports

Halo:CE had a port also released around the end of 2003. It offered many exclusive options such as online play. Since this was before Halo 2, many people loved the PC version and call it the complete version.

Halo 2 also came to PC in May 2007 exclusive to Vista. While the game is great, it felt outdated due to nothing really being added besides Games for Window content. There was also issues with how it responded with the 360 controller. You pushed A and it would sometimes shoot your gun.

This Tuesday, the final Halo will be released. Many people where hyped, many people who were disappointed by Halo 2 were not sure. So does Bungie do to make you want Halo 3? Say that they were disappointed with Halo 2? Was it a smart tactic? Yes, it was. Although Bungie really did seem disappointed and seek to make their best game yet.

They brought many changes. Weapons? Spartan laser and Brute hammer. Vehicles? Hornet and Brute Chopper. MP changes? New helmets and medals. They also brought new thing called equipment. Equipment ranges from a bubble shield that protects you from harm to a trap mine that can blow up vehicles if they run over him.

What else new did they bring? Well, they brought a whole new mode called FORGE. FORGE is the ultimate user level maker. You can delete, buy stuff and drop it, and many another things you would expect. The twist though is that you are a monitor like guilty spark. So you can do this while fighting each other. You can expect many vehicle droppings to occur.

Also a new section is video mode. You can go back to your level and mess around the angles. Accessible on all modes, single player or multiplayer, you can move, bend, and twist the camera any way you want it. You can even upload your videos if you are a gold member. You can buy a Bungie membership that allows you more space if you are big on it. The only problem is that you can not mix it with other levels, only one run of a level or match.

You can also play with a buddy online. This time instead of 2 players, you can play as 4.You can gather though a lobby and play though missions. Each mission has points based on certain skills. Melees count more thangun shots. A brute counts more than a grunt. This allows for great multiplayer for people who hate going against each other.

The story has been amped up also due to many critics loving it. I happened to see the ending which in my opinion is better than the Halo 2 one. I even like the hidden ending which I won't say how to get. I am looking forward to playing this one. As a Halo:CE lover, I want to play this one badly. I can see why Gamespot gave it 9.5.

    Future of Halo?

Halo is not quite over yet. With an announcement of a spin-off, Halo seems to still be alive in spirit. One notable game is Halo Wars.

Halo Wars is a game coming in 2008 that is a RTS based around the Halo universe. UNSC goes against the Covenant in this game set for 2008 release. Ensemble Studios, a maker of many famous RTS, is in charge of this game. Halo Wars will be an interesting game due to it being an RTS built ground up for the console rather than porting a PC game.

    Media Impact

Halo has not only been on consoles, rather it hasbeen in many other sources. Take Halo: Fall of Reach, the first book of the Halo franchise. This one takes place before the events of Halo and explains more about the masked hero. We learn his name is John and he was a human built up for war. Halo:The Flood is a novelization of the famous Halo:CE. While not much new info is revealed, the book sales very well among Halo fans. Another book comes out called Halo:First Strike. This is based between the events of Halo:CE and Halo 2. Afourth book, planned for 2008, is called Halo:Contact Harvest. It is based on the young life of Sergeant Johnson.

A comic book made by Marvel also came out recently. It is called Halo: Uprising. These four books take place between Halo 2 and Halo 3. The art resembles most of the grimmer comic books out there. The second issue comes out in October.

With the release of Halo 3, many sources took hold. G4 is hosting a Halo 3 countdown Monday. Mountain Dew marketed a new drink called gamer fuel. Many stores, such as Walmart and EB Games, are holding midnight launch parties for Halo 3. EB even marketed a campaign for pre-ordering Halo 3 called "Goodbye Halo 2". There is even three editions of the game: normal (just the game at 60 dollars), limited (bonus material for 70 bucks), and legendary (bonus material + cool helmet) priced at 130 dollars.

Will more spinoffs happen? Who can be sure to say. One thing is clear though, Halo is no doubt the FPS image of the console. All games have been received highly and many people are hyping Halo 3. Even though you hate Halo, you can not doubt Halo had an impact among all gamers: casual or hardcore.

Well, lots of new games have came out and I wanted to compare my thoughts with GS thoughts also.

    Bioshock (9.0):

At first, I thought "why?" After playing the game, I can see why they gave it 9. Only having 2 endings based on if you saved or harvested once in the game. You could save all and harvest one...still a bad ending. I also wanted to identify with the main character, I did not feel pity for him. It felt like a ride in Disney World, it was cool experience...but it could have been so deep. Maybe I just expected more due to playing System Shock 2. Overall though, the game was a great FPS. One of my favorite in years.

    Blue Dragon (6.0):

I first thought "WTF?" After I played it, it was still unfair. I mean, the review was right in some parts. It was cookie cutter in a few places (Gears and Halo was still more) and it is not changing that much, but is it still fair? It allow active turns, field and barrier things, and class exchange. It is7.5 to 8 material to most people. I don't see what the reviewer was going for.

    Warhawk (8.5):

When I first played it, I agreed 100%. This game is just fun. It is easy to control, easy to set up, and fun to play. More of these type of games need to come out. Star Fox Online might not have to be made now due to this game!

    Lair (4.5):

I agree with this one. The review copy I played was funidea and setting, but I could not control it properly. I thought it was a review copy issue, but it seems to be a general game idea. I would have given it 5-6, but I can see why it is 4.5. The setting was great and dragons are great, but the controls suck alot. My dragon lover sense is dying!

    Metroid Prime 3 (8.5):

This game is plain fun. The controls made a dull franchise (IMO) come alive. No more backtracking and it felt like a great FPS controls. I love the game for being new and fresh. The controls are what I want FPS games on the Wii to be like. They are great once you play it some more. I thought it was all 9. Too bad it got .5 deducted.

Hello all, long time to update blog. I just wanted to say that Bonus Stage is going great. I hope you can sign up for it.

I just imported Ouendan 2, and it exceeded what I expected. Not only does it bring another great soundtrack, the gameplay is harder and more percise. "Bambina" is the best song on there due to its energy. If you have to import a game, then this game should be it.

E3 also came and went. I am dissapointed due to just lack of anything awesome. Sony did have a great showing, but one company should not hold the attention. Microsoft was too focused on games this year, which are few and far between. Nintendo was too focused on trying to make the casual market happy to not introduce any new IPs. Resident Evil 5 looked cool, but that is confirmed now to be 2009. Where was Elite Beat Agents 2? Where was Phoenix Wright Wii? Where was 2008 Xbox 360 games? Why is Final Fantasy only 13%? I really think this is the gen of waiting...

Overall, it was a nice show and all, but I wasn't moved by it. I guess I will have to patiently wait for some new IPs to be announced for a system other than PSP or PS3...

Yes, that is right. I now own a PS3. I never thought I would get one, but being a senior in high school has its good and bad.

Resistance is an awesome game. I never had such fun with a first person shooter for awhile. The story blends Halo:CE with the likes of CoD and it does this seemlessly. I haven't multiplayer yet I only had it one day. I will post my impressions of that though.

Although, there are some things with PS3. For one, the update to 1.7 takes forever. It took a long time to download, but I can play PS1 games on my PS3, which is nice. Also, you have to set wireless by options, which kinda sucks if you don't know about it first. Background downloading is also great, it helps what 360 took away ( I miss tabbed downloads! )

I also have to add that 1.8 is godly. It allows AVIs to be 1080p, upscales any PS1/2 title to 1080p, and syncs with any computer that supports Bluetooth. Sony rocks!

I updated my blog post with some better discriptions for all of you. If you have any questions about a PS3, I will be glad to answer them.

    1) I am updating my Gamespot profile with new information and emblems. I am also sending invites to many of my friends. I want to spruce it up since I will be running a whole new site and have a chance to be officer of GUFU. I want to be a shining example of both of them to attract people. Although Bonus Stage is a big deal to me, GUFU still has a good place in my heart. It is just I want universal internet instead of just Gamespot, you know.

    2) I seen lots of people voted for me in the elections, and I want to thank you for your support. It is nice to see people really like me. I actually thought lots of people hated me in Gamespot to be honest...

    3) My site is in beta stage now, meaning I want to get users to sign up and post. The site is Bonus Stage and I want people to sign up and take a look. I do plan to write more articles and new layout, it is just my senior year and I have lots of stuff to deal with. The summer is when the site will get in full swing. If you do like me though, please sign up. Also, I am looking for staff people also. If you can make great reviews, please apply. I am open toward anyone wanting to be in staff.

Just a break from my usual serious and long blogs I make. I will make a serious blog again when I get a PS3.

I played many games in my time, but I have really enjoyed Super Paper Mario probably as much as I have Dead Rising.

It makes you think why platformers haven't implicated some ideas like items to help you out instead of collecting things that we have done for years and years. The 3D Flipping thing is more trippy than anything else because you are like "I have been here before" and flipping over you are like "This is awesome!". I also like how you can level up to get health and collect cards for attack. Unlike Ratchet or Sly, you won't die with a couple of hits. The puzzles are pretty cool also, you will be wondering to use Tippi or go 3D.

The only complaint I have to say is Mimi thing. I should not have to stop to collect money, that is what makes platformer boring! The pacing during the first 30 mins are slow, but it gets better when you reach the dragon. 404- Hamsters not found! The game is a must buy for any Wii owner, they will have a blast with it.

Now, about GH2 song packs. It costs 500 points for 3 songs. When you get down to it, you are paying 98 bucks for the first game. Developers need to stop milking DLC, that is ruining this gen. I was hoping I could get rid of my fat PS2 for a PS3, but looks like I have to get slim because KH2: FM might hit the US and I am still going to play the original GH. My whammy bar might be not working, but I am not going to pay 98 bucks to get the songs. Seems like anything with Market content isn't worth hyping. GTAIV will probably make you buy planes to get to half of the game. I hate DLC, damn greedy developers...

Well, I am signing off. If anyone is going to get Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, I will own you with my Gyrados! Fine, I admit it. I only know the first 151 Pokemon. Don't look at me that way!

We know there is alot of PS3 hate on the web. I blame Sony for personally showing CGI in E3 2005. Many people believed this is what games would really look like. Then the reality came of E3 2006, and it was kinda boring. This is when it was cool to hate PS3, and fanboys revolted. Now I am here to explain 10 reasons how to give a PS3 a good image again.

    10 ) 2 systems =/= 1 system

Wii60, the wierd offspring that came after E3. It was said to be 600 for Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii would give you the same sastifaction as the Playstation 3. You and me know that this isn't true. Main reason is that you have to support 2 system worth of games instead of 1. Plus, PS3 functions as an alternate Blu-Ray player when you get bored. So PS3 deserves as much as a right to be in your system collection as Xbox360 or Wii, right?

9 ) The games are coming, relax

MS got 7.9 and VF5 got 8.1, I guess the PS3 isn't worth getting right? Wrong! Remember, Wii and PS3 have droughts of games now. Why you ask? It is very common for the first year of a system. Xbox 360 had the exact same problem also. People are thinking only AAA games are worth playing, but A-AA games are just as fun to play. Also, Lair and Heavenly Sword are coming soon. This should make anyone want a PS3.

8 ) Making good news into bad news needs to stop

PSN Home is a pretty good idea that can work out for the best. It combines Sims with achievements, and best of all it is free. What do fanboys do when this comes out? Saying it is a rip-off of Second Life or Sims! Last time I checked it is free, why the heck are you making bad news? People need to learn not to get influenced by people with no clues. Make your own decisions and do some research on the PS3!

7 ) The PS2 has nothing to do with PS3

PS2 was a huge success. It had plenty of games and plenty of sales. It outsold Xbox and Gamecube by alot. People only expect the next console in line to do better. What people need to realize that nothing will outdo the PS2. The Xbox and Gamecube offered the exact same things as the PS2 did. Both systems didn't really have anything different than games. All consoles are worthy buys this gen. Wii has motion controls, Xbox 360 has the achievements, and PS3 has the power. This gen looks to be pretty even in sales.

    6 ) E3 2005 was a prototype PS3, deal with it

E3 2005, the PS3 came and showed with a bang. The graphics look super great. The system had many slots and ports. A year later, E3 2006 came. The PS3 was downgraded. People moaned and cried. What people need to learn is that E3 =/= future. It is to show what they were working on, and obviously the PS3 needed fixing. You could really tell due to the wierd controller. Less ports might be because PS3 couldn't handle that many things plugged in. People need to except it.

5 ) Tilt is kinda cool no matter how much you resist

Tilt, we first experienced this thing in Kirby's Tilt and Tumble. It was fun, we all know it. PS3's SixAxis comes with such feature. Even though rumble will be missed, tilt can be used for great things. It is fun trying to shake someone off you in Resistance. The motions work well in Motorstorm. Lair is based around tilt due to being a rail type game. Tilt has potential to be something great, if developers decide to implant it.

4 ) Sony is adding things to PS3 as I type

The PS3 is in update 1.5 right now, that means 5 updates happened for PS3. Sony is really concentrating on making the PS3 great. They added PSN Network to download PS1 games and some PS2 games/arcade games. They are working on a thing that allows you to download movies and music straight to PS3. Recently, Home was also announced to let people roam with each other and have achievements. Maybe Sony will give us Gamercards to show on the internet. The point is that they are trying right now to make us happy.

3 ) The media needs to stop helping the hate

The media obviously likes being a big bully to PS3. I mean, TIME's top 5 dissapointing things of 2006. PS3 was number 3. I guess the Xbox 360 had a huge launch also. Wait, did it have a huge defect rate? I thought so. The game sites are not helping also. Gamespot is one suspect. The comparision of graphics obviously makes it that Gamespot likes to compare bland graphics to bland graphics. The PS3 hasn't even hit its graphical potiential like the 360 did. Also, the tipping article does nothing but bring fanboys out. Please Gamespot, try to have Xbox 360 and Wii hate to even the hate curb?

2 ) Developers are having a tough time learning the system

The PS3 is complex. You know it, I know it, and the developers know it. The PS3 is hard to develop for. Even the head of Mistwalker said "PS3 is hard". The Xbox 360 gets a nod for having very easy developer kits. I have faith that the developers will figure out the kits or Sony will make it easier. It is not due to lack of interest for PS3 is the reason the games are not coming for it.

1 ) The price is worth it considering what you get

500 dollars for the core, and 600 for the premium. It is a heafty amount for money for anyone. Many people called it overpriced. Have this people really seen what is in a PS3? Well, you have a Blu-Ray player, those are normally 700-1000 at stores. Then you have HD graphics in 1080p, that must cost 100 bucks. Then you got the system itself, that is 300. Wireless, well Xbox 360 has that for 100. That covers the difference between core and premium. 20 GB is 100 according to Microsoft. So the premium PS3 is 300 dollars worth of memory. The ports are 20 dollars to add also. The cell technology must cost 100 bucks I guess. Consider the PS2 chip that lets you play PS1 and PS2 games, that is 50-100 right? I can see why Europe PS3s don't have one. See, when you list it, the price is fair, huh?

There ya go, 10 things that can help the PS3 be considered a buy to many people. I will get one in May, I hope you get one soon also!

It is a new year: 2007! Not only did this year bring a new year, but it brought two new consoles: PS3 and Nintendo Wii. I had a X-box 360 for awhile as many of you may have known, so it was wierd going from the classic experience to a whole new one.
Well, the transaction was not that bad. Plenty of the games have been a blast to play. This blog will go in depth about the Wii.

    Design:
The design of the Wii is light and small. It feels like carrying a PS2 or N64. The console comes with some useful things like sensor bar, full set for Wiimote, and Stand for the Wii. It also comes with spme useless things like sticky putty for the sensor bar and a stand to hold the stand for the Wiimote (I know, confusing, ain't it?). The Wii is designed also to emulate Gamecube, which this system does a perfect job. There are no errors or problems with any Gamecube game. The Wii sucks the Gamecube and Wii games just like the PS3 does. Even though you think this might get stuck, it never has this problem.

    Interface:
The Wii comes with these channels to show you the sections the system has. There is one for games, Miis, photos, shop channel, VC games, and the new Internet Beta and Forecast channels. The channels have a preview once you click it, which is a pretty neat feature.
The Mii channel lets you create basically an avatar of your choosing. The features in this channel is pretty cool letting you change colors, parts, and sizes/positions of the parts. It even lets you change height and weight. The design is not that complex, but it is deep enough to create many different Miis. You can even send your Miis to your friends to have a parade and let them star in games like Wii Play, Wii Sports, and others. This no doubts beat the pictures that 360 and PS3 offer.
The Photo channel is pretty basic. It lets you view photos and edit theme with a feature that resembles Microsoft Paint. You can also organize your photos which comes in handy if you have lots of them. The best part of the channel is how it presents itself, it is a fun tool that lets you mess with your photos.
The Wii Shop channel allows you to shop for classic games ranging from Sega Genesis to Nintendo 64 and it also allows you to download features for Wii such as the Beta Internet browser. The channel is presented very neatly. It lets you see the download content by new releases to a-z order. This section only the problem of sometimes freezing when it loads. While you won't loose your purchases, it is still annoying to hold the power button for 5 seconds.
The Forecast channel is a hit or miss process. It shows you details about weather in your town. The problem is that it doesn't get many lesser known towns. For example, I am going to Starkville, MS to MSU next year. MSU is a college if you don't know. The only place the Forecast channel has for MS is Jackson. So the channel does me no good. If you live in a known city, then the forecast channel is useful in letting you know your weather without having to cut off Wii and turn to Weather Channel. The forecast channel has a feature that lets you have a globe of earth which shows different cities of differents continents, which is the star of this channel.
The Internet browser is in beta mode. It allows you to surf many popular sites like Youtube and Newgrounds. This is very useful if you don't have a computer to call your own. Basic features come with it such as favorites and keyboard. The Wii makes typing easier than PS3 with a feature that allows the system to reconize a word before you type it. For example, you can type GRA and then get choices like "grab", "gravy", or "gravity". The only problem with this is that the Wii has a problem freezing when you browse. It happened to me 3 times while surfing the web. Let us hope they can fix that in the final release.

    Controller:
The controller is nothing but perfect. It is simple enough for anyone who has interest in games to pick up and play, but very complex in some things like the Marble Minigame in Zelda: Twilight Princess. The Wiimote uses sensitive motions to move the characters on screen. You can turn it sideways to steer it like a car, use it as a pointer to aim arrows at enemies, and slash it like a sword to slice enemies down. The A button is basically a regular controller pad button. It is hardly used even though it is easily place. The B button is alot more useful. It is a trigger in the back of the Wiimote. You can use this to start aiming an arrow, bowl a bowling ball, or shoot a plunger at rabbids. The start button is in a shape of a + button. It is right next to a select button in a shape of a - button. The house button takes you to an option to go back to the Wii's main menu. This is a standard for all new consoles, so it works for the best. The 1 and 2 button is not used alot, but it comes very handy when you have to hold it sideways. When it is held sideways, 1 acts like A button and 2 acts like a B button of a NES controller.
The Wiimote can also have 2 certain attachments. One of these is the nunchuck. This holds the Z and C buttons, which many games of a higher depth use because it needs more buttons. The nunchuck, unlike the Wiimote, is only tilt sensitive. So you will have to shake it alot more to get it to work. This shows a problem when you have games like one where you have to act like your are paragliding. Since the 2 things are alot different, one hand will be shaking while the other is calm. This is a major problem in using both together. Of course, many games use the nunchuck different than the Wiimote which is the right way to go. Many just use it for the 2 extra buttons or shake to do a certain attack like spin attack or grenade. The analog is also a major reason the nunchuck is used. It allows you to use the Wiimote as a gun and guide the person with the analog in Red Steel.
The other accessory is the classic controller, which costs around 20 bucks. This tool is very useful for all the classic games. The D-Pad feels just like the Wii's, but the controller resembles the classic SNES controller with an extra button on the top (it is dublicated and placed near the other bumper so it can be used with either hand) and two analog sticks in the middle just like the PS2 has. The buttons are all the same shape, which makes it way easier to use than the Gamecube controller. The D-Pad also gives the classic controller the upper advantage because the Gamecube's D-Pad is way too small for anyone and it is placed in an awkward position. The main problem with this is that it is a charm with many older games, but the analog sticks don't feel right for N64 Virtual Console games. You are best off just using a Gamecube controller for those games.

    Overall:
Even with some of the bugs, the Wii is a great system for anyone that has ever played a video game. The controls feel like the classic NES, but with motion added to allow you to play a game how it should be played rather than pressing alot of buttons. The graphics on the Wii are underpar because of the lack of HD, but this sacrafice helps the Wii stay under 300 dollars. The main problem of Wii is that the games, besides Zelda and Truama Center, really lack depth that many games on 360/PS3 don't show. There is hope that in the future that developers can make very complex and addictive games for the Wii instead of games like Super Smash Brothers that you play for a bit and get tired of quickly. The Wii is looking to win the console wars with its friendly approach to gaming that attracts hardcore and casual gamers alike. The developers hold the fate in the Wii. I am saying that the Wii has much potential, everyone should buy one to have and play.

It has been awhile since I posted a blog, so here we go.
Music games have been overseen alot in our culture. The first game to pick up craze was DDR.
I love DDR alot, but it seems the same old thing over and over.
I got into Amplitude alot. That set up the standard for music games at that point.
Gitaroo-man came to PS2, and that game is one of the best experiences I had. It made me feel like a rock king. Until 2005, we just had that game.
Then we got Guitar Hero. This blends the rythem beats of Amplitude to rock songs. The game works really well and is fun to play.
We got the sequal this year,GH2. The whole new soundtrack and diff. increase makes this game shine.
Elite Beat Agents also came out this year. The point it tapping numbers to the beat. This game has an amazing presentation with fun music and well drawn stories.
Music games have evolved alot since DDR. I have a good faith in the game industry to move forward with this. I love music and the blending it with games is getting better and better...

Well, I typing this at 1:31 AM...
Summer has really gone by fast! The mix of GS, 360, and chores made it go too quickly. I must say I had fun times during summer besides babysitting my 9 year old cousin >_>
I move back into the dorms August 2, so don't expect to hear from me till the 4th or 5th. I have always been at the 3rd floor last year (lucked out without having to move), now I am on 5th floor. A whole new floor and classes with new people to interact with (Juniors). I hope I can make friends with some the juniors and not suffer senioritis
Ah senior, time to apply for college. MSU will probably be my first choice. I hate writing things, but this will have to get done. Graduation will also happen, which will be awesome! Still, I am glad with getting over my hometown. In fact, I really only had 1 true friend. This year is the year to start making friends and MSU will be a huge expansion also. In fact, I already know 3 people I talked alot with in high school are going there also.
Well, I am getting tired. BlazeDragon132 over and out!

Ahhhh, what a fun week! I started out about Tuesday, I think. I started out watching the conferences to see which one gets me.

PS3: I was kinda dissapointed, Sony lied about everything last year and just talked about  stats. I about fell asleep. I don't even think PS3 was actually there, just like Wii.

360: This one was good. Gears of Wars demo was fun to watch. Peter Moore was fun to watch. Live Anywhere ended it with a bang!

Wii: This was the funniest and funnest one to watch. Reggie was talking like a pro. Tennis was also played by 4 adults, which was fun to see. Zelda demo was ok. I am looking forward to this one.

That is my thoughts about it, will post more once I spend more time with my 360.
