Are developers becoming too reliant on Multiplayer?

Sure, we all love our Multiplayer games. Gears Of War, Call Of Duty, Halo, Battlefield and Rainbow Six to name a few.Weknow that they are all amazing games and the Multiplayeris what everybody seems tolove these days, as it is true!

ButI am suremost users on this website remember when games were abouthaving an amazing story, great gameplay (as games still do, of course) andwhen it would take you weeks to finish games. We all know thatsaid Call Of Duties andBattlefields are amazing to playonline and you getmany, many hours of fun out of it after you have finished the Campaign, but there must be times when you just miss havingdifficultykilling that last boss, listening to the story and knowing thatyour game will take you weeks to complete.Yes, video games still haveamazingSingle Player Campaigns, for example Gears Of War, Call Of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, Condemned and Resident Evil to point out theobvious.

Who would likefor a game tobefocused on the Single PlayerCampaign for a change (and Co-op Campaign, just so long as it doesn'tactually change the game into a more Multiplayer experience), where it takes about 15-20 hours to complete the game, many challenging bosses that are very interesting, confusing moments where you get stuck not knowing where to go from a certain point... classicTomb Raider and Resident Evil games anyone?

I still have yet to see a game from the current-gen to do this besides Metal Gear Solid 4, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Resident Evil 5 for example. Anybody else feel like this?

To continue on with the "finally" phase, I have finally completed Tomb

I didn't actually notice my last 2 blog posts had the word "finally" in it until after I thought up a title to this blog.

But basically, almost 12 years after I first played it, I have finally completed Tomb Raider 2!

If you want to read about it, read my second post in this thread!
