Say WHAT?
Hey y'all,
I just got home from Kung Fu Panda. (Awesome movie, I strongly advise whoever's reading this to go out and see it) And during the previews, one particularly struck me.
Case in point?
Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Now, don't get me wrong. That's not to say I don't like Star Wars, by any means; on the contrary, I like the original trilogy and the last one was not bad.
What I don't like, however, is the Clone Wars animated series. Some films, comics, etc. lend themselves well to being made into cartoons. This is not such a case.
Before people jump down my throat for this, again, I don't dislike Star Wars. However, when you look at the first two, and then compare them to the original trilogy, it could be argued that they are by far the worst in the series.
Anyway, the Clone Wars cartoon seemed wrong to begin with. Have you looked at the animation style? I dunno bout y'all, but I'm no fan; these characters do not lend themselves well to being turned into cartoons.
And this completely CGI'd one? Whilst I'm sure it'll rack up big bucks at the box office - just as all its predecessors did - it just doesn't seem...gah, it just isn't right.
Agree? Disagree?
Feel free to comment.

HP, Hypocritical Part
By now, many will have heard of the lawsuit going on between JK Rowling and RDR Books. And here's what I've to say on it all.
HYPOCRISY!!!!!
JK Rowling is suing RDR Books over their recent attempt to publish Harry Potter Lexicon, claiming they're "her ideas" and that "no one should write about hers." At the same time, however, something she has acknowledged, but many fail to: Rowling herself has cited many inspirational works to Harry Potter, and some have not been acknowledged.
Primary case in point is The Worst Witch, a novel by Jill Murphy published in 1974. It features Mildred Hubble, a clumsy witch who goes to a school called Miss Cackle's. I've read the book; the descriptions of Hogwarts in Rowling's HP novels are remarkably similar, and chapter 6 of TWW even mentions a character called The Chief Magician, described as "very old, with a white long beard and a purple gown embroidered with moons and stars." The edition I read even includes an illustration, which bears striking similarities to Dumbledore.
AND certain elements of Harry Potter are a lot like Lord of the Rings. Rowling supposedly didn't read the actual trilogy until she was a teen, but the similarities are there, if you want to believe it.
And how does all this tie in to hypocrisy?
Why, Rowling sues a publisher for attempting to publish what she claims are "her" ideas, which may not be entirely hers in themselves!
Anyone got any comments?

Bad Editing, courtesy of Toonzone
Of late, I've been checking out certain sections of Toonzone's hosted sites. Today's example? The X-Men: The Animated Series page. And something needs addressing.
Ever notice that when you read the episode reviews, some of the airdates are horribly inaccurate? One episode, aired in the 93-4 season, is listed as having aired in 1997, while the premiere of the second season is listed as having aired well before it truly did. Hasty editing, methinks, and that suspicion is furthered by the fact that their The Batman guide does not have nearly as many incorrect airdates. Lazy editing for certain shows, methinks...
I've just brought this up in the forums, and while I'm sure it's gonna get me banned (surprisingly, attacking the mods over a user's unjust ban didn't), I just had to put it down, since no show deserves to have so many off dates in its guide and not have anyone bother to mention it.
