With the deaden'd silence of my exiled mind shattered, a torturous word crawled to the darkest cavern of my being; for a dim glow resonated from the eyes of my dead dream, tore a hole in my lacrimal sleep.... But as if I had motioned the skies to part, a piece of heaven did tumble past my hungry eyes, but a single lonely drop fell to the inviting earth bearing unending furrows to carve me open, and a sad drop of pain within such a vast ocean of disease presented a dismal glimmer of searing bliss that passed in a blinking moment, it may have slipped unnoticed but for the piercing cries in my heart. The dismal moments have now passed to flounder in the sea of disease sinking like bowling balls

There's a fire in the valley that's killing many for the few and a funeral for the living.
The dead have gathered around to view.
When heaven burns to ashes their dreams will come crashing too.
While some are more forgiving I'll spend my life hunting you.
Murdering bastards, you furking killed her when you burned could you feel her eyes staring back at you?
Kill him, kill him, just furcking do it, when he is dead this will be all over and we can get on with things.
Take this, use it. They deserve it.
But in their deaths realize she will never be coming back to you, only death behind.
Focus all my energy- prepare myself to slaughter swine- decimate the wicked- eliminate their worthless lives.
String 'em up. Drip them motherfurckers dry.
Murdering bastards you furcking killed her when you burned could you feel her eyes staring back at you?
I killed him, I killed him. Just furcking did it. But in a way I feel empty inside and can't get on with things.
I took it, and used it. They deserved it.
As I sit here wracked with disbelief that she will never be coming back to me I'll strike you down six feet in the ground.
A piece of steel led in the crown. This ends here and now.
Somehow I knew you'd be here. You took so long regarding your fears of treason you've got it all wrong.
I feel your rage, it's rising. Our blood is not theirs.
It's all over the cleansing. I'll see you in Hell.
Forgive me for I have acted against my own blood, I never meant for all of it to happen this way.
A man makes his choice, God willing to live with his shame.
I have so much love for you. I knew I'd die today.

    Peter Paul Rubens

Peter Paul Rubens was born in 1577 in Siegen, Westphalia to Calvinist parents. His father Jan Rubens was forced to flee to Cologne in 1568 due to the fact that Belgian ruler Philip was enforcing his Catholic/Spanish views, and those with contrasting religious backgrounds were discriminated against. Jan Rubens encountered similar difficulties in Cologne and thus reverted back to Christianity. Jan was imprisoned for two years charged with adultery, and released on bail. Peter Paul was then born in 1577 Siegen, and the family returned to Cologne. After Jan’s death in 1587 in Cologne the remaining family fled back to their hometown of Antwerp.

Peter Paul studied at a school run by Rombout Verdonck, in which he met lifelong friend Balthasar Morteus. Rubens studied Latin and Greek, developing fluency in the former through the help of Classical scholar sibling Philip. He also achieved a decent written proficiency in Italian.

His contemporaries included Martin de Vos, Frans Francken; fellow landscape painters Paul Brill, Joos de Momper and Jans Bruegel.

Discuss the portrayal of the issue of guilt in Wolfgang Borchert's "Draußen Vor Der Tür" Post-World War II Germany is often seen to be defined by a sense of overriding guilt, to such a broad extent that it extended to every German citizen and became a nationwide mindset. This was aptly conveyed in former Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder's words, "The memory of the National Socialist era, of war, genocide and infamy, has become part of our national identity. It has left us with an abiding moral and political duty" _. It would seem fitting therefore that a topical play written and set in the years immediately following World War II would carry this sense of ambivalent guilt, as is the case in Draußen Vor Der Tür. This play, written and published between late 1946 and 1947, is introduced with a claim that this is "a piece that no theatre will show, that no audience wants to see", an unusual laud that seems more of a promotional baiting mechanism than a cautionary note. We are given the impression that the subject matter may be difficult to consume for an audience trying to distance themselves from the recent past of their nation. Indeed, the list of characters and their description that follows indicates that this play won't be too far removed from the desolation that existed in the status quo of the target audience; they include an insignificant street sweeper, an undertaker, a crippled survivor of the war, another war survivor whose wife has forgotten him, etc. We can derive from this that Draußen Vor Der Tür will play on the post-war guilt that afflicted the audience. The fact that Beckmann, the primary protagonist in this play, is a guilt-ridden soldier will be effective in not only evoking the audience’s empathy, but also in stoking some of that nationwide guilt that they were trying to avoid.

The introductory scenes include a number of surreal dialogues between the protagonist Beckmann and a number of characters that are possibly representative of such things as God, life, death etc. The dialogue between Beckmann and the ‘River Elbe’ persona reveals that Beckmann, upon his return to his homeland, attempted suicide. On the surface, one might conclude that Beckmann is simply remorseful of his involvement with the war. However, it transpires that the involvement of guilt is more passive; the post-war guilt of a society that is trying to distance itself from the past that he so visually represents has rejected him. Scene Three chronicles Beckmann’s dealings with Herr Oberst, a higher-ranking survivor of the war who spends his days in apparent comfort, Characters as metaphors for different mindsets... Beckmann=guilt; frau,commander,family=moving-on mindset.

It could be argued that the contrasting characters of Draussen Vor Der Tur are representative of the contrasting mindsets of postwar German citizens. Beckmann, for example, is a visual reminder of the past to the other characters, his soldier uniform and goggles cause repulsion among the people who are distancing themselves from the national sense of guilt that’s forever following them. Herr Oberst and his jovially dismissive attitude of the war is something

Celtic Frost - Monotheist. Comeback albums are usually crap, or a failed attempt at trying to reproduce past achievements. Not this one though, they took their damn time at it, shunned record company interaction and came out with a storm of a record. Variety being the key here, they keep the trademark simple-yet-effective riffs, cut out the filler in favour of atmosphere. It's a dark tapestry that works best when you're walking nowhere in the rain.

Karl Sanders - Saurian Meditation. Egyptian folk meanderings, great to chill out to. Rich production and multi-multi layering help to bring a three dimensional feel to the complex melodies here.

Cathedral - The Serpent's Gold. A compilation of the dirty doom-stoners finest hours. Sabbath fertilised, laced with weed and mushrooms. Lyric madness, covering everything from medieval circuses to the funeral of a placenta. Who needs to trip out when these guys give the guided tour?

My Dying Bride - Antidiluvian Chronicles. Another doomed compilation, this one covers the bands past 15 years of romantic gloom & depression. The latest album isn't covered, which probably works in their favour as it was pure cheese. Perfect for those nights infront of the open fire sipping a burgundy............Akercocke - Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone. Many bands nowadays are described as having multifaceted influences, but few can claim to have a sound as morphing as Akercocke. Elements of electronica, death metal, black metal and distinctive melodies are blended in a tapestry-form, proggy riffs and fills tie the package together well. There's moments of downright blasting ferocity here (opening sequence of Verdelet for example) that gradually dissipate into moments of stripped-back keyboard melody (Shelter From The Storm is monstrous); all hailing the prolific horned Goat, Shub Niggurath the Great God Pan Lucifer. It's not your typical churchburning stuff though, these guys are in their element in the company of wine women and song. Hail Satan.

Mourning Beloveth - A Murderous Circus Resembling MDB in ways but with a better grip on reality (lyrics focus on social issues), these Irishmen have breathed fresh air into death-doom for almost a decade now. They're very riff oriented and melodies are sparser here than on their first two albums, somewhat remeniscent of Officium Triste and The Prophecy. That's enough name dropping though, the songs are heavy, the growls & clean passages couldn't be much more emotive and lyric gold abounds. Take a look at their lyric sheet.. (click here) Beauty, with little cheese present. Great.

Tiamat - A Deeper Kind Of Slumber. Thought I'd throw in a wildcard... this radiohead-meets-FieldsOfTheNephilim-through-later-Anathema album of electroambient neogoth rock is chock full of beautiful songwriting, puzzling instrumentation and quirky lyrics. Great for hangovers and lovesickness

    Before
attempting to remove stubborn stains from a garment, always circle the
stain in permanent pen, so that when you remove the garment from the
washing machine you can easily locate the area of the stain and check
    that it has gone.

Don't waste money buying expensive binoculars. Simply stand next to the object you wish to view.

Always poo at work. Not only will you save money on toilet paper, but you'll also be getting paid for it.

Weight watchers. Avoid that devilish temptation to nibble at a
chocolate bar in the cupboard or fridge by not buying the f**king thing
in the first place, you fat b*stard.

Recreate the fun of a visit to a public swimming pool in your home by
filling the bath with cold water, adding two bottles of bleach, then
urinating into it, before jumping in.

Anorexics. When your knees become fatter than your legs, start eating cake again.

An empty aluminium cigar tube filled with angry wasps makes an inexpensive vibrator.

Olympic athletes. Disguise the fact that you've taken steroids by running a bit slower.

Smokers. Save on matches and lighters, by simply lighting your next **** from the butt of your last one.

Vegetarians coming to dinner? Simply serve them a nice bit of steak or
veal. Since they're always going on about how tofu, Quorn, meat
substitute etc 'tastes exactly like the real thing', they won't know
    the difference.

Invited by vegetarians for dinner? Point out that since you'd no doubt
be made aware of their special dietary requirements, tell them about
yours, and ask for a nice steak.

High blood pressure sufferers Simply cut yourself and bleed for a while, thus reducing the pressure in your veins.

Heavy smokers. Don't throw away those filters from the end of your
cigarettes. Save them up and within a few years you'll have enough to
    insulate your roof.

Corsa drivers. Attach a lighted sparkler to the roof of your car before
starting a long journey. You drive the things like dodgems anyway, so
it may as well look like one.

A mouse trap placed on top of your alarm clock will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep.

Fool next door into thinking you have more stairs than them by banging your feet twice on each stair

At supermarket checkouts a Toblerone box makes a handy 'Next customer Please' sign for dyslexic shoppers.

Girls. Don't worry about a nice dress for that important first date. All he's interested in is seeing you starkers.

Putting just the right amount of gin in your goldfish bowl makes the
fishes' eyes bulge and cause them to swim in an amusing manner.

Avoid parking tickets by leaving your windscreen wipers turned to 'fast wipe' whenever you leave your car parked illegally.

Housewives. I find the best way to get two bottles of washing-up liquid
for the price of one is by putting one in your shopping trolley and the
    other in your coat pocket.

Don\'t invite drug addicts round for a meal on Boxing Day. They may find the offer of cold turkey embarrassing or offensive.

    6. A Bloodsword And A Colder Sun (Pt. I Of II)

Development came like a sudden death in the family

No one could foresee the coming of...

In the multi layers of paralyzed christened lies

    But which the earth exploded

    And bodies burned to ashes

The leader of the men died first

    And common people changed

    Into beasts of genocide

I penetrated the mind of god

Why are there assents rather than nothing?

    7. A Bloodsword And A Colder Sun (Pt. II Of II)

Enter now my palace of sacrificial guilt

On the axis of the killing fields of Judas

Into the void of juxtapositioned emptiness

My kingdoms are for the few

As in beauty are for the few

I know the future the past has evaporated

Exhibit the beast of pale complexion

The war of a millennia has passed away

Colder is the sun that fades in the distant

    Brighter the bloodsword running red

Inside your mind there is a battleship

    The snugness penetrate your being

As if your whole life is being erased

By intoxication of some stranger's eye

    For i am the way

    Your painful exclusion

    From past morals

    Your future's contractual designer

OK so my exam results are out this Friday and I'm pretty sure I failed so I'm gonna do the most emo thing imaginable... blog it out on the internet :/

Ah sure while I'm at it I might as well post some gothic lyrics.... Next up: black nail varnish, eyeliner and my little sister's jeans

    "Catherine Blake"

So vile men's torment was truly a pleasure
A plain that would change mankind for ever more

Catherine Blake slept fitfully in the
    summer night. In the heat.
She murmured gently and moved smoothly,
this way and that. Oh, the beauty.
    Her luscious eyes, delicate fingers,
    clawed at her sodden bed.
Catherine smiled. Took a fabulous breath
of summer air and tasted death.
    .

    .

    .

    .

    .

    .
Die Erorians' visit had been successful rewarding
With night of female screams of whimpers,
    lustful dreams.
    Night followed rampant night of
    delicate soft gasps.
The ultimate attack on Heaven and it's glories
Seduce them as they slept, oblivious to
    their midnight tryst.
The seed of doom was planted.
    Phantom raped in their dreams.
The sad ones take their own lives.
Slay their men night after night.
    .

    .

    .

    .

    .

Catherine Blake dreamt of a horror.
Of passion too and of terror.
Over her silent breast, shadows swept,
    shades caressed.
    .

    .

    .

    .

    .

    .
Motherhood was destroyed by the seed
    and laid to waste.
A great rift was born. Men and the
    world were torn.
The daggers went in deep, vile and sickening.
Women swept awat all infancy from their wombs.
And still the Lord God remained silent,
no utterance, no movement, no tears.
    .

    .

    .

    .

    The earth became red.
    The cutting machines of man.
Disgust and hatred for the lives of woman.
    The butchery, the savagery,did spill
    unto themselves.
A chorus of agony from Heaven and Rain poured
In a colossus of angels tears.
The creature of all sins. The lord of the
    bleakest abode.
    Did wonder at the silence.
    What did the Almighty know?
All Hell did fill with the screaming souls
    of dead men.

The mighty army of God did stand and wait,
Hoping our lord would unleash them all.
    .

    .

    .

    .

    .

The great fiery pit. Hordes ripped apart.
Chaos ensued, screaming from the dark.
Observing his darkened child, in the miserable
    corners of earth
The great heart of God will heal up the earth.
The Lord watched as his beloved slipped silently
    Back into the darkness below.

Scabs of the past peeling slowly from a dark and distant memory. emptiness. whispering menace glinting beneath the skin. consumption in the vast eternal maw. decaying teeth flickering over the tongue of the faceless. debasement of eternal torment. dark is the light. dark is the light. And everything is black. carried along the eternal corridor. entombed in a sarcophagus of hate. lined with the flayed hide of the weak. draped in the lungs of the aborted.tongues drooling the acidic fear of menace. peeling skin to bones. blackening with cancerous shame. disemboweled by the grotesque and carried forth on hands of wicker. buried in the wailing mud of rejection. the voices of doom carried on the winds of the virus. a thousand voices darken the great unholy destination. where the mighty winged ones sleep. awaiting you. broken and dissected. their teeth filed into the sacred shapes of the damned. held down by faceless darkness. the universe shrinking back through time. a mouth held open to the bottomless pit. the flavour of the death of all that have come before. the air bloated and brittle with fear. solidifying. forever mummified in the molten ruins of the rejected. their gleeful pain a molten wave that consumes. fields of blood and onyx carry your remains to the last chariot of stone drawn by the great caribou. dragged across the valley of the endless void. to a place where no word exists. where you are left atop the final precipice. the vast expanse of hopelessness stretching into the infinite. beckoning with the shattered feathered hands of the damned. - Seldon Hunt
