Chaos Theory: Anonymous's actions possible opening of pandoras box of hacking?

Wow I have not written is a llloooonnnggg time so it feels kind of weird writing this. Nevertheless this needs to be said

Yesterday was my 22nd birthday (thank you) and as a present I was given a fifty dollar gift certificate for the Playstation store. Obviously, I was pretty excited, I for one never played infamous and was itching to download it off the network and try it out, that was, until my sister reminded me that the store was down. I was bummed but sure, I can wait. However, as I sit here and read possible reasons why it closed down, I began to get worried and mildly scared on the situation

According to many, the most likely theory of why it closed down is due to an outside attack. This theory is high above others due to Anonymous's attack two weeks ago on Sony due to Sony suing George Hotz for jailbreaking the Playstation 3. From what I read, Anonymous took responsibility for the attack and swore to not stop until Hotz was left alone. About a week or so later from said incident Sony and Hotz came up with a settlement and Anonymous ceased its attack. It is unclear whether or not Anonymous's acts played any part with Sony going with the choice of a settlement. Regardless on your stance on whether or not Sony should or should done what they did to Hotz, you have to see that there werebetter alternatives for Anonymous to handle that said situation. Although what they did was in their perspective "in good intentions" their acts has potentially opened Pandora's box for hackers outside the Anonymous group to cause havoc.

Anonymous has recently announced on their facebook page that it was not them who closed down the Playstation store, and as a man of logic I am inclined to believe them, for now. There has been no evidence given potentially making themthe culprit, nor do I think there will ever be any, unless someone steps forward and say "yes we did it" and even then, the statement it self will still not make much of a case, this is the internet, anyone can say it.

The road to hell is paved in good intentions, this pops into my mind when I think of this situation. We all want to live in a fair and just world, and taking a stand is fine. In fact, I greatly respect those who stand up and say "hey, this isn't right, and here is why." and do something about it. However, in our crusade of seeking justice many of us begin to lose sight on what we are doing, we seek for justicebut in the process justify performing evil acts for the sake of good and just. I fear this is what happened to Anon, what they believe what was happening was wrong, and they called out Sony for it, and I greatly respected them for sticking up for a single individual, but in the process they justified performing a evil act. In there path for justice, they spilt the blood of the innocent, I'm being overly metaphorical here, what I am saying is that they hurt the customers of Playstation in their process of protesting to Sony that what they were doing was wrong.

Given, what they did was minor and was handled, and all was fine. What I am getting at here is that their acts have theoretically given the ok for more potential and more severe acts against Sony. It's a theory, not a solid fact, but it is a theory that has a fair amount of evidence to back it up. To my knowledge there were no attacks against Sony before the Anon's attack.

We have to realize that this can lead down a path of textbook fanboy terrorism. Regardless of your gaming preference: PC, PS3, WII, Xbox, it makes no difference, no one is safe. This can lead to retaliation, all we need is one hacker who has a preference for ps3 to get angry at certain Xbox people who belittle the ps3 players for their brief downtown by potential hackers with their own spite against Sony, declaring superiority, and retaliate against Xbox. And then another attack against ensues due the attack against Xbox. Do you see where I'm getting at here? It is a road we are in danger of getting on, soon the people who just want to sit down and enjoy their games will be caught in the crossfire just because of a minorities fixed opinion and views that turn into hate.

It is highly probable that someone outside of Anon has learned from what they have done and used it for there own objective and/or pleasure. My question is for all of you in the gaming world, no matter what your stand is on this matter; when will this end? How far does this rabbit hole go until EVERYONE finally states, "enough is enough?" and will it happens won't it be too late?

There is a better way to handle what we think is unjust people. There is the path of civility. If we lose our civility, then we are no better than the people we feel are being unjust.

P.S….I SO figured out The Dark Knight now XD.

Midway just did to MK what Lucas did to Indy...they raped it

ok, when i first heard about MK characters taking on DC characters like many of my other friends the first thing that came to my mind was "god i hope i can rip off supermans leg and just beat him with it like MK4" and also like my friends when i heard it was rumored to be rated Teen I wanted to do the same to the idiot who thought about this stupid idea. a few months past by and we finally got a look at what it is. although i am a hardcore fan of the MK series (hell ive been playing it since I was eight) and really wanted this to work it just seemed unapealling to me like to some of u, so i started to give the game a benifeit of a doubt give it a while before i judge it, hell it was in beta mode so its not all the way complete....then thae fatality finishers where starting to be shown. I personaly wasnt blown away at all with the finishers what so ever. I mean i can understand why they didnt go over the top with the finisher like before cause im pretty sure DC wouldnt appreciate see their beloved poster child superman's body being blown up into large gory chunks, but come one..really? i knew right away that i wasnt going to buy this at all so i tried to keep hope up for a rent...then i saw the joker finisher. I have to say that was probably the best one I've seen so far on the game...that on finisher actually gave me hope of renting it, maybe the game won't be so bad.....right?

well they officialy toned that finisher down as well.....so is there any point in buying or renting this game now..i guess if u really want to murder one of the DC caracters download a mugen, put scorpion taking on batman and there u go..THATS AS CLOSE AS UR GONNA GET

    PS3'S XMB is F.A.I.L.

Like any other ps3 fan when I heard that ps3 was releasing an ingame XMB i was extremley excited (mainly for the custom soundtrack) and thought that this would be a major stepping stone to the ps3..sadly like the movie "spiderman 3" it failed...Now don't get me wrong I am appreciative over ps3 making XMB in-game but come'on, really? I think what really got people really dissapointed was the custom soundtrack. When I first turned on my ps3 and installed the firmware today the 1st think that came to my mind was "Uncharted+Hybrid Theory soundtrack=F**kin A!" and Like many other ppl I began to curse at the fact that is didnt work...for any game. Turns out sony decided to ask every single developer if they want custom soundtrack on their games instead of taking it upon themselve to just let us do it (like the 360)..other than that I think it failed was because ppl put too much high hopess into it hoping it was gonna be like the 360 XMB (like myself). Look u can rant all u want trying to defend it but u cant doubt the fact that it was a dissapointment in one way or another..I dunno maybe it'll get better with upcoming updates

UPDATE: Apparently some ppl say that sony was in legal issues with DEV's when it came to the C. soundtrack, dunno if its true or not but we should keep that in mind
