On my weekly Friday beer buy I went into Blockbusters for a little look round. I was thinking of getting GTA4 for I couldnt find it and couldnt be bothered asking any one. What I did buy though was Bioshock and Mass Effect. They were on offer of buy one get one free, so it cost me £28 for the two. I always wanted to play these two games but when they were released I never had the money and by the time I did have money something new was out.
In the range of BOGOF games was Lost Odyssey. Seeing as my 4th disc is goosed I was tempted to buy it with either Bioshock or ME. I couldnt decide which one and had been probably standing there without doing or saying anything for a good few minutes so I just picked the two I bought.
Once my beer is chilled and the footy is over I think I'll have a good bash on ME.
There were quite a few games there for all 3 next gen systems and a few PS2 games so if anyone lives close to a Blockbuster Id advise you to have a look.
I had four modules, which were Business Organisations, Object Orientated Programming, Web Development and Computer Systems Architecture. My results were:
Business Organisation - 65% overall (B)
Object Orientated Programming - 60% overall (B)
Web - 54% (C)
Computer Systems Architecture - 69% (B)
In terms of 2:1, 2:2 and all that jazz I dont know what that would be equal to.
I would have been happy with my results if it werent for the 54% I got for Web. All of course work one was individual work which I got 60 - 70% for, then coursework two which was group work we got 45% for the report and 40% for the presentation. The group I worked with worked very hard for this coursework and presentation and done everything we were asked. We have asked our tutor why we were makred so low but he hasnt got back to us with a proper answer yet. Our marks from our first year dont count towards the second or third year so Im not really bothered. If it was my second year I would have asked for a reason why and tried to appeal the mark, or something.
In my second year I was going to go further into Web Development but after my results Ive sort of been put off. I am going in one day this week to change my modules to a mixture of Programming and System Architecture. I was most comfortable in CSA so Im going to focus on that module. The money isnt too bad either if I manage to get a job in networking or something similar. We do some work with Linux and Unix which has always interested me as well.
Thats it from me for now. I wrote this out of absolute boredom and already cant wait to go back to Uni in September.
Im sitting here in pain with a torn rotator cuff in my right arm. The rotator cuff is a group of muscles in your shoulder which help you life your arm, and what-not. I first tore it a couple of years ago playing badminton and it has never healed properly. When it happened the first time I went to A&E and was given a hydro cortisone injection through the back of my shoulder in to my arm. The pain never subsided 100% and hurt a lot more during the cold months. I was told if the pain persisted there would be a possibility I would need surgery, which I really do not want. I have had to miss a few shifts at work which has put my financial status in the ****. Even though it is very sore and I can barely lift my arm, it does not feel like I have tore it again. Hopefully I have just pulled it somehow.
I have happily been playing through Lost Odyssey the last few weeks, until the other day. I reached the end of the 3rd disc and was really getting in to the story and was looking forward to the final disc, but when I popped the 4th disc in I was getting disc read errors. The disc itself was clean - no scratches or smudges. I tired over and over but only got as far as a couple of seconds of game play before I got another error. I looked all round my room but cant find a receipt so that is that game finished. I do not know anyone who has the game so I cant lend the 4th disc of them either. I have tried other games, which all work fine so I know it is not the 360.
Seeing as the weather has been decent I have spent most of the week reading in the garden. I finished reading The Colour of Magic and bought the next book, The Light Fantastic. I have started reading the Hitch-Hikers Guide so will start The Light Fantastic once I have finished. If anyone is a fan of Terry Pratchett then please recommend me a book. Or if you are just a fan of reading then recommend me any book. I like funny books like the Discworld book and Hitch-Hikers guide.
I have done two exams and have one left to go. I have done an exam on VB and Java, and one on Computer Architecture. I thought the Computer Architecture exam went really well and I am confident I have a decent mark. The remaining exam is on web development and HTML, which I should pass.
Thats it for now I think. Feel free to comment.
Oh yeh, Im level 31 now as well. Go me.
As you may have noticed (but probably not) I havent been on the UK board for the past couple of weeks. Nor have I read or commented on any blogs. I will try my best to catch up and get back into things. Did I miss anything interesting?
The reason I havent been around is because I havent had a minute to myself lately. It has been the final weeks of my first year of uni so all my assignments, projects and presentations needed to be finished and spot on. Also, I have been working far too many hours due to staff illnesses. I werent too happy with that, but it cant be helped. Over the weekend alone I done over 24 hours, then coming home in the early hours and doing Uni work then back into work for 10. I was close to going nuts from lack of sleep.
Today was my last presentation for the year. It was for a business module and because I am doing Web I werent too enthusiastic about it. But its out of the way now. No more Business. I need to hand in my Personal Development Plan tomorrow and I really dont know where it is either.
Im still playing through Lost Odyssey, although I havent been able to have a decent go for weeks. I'll probably get some beer in and play it all night now. I have re-found (my mind is completely blank, I cant think of the right word) my love for reading and have bought a number of books. The first was The Curios Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon. It was a good read and quite funny in parts. I have bought his second book A spot of Bother, but havent started it yet. Im almost finished reading Terry Pratchett's A colour of Magic. I had the Discworld game for the PC years ago and Rincewind and Death make me laugh so much. Its an excellent book, Id recommended it to anyone. I also bought The Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy, as reccommended by a friend.
I was out last night for the Liverpool game. I havent been out for a while and made the most of it. I spent about £70 and was absolutely rat arsed. Im gutted Liverpool lost, but Im still proud to be a Liverpool fan. I probably want Chelsea to go on and win it now, and the League. Better them than United ![]()
I only had 4 hours kip last night so I think I'll have a nap now. I cant think of anything else right now, so I shall leave it at that.
1. When on holiday a few years ago, in the Costa Del Sol, I met the legend that is Pat Sharpe!
2. Im a massive Liverpool fan and used to attend every home game before I started working in a pub, and have the badge (my avatar) tattooed on my right arm.
3. I have met a lot of ex football players, including John Barnes, John Aldridge, Nobby Styles (66 World Cup winner) and John Charles (a few weeks before he died). I met all of these people in work.
4. This one isnt something I am proud of, but it was part of my job. When I was working in Ashworth Hospital I had to ask Ian Brady (Moors Murderer) to sign a form allowing us to search his room. He was a scary fella.
5. My favourite band at the moment is Metallica, but the first CD I ever bought was PJ & Duncan. Watch us wreck the mike. Psyche!
There is some stuff you might not know (or want to know).
I think I have to tag someone now, so I'll go for INKling, Anabub, Zoe256, and er iliastse.
