All About Bakahashi

    Well Well Well...

What do we have here then? Oh It's just Bakahashi, back from his three-day-ban that was unfairly blessed upon him for expressing his mind! That's right folks, welcome the the internet. A place that you first think of when someone mentions freedom of speech.

Unfortunately, as my last blog went against GameSpot's marketing interests, I was sadly silenced. Well, no worries GameSpot, I've learned my lesson, don't you worry.

Ugh, people. Anyway, back on to the subject of video games. I got myself a couple new games lately, The Bourne Conspiracy and Soul Calibur 4, both of which I am enjoying very much. The Bourne Conspiracy is a nice violent beat-em-up with guns, and Soul Calibur is a not so violent beat-em-up with swords, YAY! I give both games an 8.5.

Moving on, and we gotta be quick here, my dinner is nearly finished. I've had that **** cooking in the oven for a good hour now, and I'm mighty hungry!

The Olympics! Meh, I didn't watch them, but that was some opening cermony huh!?

I'm sick of these stupid letters my bank keeps sending me asking me if I want to borrow money. No, I do not want to borrow money, leave me alone. I despise you people.

George Carlin is god. (Figuratively speaking) Have you seen his work? It is quite amusing, let me tell you.

Moving to Taiwan in 2009/10 seems a go for now, but I need to look for another job as my current one is about to end.

Well, that's all I can think of now. I need food.

    P.S: Read books.
P.P.S: Spell Checking, after you submit the blog, is very annoying.

    Lovely Complex - Review

I'm by no means a movie critic, but I think I know a good film when I see one. And in this case, that film was "Lovely Complex". Now, at first glance, the film comes across as a typical romantic comedy, but It's how the romance, and the comedy, is delivered that makes the film so great.

I usually don't laugh at Japanese comedy, because I find it a little blatant and thoughtless. In the United Kingdom, our comedy is usually either sarcasm or story telling, in Japanese comedy to my experience It's usually slapstick or playing on ideas that wouldn't happen in real life. But this film made me laugh a lot. It's just so brilliant, the way the main characters behave, the random narration by some old man in a directors chair, the random "wig" intervals... Oh I could go on I really could. It's these things that make the film so funny and unique.

Another thing that grabbed my eye was how uniquely colourful it is. The characters in the movie are all dressed in what seems like absurdly colourful and warm colours. The film actually starts off in a sepia tone, showing how the two main characters of the movie are heartbroken when they confess their feelings to the person they love, only to be rejected because of their height. After this scene, it proceeds to an ultra colourful and warm colour tone, which then plays throughout the entire movie.

The "height" aspect of the two characters is also the premise of the film. The two mismatched youngsters find common ground in their respective height anxieties, and an attraction soon blossoms between them. Though their sizes are seemingly incompatible, the two kids find happiness together, especially in their obsession for the same peculiar interests - that is, until Atsushi's ex-girlfriend re-enters the picture!

Another thing I noticed, although most people might miss it, is that the entire film is in the regional Kansai dialect, which is quite nice.

I really recomend anybody check this film out. The unique art **** the hilarious random romantic comedy, it will have you laughing and crying, although you'll most likely be laughing for most of the movie.

    My verdict: A+ @ 9.5/10
This film is going to stick in my mind for quite some time to come. - Bakahashi

P.S: Nami Tamaki did a great performance.

    Tales of Japan #1

This is going to be the first in a series of tales from Japan. Since I've only been to Japan once these stories are going to be few and far apart, but they should at least kill some of your time lol.

    The Sunstroke Man

Towards the end of my stay in Japan, me and my girlfriend at the time were walking around random parts of Tokyo. It was a really hot day, so hot that every single person you walked past had huge amounts of sweat dripping from their face. As we approached a kind of harbour, I felt tired, so I asked my girlfriend if we could sit down for a while and drink some fluids.

As I was sitting there drinking my Pocari Sweat a man who was clearly sunstroke came over to me. He had a huge towel on his head, (Japanese people use mini towels to wipe off their sweat, so this was quite amusing to see) he asked me to hand out my hand, but I didn't understand. He gestured towards my hand, so I put my hand out. To my surprise he handed me a 1000 Yen note. That's about 10 bucks or 5 Pounds. It was folded neatly, almost like Origami. I asked him in my broken Japanese "why?" but he gave a very slurred response. My girlfriend asked him why he was handing me the money. My girlfriend said "he said he's giving it to you because you're a foreigner".

So wow. I got 10 bucks for being a foreigner in Japan, how awesome is that?
