My PSP and Me
After 40 hours of work, 20 hours of playing games, andone brush fire later, I'm back for my next post.Excited? Yeah, I figured as much. Today I am focusing on my PSP. When I first bought this machine I thought this would be the end all be all of portable gaming and mulitmedia. I had never been big on handhelds, the original GBA was the only system I had before PSP, but I figured with all its functionality, I would get so much enjoyment out of this wonderful little machine....and just like the rest of the world I was left crying every time I looked at it.
When I first bought the PSP I was stoked, got Wipeout Pure and was flaburgasted at how fun it was. Had some fun putting a song or two and a movie on the insey 32 meg card that came with it, but mostly enjoyed wipeout. I was so stoked listening to the wonderfully hypnotic people at sony talk about all the features that would be coming: Interenet browsing and online game support, camera support, CELL PHONE (omg =0) support, RSS, and some other useless stuff.
I still looked forward to the gaming side of the system, but most of the game genresthat I enjoy weren't coming out, so I decided to venture into genres that I had no right to be in. Darkstalkers I sucked at, Coded Arms was garbage, Socom was nice, but I sucked online, and MLB 06 The Show was really fun, but i had just gotten the 360 and never really played it. In other words, the gaming end of it doesnt interest me anymore thanks to the next gen systems.
I kept on telling myself that Icould find uses for the $250 I plopped down for this piece of hardware. Well do you want to know what I have been using it for for the past 2 years....to listen to the Hotspot o Gamespot....thats right, the RSS feature was and isthe only feature of this system that I actually enjoy and have been using if only for that on weekly new report. Do I use it out of feeling like I NEED to? Yeah kind of. When you spend so much money on something you feel and obligation to use it, no matter how small the use is, you still feel like your getting enjoyment out of it. Granted, I do use it as a music player when I go for a walk or exercise, but thats it.
Im sure some people stand by their PSP's as great gaming/multimedia machines, but all I can say about it is: Nice try Sony, but leave that market alone, the PSP is dead.

Long time listner, first time caller
Hi everybody!
Been a member of Gamespot for a while now, and just been skimming the surface of the site, enjoying the weekly shows, the hijinks of the staff, and the constant flaming of most "fans" of the site on the boards. Its been a great experience and have decided to share my video game times with the world.
Ive been enjoying video games since NES back at the late 80's, grew up on Mario and Link and a BUNCH of third party games thanks to my older half-brother picking up the weirdest titles. Hes also responsible for making me HATE Metal Gear for making me watch him and try and play that wonderful, slow as heck moving piece of poo.I was and still am a Nintendo boy, went to SNES and had only five games for the entire length of the console: Link to the past, Mario World, Mario Kart, Star Fox, and FF II. II was the launching pad into my RPG bliss. I loves me FF and most playable RPGS. Had a Genesis too, Sonic...thats it. Maybe had Sonic II, but I could never get past the friggin water levels in either of them! N64 got me into star wars games thanks to shadows of the empire, and FPS thanks to Goldeneye. Playstation showed up and i played my best game of all time FF VIII (I meen VIII, suck it VII nerds!). Gamecube was a SMASH and PS2 WAS B-A-N-A-N-A-S from FFX, GoW, SW Battlefront, and FF XII (WHAT A GAME!) PS2 deffinatly had a lot to it, i wish i would dig it out to finish FFXI and Cerberus =( BUT WAIT! I have the time =D
Present Day: I am on my Fourth 360 afer sending three systems in. First one lasted three months, second was broke on delivery, third 4 months, so now im waiting for third to come back repaired thanks to microsofts new policy on actually repairing broken systems and not sending a mystery box back.
Present PRESENT day: WII!
I have twilight princess right now but its soaking up all my free time. Ganondorf here I come! Looking forward to trying the first Baseball game for the Wii, I really hope its a good formula!
Good enough intro.....i guess....
