All About Baloth2025
Last year we celebrated the victory of Gordon Freeman as GS's"All Time Greatest Game Hero"
Now, August 5 to September 17 of this years is the starting point for Gamespot's newest Tournament, "All Time Greatest Villain"
Bracketselection has opened for users' estimations of matches and the ending victor of the contest. Brackets will close the same day voting begins on August 26, so users who have yet to submit their choices should take haste(or continue to happily ignore it) less miss their chance.
Some very widely known villains have been chosen in the competition, such as Darth Vader(Star Wars), General RAAM(Gears of War), Arthas(Warcraft 3 and the Lich King in WoW: WotLK), The Joker(Batman), and even the Pac-man Ghosts make an appearance. A total of 64 contestants have a chance(some more than others...) to make it all the way to gaining the title of All Time Greatest Villain- Who will ultimately make it? Well, we'll need your assistance to make that decision.
Best of luck to all competitors. May the coldest hearted bastard win!
Gamespots recent contest "All Time Greatest Game Hero", which started Sept. 1st, came to an end on Oct. 15th, concluding that Dr. Gordon Freeman from Valve's Half-Life and Half-Life 2 is the greatest video game hero in currant video gaming history.
A very close 2nd place at 44.2% was held by the well known Mario from countless Nintendo games.
Aside from Mario, Gordon's oponents ranged from Snake in the Metal Gear Solid serise(a VERY close match with 50% for each), to Link from Nintendo's Zelda(beaten by 59%).
In celibration of the victory, Valve has reduced ALL Half-Life games by 55.8%(the total % of votes for Gordon) for the weekend(Oct. 17th through the 18th). So if you were on the fence as to weather or not you wanted to try a Half-Life game(which you should), now would be the perfect time to see for yourself why Gordon Freeman was voted All Time Greatest Game Hero.

Yep, today is Half-Life's Birthday. A great game developed by a great company(Valve).
Made in 1998, Half-Life was the beginning of a new trend for games. Named Game of the Year by over 50 publications, it was hard to ignore. After a few Death Match expansions which where also great hits and several years, the game eventually led to Half-Life 2 in 2004.
HL2's ground breaking Physics Engine and engulfing story-line also set a new standard and great roll model for future games, by Valve and other developers. Half-Life 2 earned over 35 Game of the Year awards and has released two other episodes to the saga. Episode 3 is still in development.
So in honor of this day, Valve has reduced the price of Half-Life by 90%(until Friday November 21) through their World Wide distributing system STEAM.
Be sure to give your thanks to Valve, without their hard work, today's video games may just not be the same.
