It seems I have a new video up. This is really just convenient timing.

Anyway, it's a Firefly video and the song has a few naughty words so be aware of that. The song is an old rap song that's been turned on its ear. I love when they do that.

I meant to check back here once in a while, but I went on a trip and I cleared out all my saved passwords. Then I got home and couldn't find the password to get back in here. No, really. That's what happened.
Then the new TV season started and I got pissed off all over again at CBS that they screwed up this site. It also reminded me that there were people here I missed talking with that I don't see anywhere else so I searched a little harder amd found my password.
So what's new?

There are a few people here I wouldn't be able to keep in touch with elsewhere so maybe I'll pop in once in a while.
Don't get me wrong. This place still sucks.

Yeah. I think I am finally done with this site. I haven't felt like posting or blogging anything lately and the place feels like it's in its death throes. I still have to wonder if this is what TV.com really wants, to get rid of the community.
I'm tired of the constant changes.
I'm tired of no one listening to us.
I'm tired of the condescending replies when we have the gall to complain.
I've finally accepted that this place will never go back to what it was and I doin't want any part of what it is becoming.
If you're interested in keeping in touch on Facebook, PM me. I'll still be lurking for a few days. If not, it's been nice knowing you all. Have fantastic lives.

As for the site itself, I think a line from the Simpsons sums up my feelings the best.
Oh gosh. You know, I'm not much on speeches, but it's so gratifying to... leave you wallowing in the mess you've made. You're screwed, thank you, bye.

24Mar 09I have a new Watchmen trailer mashup video. Why am I pessimistic? I have no idea if anyone else likes the move I used instead of Watchmen.

And I thought I should share. Or at least vent.

It started at 5 AM as I was driving to work. Guy in a van started tailgating me. He had room to pass, but he apparently thought tailgating was more fun. Then the road narrowed to one lane and he was stuck behind me. And what does Auntie do when someone tailgates her? That's right! She does the speed limit exactly. In this case it was 30 mph. Muahahahahaha.
When it finally opened up to 2 lanes the loser in the van finally passed. And what was on the back of the van? One of those "how am I driving" signs with a truck ID# and an easy to remember website. Again with the mauahahahaha.
Then at work this clone of Tish's stupid cow head gave me her work. (Wow is that a strange sentence for the uninitiated.
) I had to do it because she had other work to do. Or so she said. Never trust the stupid cow heads of the world.I was also supposed to have a conference call training session for life safety (fire drills.) I yell "get out of my way the building's on fire"...er, I mean I monitor the stairwells in the case of an emergency. Anyway, the call wouldn't work right and I wasted time trying to get that fixed when it really was unfixable.
Then I went to put money on my parking card for the train lot. The machine took my $20 and then just sat there. I hit cancel and got a receipt for a refund. I went into the station and they said I had to find a white truck outside. Apparently only the city could refund my money. Think I found any white trucks?
Then I stopped for gas. That went fine at first. No explosions or anything. When I was leaving though a stupid bitca soccer mom cow head cut me off. She pulled up to another pump like she didn't even see me. She boxed me in so I had to back out. She kept ignoring me even though she obviously saw me. I pulled up next to her and yelled "thanks so much for letting me pull out!" Bitca said, "You're welcome."
I don't remember what happened after that. Next thing I know the cops are showing up...

Figures the blog I put little thought or effort into gets twice as many comments as the one I spent time on.

I have a new commercial spoof up on YouTube. It took for freaking ever to make, but on the plus side it's really short.
It's Buffy themed, but the commercial is a classic so you non Buffy fans may still enjoy it. Did I mention it took for freaking ever to make?

Each time we get a little snow here the East Coast gets pummelled. Well we're expecting eight inches tomorrow, so just a little warning for Greta.

(Did everyone notice I ignored the potential for a naughty joke there? Shows how much I've grown.
)Huh. I thought I had more to say than that, but I guess I was wrong.

Hell is 33 degrees.
That line from the comic strip Foxtrot always pops into my head on cold rainy days. The wind is just howling right now. I tried using my umbrella and damn near turned into Mary Poppins.
That being said, Forbes can kiss my shiny metal ass. They did a list of what they consider the most miserable cities in the US and Chicago ranked #3 (#6 on their website for some reason.) They cited the weather, which is valid, but I'll take a winter in Chicago over a summer in Miami any day of the week.
They also claim we're miserable because the Cubs are such losers. They must think everyone in Chicago is a Cubs fan. Some of us like it when the Cubs lose.
They also said our commute to work is really bad. That's just for the dumbasses who drive to work. We have this newfangled contraption called a train that I use to get to work. Can you imagine? It's not perfect, but it's fairly fast, it's cool in the summer, warm and toasty in the winter and I can read all the way in.
So, yeah. I've got a suggestion for the writers from Forbes. It goes double for the horse they rode in on.

I have nothing to blog about, but I really felt like blogging so I'm borrowing an idea from MovieMark. I let my mp3 player play at random and I wrote down the first 20 songs and a little something about them.
It's even clickable! Enjoy.
1. Nessun Dorma - Aretha Franklin
She stepped in after Pavarotti cancelled. She had half an hour's notice and had to sing it 5 keys below her norm. I love it.
2. April Fools - Rufus Wainwright
He was bound to come up. I could listen to him sing the dictionary.
3. Girl Anachronism - The Dresden Dolls
If for no other reason I appreciate the people I've met online for all the good music I've been introduced to. I think it was grailwolf who posted about the Dresden Dolls at some point.
4. It's a Mistake - Men at Work
They were popular when I was in Jr High. What can I say?
5. Same Old Song and Dance - Tim Easton
I found a lot of good music on Napster that I otherwise might not have. Tim Easton is one of them. Check him out if you get a chance.
6. Rachel Rocket - The General's Daughter Soundtrack
I really, really liked the music from this movie. The movie isn't half bad either.
7. I'll Be Seeing You - Etta James (I couldn't find this one, but here's a different fun clip.
Another one that was bound to come up. I first heard her when I saw Sister Act. Whoopi plays Roll With it Henry on the jukebox. I've been hooked ever since. I have a lot of standards that she has covered. She sings them almost impossibly slow.
8. Long Tall Glasses - Leo Sayer
Child of the 70s. Sue me.
9. Good Morning - Singing in the Rain
My very favorite musical. Not that I'm a fan of musicals, but still.
10. Terrible Lie - Nine Inch Nails
I discovered NIN verrrrry late in life. Like three years ago.
11. All Over the World - ELO
Proof that radio stations are NOT playing everything. I heard this a few weeks ago online and realized I hadn't heard it in about 20 years.
12. Le Disko - Shiny Toy Guns
I dunno. I just like it.
13. Where are You Baby? Betty Boo
I have to thank the irrepressible ITL for this little gem. I'd never heard it before and he posted a link to the video. It's like a carnivorous earwig that gets in your brain...
14. Short Skirt/Long Jacket - Cake
I do love me some Cake.
15. A clip of Cartman rapping about Wild Wild West
I have a bunch of random clips from South Park, The Simpsons, etc on my mp3 player. Me and Artemis Clive Frog gonna save Selma Hayek from the big metal spiders!
16. Mack the Knife - Bobby Darin
My mom's very favorite singer. I guess it rubbed off.
17. No One Needs to Know - Shania Twain
I don't love much country, but I do like Shania. She actually can sing. The funny thing about the video for this song is it's just clips from the movie Twister. They don't go with the tone of the song at all.
18. Can't Let Go - Lucinda Williams
I was surprised Bonnie Rait didn't pop up for my 20. You'd swear it was Bonnie at times singing this song.
19. Jive Talkin' - Bee Gees
See #8 above and shut up.
20.Mr. Heatmiser - Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
The simple song from The Year Without a Santa Claus only a lot bigger. Bandier too.
Oh and how about that game Sunday? I can't believe the ref didn't call that Beagle for being offsides. The Puppy Bowl is rigged.

Lonely? Hungry? Looking for totally random comments about anything and everything? Then come on down to our off topic thread on the Angel forum, Lorne's at the Washington Mall!
It's brand new so no drink stains on the carpet yet. Stop by and be the first! (Disclaimer: THE First is not welcome. We reserve the right, yadda, yadda, yadda.)
No knowledge or even any interest in anything Whedon related is necessary. It's the off topic thread after all. A lot of the people you know and love from your blog comments hang out there so it has to be cool!
Lurk a bit first if you like. Hang out. Listen to a virtual karaoke number. No big whoop.
Hope to see you there.

By that I mean I won't be complaining about the weather or this site...this time.

I also have something different up on YouTube. On the Angel forum we have a thread where we make ads using lines or scenes from Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Dr. Horrible and soon to be from Dollhouse. I took one of these and tried to make it into a normal commercial.
Hope you like.

And yes. I mean the "Oh God, oh God we're all going to die" variety of interesting.

Tonight we're getting 2-4" of snow. I know a lot of you are thinking BFD and normally I'd agree. The snow is being joined by 30 mph winds so...
Then the temp. is going to drop to -5 overnight. Tomorrow is going to be fun.
Someone posted a link to an article about all the lovely changes to TV.com. Check it out here. Am I the only one who thinks someone in the CBS PR department wrote it?
Maybe I'm just being snarky because YouTube is depressing the hell out of me. A lot of videos are being muted over song copyright issues. I can't imagine how YouTube is going to be worth anything when they finally block everything that they want to block. Makes me want to short Google stock.
OK. Enough bitca-ing from me. For your patience I have a Top 10 list for ya.

Top 10 Signs You're Too Paranoid
10. You're at a football game and you think the guys in the huddle are talking about you.
9. You hear "Ho, ho ho" from a mall Santa and you think he's questioning your purity.
8. You get a little heartburn and you're sure an alien is going to come bursting out of your chest.
7. You're afraid your hairdresser is keeping some of your hair so she can make polyjuice potion.
6. You probably think this list is about you.
5. You get an email offer about improving your sex life and you reply, "Why? What have you heard?"
4. You leave treats out to appease the monsters under your bed.
3. You won't eat at Burger King because you think The King will steal your soul. No, wait. That's actually a valid fear.
2. You think the voices in your head are actively plotting against you. OK. Maybe only two of the voices. The third is just going along with the crowd.
1. Spring has arrived. There are bunnies EVERYWHERE and you won't go outside without a holy hand grenade- Posted Jan 12, 2009 4:03 pm PT

I just saw Kung Fu Panda. I liked it a lot. Even if there was no other reason, it was simply a visually gorgeous movie. The prison escape was just too cool. I'm not a huge fan of Jack Black, but I thought he did a nice job. They also did a good job giving the panda some of his mannerisms. And for a kid's movie I thought the messages were more subtle than usual. They weren't pounded into you over and over again. I didn't know who else did the voices going into the movie. It was driving me crazy figuring out who was doing the voice of the Bad Kitty.

On another front, go Eagles! Not that I care about the Eagles, but they are playing Minnesota. I've got schadenfreude aplenty for the Vikings. The only time I didn't like the Eagles was during the Buddy Ryan years. He could be a snivelling little bitca. I don't hold grudges though. For very long at least.

It seems like it has gotten even quieter around here if possible. I love that they did the new redesign right before they went on vacation. Gotta love the planning there.
I went to a party New Year's Eve and was up for 24 hours straight. Needless to say I didn't get much done Thursday. Cartoon Network was running Bugs Bunny all day so I watched a lot of that. It made me realize how rarely they show those anymore. I also saw Fail Safe for the first time. Pretty good even though it's dated. I can't imagine seeing that when it first came out.
I got some of the Buffy comics for Christmas. I'm enjoying the hell out of those. Although I don't think they really got Faith's voice quite right. Something seems off a bit.
Ummmmm...what else...what else...
I guess th th th th that's all folks!

20Dec 08This has all been said a million times over, but I feel the need to vent about the site changes.
On Hoeech's latest blog danbambridge left this comment.
"For some reason the regular staff members had very little involvement so they shouldn't bear the brunt of the community's anger, that should be saved for CBS."
I'd agree with that if we were all just attacking the staff for no good reason. They are not innocent victims here though. They are pushing hard for us to just lie back and accept the changes. They are willing apologists for the changes and have become very patronizing in their tone lately. The changes aren't the problem. We're just too simple to recognize how good the changes really are.
They only seem to care how the storefront looks. In the meantime there's a fire raging in the stockroom that's being ignored.
The logic here just confounds me. They say that they are listening, but they have ignored almost 3 months of feedback. Instead of listening to our complaints they wasted valuable time redesigning the TV.com logo.
Oh, look. Now the drapes are on fire...- Posted Dec 20, 2008 6:47 am PT

13Dec 08At least when Al was in charge people respected Illinois. Sure there was corruption, but there was respect, dammit!
You know why I never trusted Blagojevich? He wasn't faithful to any particular team. If he was on the North Side he wore a Cubs hat. On the South Side he wore a Sox hat. He got anywhere near St. Louis and the slimy little bugger even wore a Cardinals hat.
What on Earth was he thinking anyway? He's already under investigation and he tries to sell Obama's vacant senate seat? I'm ashamed that he's from Illinois. Obama's going to have to be a super duper good president to restore our cred with the other states.
In other news I have another cold. I don't get sick very often and this is the third cold I've had this season. I really need a haircut, but I was afraid to go with a cold. I'd cough at the wrong time and lose part of my ear.
I also saw two movies on DVD this week that almost everyone loved. I couldn't stand the dialog in Juno. Seemed unnatural somehow coming out of teenagers. It all seemed really fake. Then there's No Country for Old Men. It was a Terminator sequel if John Connor was a big sack of money.
Yeah. I've still got it.- Posted Dec 13, 2008 3:18 pm PT

2Dec 08My Wallace and Gromit video is getting hits up the wazoo and Hoeech is the wonderful studmuffin responsible. He pimped it out all over the place and IMDB posted a link on their home page.
A lot of the people who have been commenting seem to think it would have been better without the actual clips from the movie, but, well, they're WRONG!
Honestly, there were no good Wallace and Gromit clips to take their place. If they don't like it they can go make their own videos.

26Nov 08Tj left a comment in my blog where I reviewed the latest Bond movie. He suggested a certain crossover trailer which simply had me giggling with anticipation. It took me longer than I thought, but I had a blast making it. If you don't like it keep it to yourself.

Check it out here.
Thanks again for the idea, Tj.

18Nov 08In the form of new video that is. Actually it's an old video I was never that happy with so I tinkered with it some. YouTube doesn't want to upload the song correctly though. It's almost like it's dropping a track. Sucks just a little bit when you edit on the beat and the beat gets muffled.
In other news I bought a microwave pasta cooker from Amazon. It works GREAT! It's called the Fasta Pasta and you can check it out here. It's just a plastic container, but it cooks angel hair pasta perfectly. I always hated the aggravation of cooking pasta on the stove so now I don't have to.
I also saw Quantum of Solace last night. Kinda dull if you ask me. The plot was very thin and the villain was very weak. Yes, I know I have a reputation for hating most movies, but a paranoid can still have enemies. I can hate a movie and it can actually be a bunch of meh.
First Bond theme song in a long while that I liked though.- Posted Nov 18, 2008 5:50 pm PT
