Farewell, Gamespot
For a while now I've known that my priorities have been like scattered bits in the wind being blown around without any sense of proper order. In any life, priorities are vastly important, so you know that this routine I've allowed myself to succumb to is not healthy if I want to succeed according to my own aspirations. Therefore, if you haven't yet surmised this yourself, this wind is my uninhibited curiousity with Gamespot and mild interests that are associated with it.
Before I go on, I have more to say to clarify my feelings about my experiences here at Gamespot. I've learned much since I first became a member of the community. I've met many good, intelligent people here, and even befriended a few, who I've had many interesting discussions with. The main reason I've stayed here at Gamespot is because it gave me access to people to interact with that I had no willingness to do elsewhere. Some here might not know that, without the Internet, I don't normally converse with anyone that I know in real life about anything I consider substantive or engaging, which is the fault of the people more than my unwillingness to search out individuals who want to have similar conversations.
I've finally come to the conclusion that I really don't often contribute to the Gamespot community. It only take moments for me to realize that it's simply a part of my personality: I'm not someone who wants to give my opinion about just anything at every time. I want my contributions to be original and considerate to the topics I submit them to. After numerous attempts at starting discussions about my interests, philosophy, theology, and writing, I've discovered that, despite there being people around that want to discuss these topics at length, they're usually too busy or are unavailable to comment much anyhow.
Gamespot, then, has become a hindrance to what I should be doing in the first place. I'd spend much more time than necessary scanning the forums, which is just another of the many forms of time-wasting. I'd go on Gamespot and other websites, I suppose, to avoid doing what I should. No matter the interest that I may find on these sites, it has become too tempting for me to web surf than commit to my priorities. So, obviously, the purpose of this blog post is to officially force myself to limit the time I come here to a bare minimum. This means that I intend to stop posting in forums and my blog, and only come here on ocassion for video game information, and perhaps even read a blog or two now and then.
All of this brings along many fine memories--even of ones I wish never happened. I enjoyed discussing topics of interests with other people; I don't often get the chance to do likewise anywhere else but the Internet. The memories, be they good or not, still taught me much that I don't regret learning from. This makes my "departure" all the more difficult, but it must be done nonetheless. I'm grateful to everyone that has spent so much of their time to respond to my posts. I'm probably going to be here until the end of the week to respond to anyone that might post a comment.
Farewell, Gamespot. Don't hold me back any longer from what I need to do.
