16Jan 07It's back! And the work begins, and of course I'll post my reviews here for those who want to comment....
[ ret·ri·bu·tion: punishment imposed for purposes of repayment or revenge for the wrong committed ]
A fitting title in many ways…most poignant in my eyes though being that
retribution usually doesn’t put things back to normal—as the ending
scene showed so well.
Jordan will never again get to talk to JD. She lost the chance to share
any thoughts, wants, apologies she had for JD. Ted Hawthorne took that
away from her and no amount of justice (or retribution) will ever bring
JD back. All Jordan will ever be able to do is ponder the ‘what would
haves’. I loved the ending scene because I felt it summed up Jordan and
JD’s relationship and gave as best a closure to JD’s death as the
circumstances allowed. Those pictures represented their relationship:
friends, lovers, and the possibility that there could have been more.
All that’s left are some pictures of good times and memories of the
hard times.
Kate Switzer—what a name and what a personality. Mettalica in
autopsy—how can that not grab your attention? While the rough, no
nonsense, not here to make friends attitude reminds me of Elaine
(another character I loved…why is it that all the characters I really
love die? Sorry, back on topic.) Dr. Switzer stood out as her own
character to me—not a carbon copy of someone we’ve already seen. She’s
got quirks. She’s smart. She’s not afraid to stand up to anyone, and
she knows how to play the game. Corrupting Nigel’s work after she
figures out he was watching her…that’s playing the game.
I liked Lu last season until she had a character assassination (sorry
writers, but I really think you screwed her character up last season).
Some of my faith in Lu was redeemed in this episode. I hope she keeps
this attitude and spunk. She was fun to watch last night and I started
believing in her again.
Okay, so the one part of this episode that just didn’t work for me: THE
CASE. I re-watched this episode paying attention to ONLY the case, and
there’s too much trying to happen in 42 minutes. Here’s why it doesn’t
work for me.
1- JD comes to Boston, to collect evidence against the judge—who’s a
weak, pathetic character…but I won’t go ranting on that, cause I might
be here all day if I did. I do have to say the judge’s suicide was
purely for effect in my opinion. Too many contradictions in the judge,
easy to bribe, but weak in character. Feels guilty when confronted to
the point he then decides to commit suicide? This just doesn’t jive. A
corrupt person doesn’t have a conscious—not like the weak judge was
given…just all wrong…okay, moving on, I swear.
2- This evidence proves that the judge is corrupt. JD’s flash drive had
four cases on it. The fifth case—was just another bribe the judge took.
How does JD connect the bribe to the coal mine worker to Ted Hawthorne?
JD’s story was the judge, the leap to him being connected to Hawthorne
is just too much to process. Even now as I try to think it through and
wrap my brain around it there are too many, what ifs and hows. A case
shouldn’t be that complex that the viewer can’t follow it after one
viewing much less two or three viewings.
3- How the hell does Hawthorne find JD? JD’s a reporter and has to be
semi decent at covering his tracks? And Hawthorne a cold-blooded
killer? Did you get that impression when Jordan confronted him? No? I
didn’t think so. He gave you the impression that he’d hire a hit man or
something right? It was just a bit too unbelievable.- Posted Jan 16, 2007 11:54 am PT

16Oct 06Well as far a season finales go--this one was pretty good. Whenever you're left with more questions than answers and a feeling of dread...well that usually means you'll come back for more.
First I have to rant about Peter. Sorry, I'm not a fan of him. I LOVED Dylan, and I still want him back. Peter acted like a jerk the first go around and his lousy excuse didn't cut it for me. I just don't want them together. There's not that easy chemistry between them that Angela and Dylan had. I wish Angela could find out how rotten Gene is.
Though the jail scene was fun...I don't think Angela completely trust him anymore. She is starting to believe her parents--or at least have doubts in everyone else that tells her they're guilty.
I knew it was the grandfather talking with Gene in the end. The drink gave it away. Man when Angela learns the truth behind everything her faith in people is going to be completely shattered. Now we find that her Grandfather is behind/involved somehow in this whole mess...
I tend to agree with Jerry's last words: "We're Screwed."
They are definitely fighting an enemy that way outweighs them. Sometimes, the smaller and quicker beats the bigger and stronger though. It's definitely an uphill battle for them. And it looks like all the cards fell into the enemy's lap, but I guarantee Angela and Jerry are still in the game.
14 weeks (we had one week that was a rerun) flew by quite fast. Now we have to wait another year for some answers. Overall it was an interesting series and I do hope it returns next summer. Can't wait to see where they go with it.- Posted Oct 16, 2006 8:02 am PT

11Oct 06I can't believe next week will wrap up the season. 13 episodes seems so short, but we've had 14 weeks (one week was a rerun) -- that's 3 and a half months -- of episodes.
They've definitely set up a compelling story with Angela and her family. I'm excited for next week, but let's get back to this weeks episode.
This was probably the one case that held my attention this season. I found the story to be interesting...enough to keep me wondering. I won't think too hard on it, cause I'd be able to pick too many holes in it.
Dozer and is Dana references were cut. I'm happy for him. I hope they keep her around/in the story for him.
Now on to the baffeling part. I figured the 'girlfriend' wasn't real. What didn't even cross my mind was that it would be the 'High Power Guy' (sorry can't remember his name--I'm awful with names). I should have guessed seeing how he was in the episode and his concern over the files seemed trivial.
I wonder if he was giving Angela clues when he dropped the file name? And is he working for someone, or is this for himself...is he looking for something against Angela? How does he even know about what's going on with Angela. I doubt Gene has any role in this. No way he could control the situation and 'High Power Guy' is the last person he probably wants to see with those papers, so again my question is: HOW THE HELL DOES HE FIT IN?
This has been an interesting mess. One question leads to ten more...and we never seem to get any answers. I guess that's a good thing...it at least makes me come back for more!- Posted Oct 11, 2006 9:03 am PT

2Oct 06A few poitns I have to make right off.
1- Drew is Dozer's real name! Was wondering about that.
2- Angela said 'no' to Peter -- Does that mean there's still hope for her and Dylan? I sure hope so. I like him. I want him back. I still think he's good for Angela. Plus I believe the two love each other
--> I beleive it even more (on Angela's side) because she said no to Peter. It was an interesting twist to bring Peter back.
Okay. Had to get those out. All in all I liked this episode. Yes it was filler/standard episode, what ever you want to call it.
The focus was on Dozer. I thought the whole was well written. Dozer's actions and responses were believable. His 'hero' status at the end felt earned and not contrived. I really liked it.
I liked Dozer's seat mate. (Can't remember her name, sorry). She was good support to Dozer. Skitish herself about flying, but in many ways a strong shoulder Dozer could lean on. I hope we see more of her. They make a cute couple.
Angela. I love that she visited her mom and finally after years of pushing her away finally listened to her. She's opening herself up. Probably not an easy thing for her. She's just lost Dylan though, the one person she did trust. So now she's trying to put her faith back in her parents.
Propbably not as hard as she thought it might be. We saw that she believed in her parents innocence until 4 years ago, that faith in them is still buried somewhere in her, and she's trying to bring it back to the surface. If anything else all the info she's learned in the past few months has at least made her doubt their guilt.
Some nice stringing us along on the writers part. I tune in each week of for nothing else the hope of learning more about Angela's parents.
Overall I enjoyed the episode. And I have hope that Dylan will reenter Angela's life. God I liked him.- Posted Oct 2, 2006 7:53 am PT

25Sep 06Ahh another standard episode that focus on a case rather than the entanglement of Angela's past. I wanted to know what that Document said. I suppose we'll learn eventually...
Overall I liked the case. It was an emotional one--especially for Leo. It has some twists I wasn't expecting, and others I figured out.
I liked how Leo was written. He was a role that was given credibility. He can't accept that his friend was gay He gets made. He doesn't believe, then he starts to accept. He runs through a range of emotions. It's difficult for him, but he accepts it. He also takes the higher road in the end telling Blake's lover that it was true he was leaving his wife for him.
Gene slipped. Mentioning a boyfriend... Though he explained it off in a reasonable and somewhat believable manner it's gonna come back to haunt him. Any and every mistake will.
I hope Angela and Dylan get back together. He looks like he's going through Hell. Angela still cares about him. So much so that she walks away and leaves Dylan alone. I hope when the truth comes out about Gene that they get a second chance.
A decent episode. Though the episodes that focus on Angela's family are more appealing to me, I did think this was one of the stronger episodes when it came to the case.- Posted Sep 25, 2006 5:18 am PT

19Sep 06I think this has been my favorite episode so far. Our case delt directly with Angela, her past, and the present delimma she finds herself in.
The case was a great way to fill us in on her background. We now understand how she and Dozer and Leo became a team. In the process we learned more about Dozer and Leo as well (always a nice thing...makes the characters more human...easier to relate to them, start to care for them.)
As I've said in earlier reviews, the part of this series that intrigues me is Angela and her history. The cases normally I can take or leave. It's this intricate weaving of her parents 'alledged' guilt (I'm not sure I believe they're truely guilty), Angela's brother's belief in her parents, Angela's doubts in her parents, the mysterious Gene...
This week the instant Angela's mother told Gene not to say anything to Angela I knew he was her father. When he was the only match for her, my assumption was only solidified. Gene is 'bad'. I just can't determine to what level of bad. Is he working to find eveidence that would free Angela's mother, clear her name (I don't think he has any desire to help Angela's father...in fact I think Gene was responsible for putting him in prison in the first place). Or is he himself the 'spy' who's looking for the information that Angela's parents have successfully hidden?
He contridicts himself though. If he's truely bad he wouldn't car about Angela. Yet he's clearly worried about her and he saves her (well helps, with the blood transfussion).
On the other hand (yet again) he goes about threatening Dylan, even when Dylan says he out. So I guess my only conclusion is that I don't trust Gene. I'm not sure how 'bad' he is, I just know I don't trust him.
I can't wait to see how Angela reacts to Dylan next week. I really feel sorry for the both of them. Angela finally lets her guard down and truely finds someone that she believes she can trust. I wonder if Dylan will explain why he did what he did and who he did it for.
And on a completely side note: Does everyone in this group read Russian? First Angela's brother and it sure seemed like Dylan was reading it too!- Posted Sep 19, 2006 5:15 am PT

16Sep 06Liked this weeks episode. Not nearly as much as last weeks (which if you had ask me if that would be the case two weeks ago I would have said no way in hell...I was sure last weeks ep was gonna be awful...shame on me for making assumptions).
What I liked best about this episode was Tempe and her back story. We got to see more emotion and 'human' interaction (we all know that's not her strong point) in this ep. It's nice to see this side of Tempe. I loved the deal she made at the end in the dinner. And Never doubt her 'Squints' would follow her anywhere...even Booth (nice to know that...I'm still holding out that they somehow hook up...which I think they will...it just might be a little game the producers and writers play with us before they give us that. Which I'm okay with. As long as it doesn't turn into a Jordan/Woody event. I'm no longer a J/W shipper after season 5. Took too long to get to it, then Woody's personality changes and then Jordan 'grew up' and now I no long want to see the two together. But I digress)
It's so nice to have Bones back! Though I'm gonna miss new eps when the World Series start, but if my Yankees are in the World Series, then all will be good

13Sep 06I started watching this summer because the preview caught my attention.
Angela's Eyes isn't the best show out there. There are so many crime/procedural dramas these days that many become a 'version' of the original. I still feel that Profile (remember way back to 1997) was the first (modern) of these sort of dramas. And it's hard to measure up to Profiler's first two season. CSI does it in a very scientific way, Crossing Jordan does it in a human way (it's about the characters). There are countless more out there all a mix of technical and human.
Angela's Eyes probably is more similar to Crossing Jordan in that it's focus/appeal is in the characters. The cases...well I can't remember most of them in any great detail. What I remember and what draws me to this show is Angela's story. Her family. Utterly fascinating. And we keep getting more twist and turns.
I have to say I like Dylan. When we first met him he appealed to me. Last nights twist we learn that Gene has hired him to spy on Angela. Two big shockers there.
1) We trusted Dylan and while we are given reason to hope and believe deep down he's a good man...that he agreed to spy on Angela in the first place leaves us weary. When (and we know she will) Angela finds out her already fragile trust in the human race is going to be shattered...here's to hoping they are able to work through it. Angela needs Dylan's love in her life.
2)Gene looks like a very bad guy. First impression we believed he was a caring man. He's looked out for and helped Angela all those years her parents were in prison. Now his motives look more like he was keeping a leash on her, waiting for her to be old enough to start communicating with her parents...he wants info and what better way that to get it through her... Don't trust Gene. I'm warning you now...even if he cares for Angela, he's still her enemy.
Unique/fascinating things: How Angela and her brother communicate. There who lives are based on focused on a mistrust of everyone around them. That they communicate through songs that they understand but leave others baffled is a fun aspect not to mention interesting.
So while only 5-7 minutes of the episode was focused on Angela's continuing crisis with her family, it was worth watching it for those few minutes. The series strength lies in this continuing story line.- Posted Sep 13, 2006 7:00 am PT

9Oct 05I know I know I'm a lousy poster...but if you had my life right now you'd understand. When I'm getting maybe 4 or 5 hours of sleep each night and going non-stop till I fall in bed...well you understand

Yesterday I slept till 10...I haven't done that in so long i can't remember the last time. i needed the sleep. Today I've been doing random things trying to catch up on life...you know cleaning, filing...laundry...all that boring stuff.
Tonight's my test. In fact I have to leave the house in 2 hours ugh...I'll let you all know how it goes. Right now I need to get some food and start getting ready to go....- Posted Oct 9, 2005 11:08 am PT

6Oct 05Okay I've calmed down
I love new episodes but it sure is stressful trying to get all the new info up on the ep, get the quotes, write reviews, take screen caps and answer the million messages coming my way.
I took screen caps of After Dark. I'm in love love love!!! HD quality RULES (thanks to caz) I've watched the ep like 10 times inthe past few days. I'm really not obsessed!!
Life event: I'm getting my hair cut this afternoon... I play volleyball tonight. I haven't played in YEARS so this should be interesting. I just don't want to embarass myself and I'll be happy.
Yankees play Friday! Go Yanks. I have to do my Intermediate Moves Skating test Sunday (level 5 of 8 levels) at 7:05 at NIGHT. UGH. The schedule totally sucks. I warm up at 5:30 then have to wait an hour and half to go test! Wish me luck. I failed the first time I took it, but I didn't expect to pass. I was just trying to get rid of the nerves.- Posted Oct 6, 2005 8:09 am PT

3Oct 05I'm sorry but people are not easy to work with here. REsubmit stuff...I don't have it to resubmit nor do I want to resubmit it. How hard is it for them to put the quote with the right episode. Grrrrrrr sorry this is why I have my own webpage with CJ everything...and I'm understanding!

2Oct 05I think I'm going to be stuck on Level 5 forever. I've been at 95 (or there abouts) for almost two weeks, despite posts and submissions...
It's a good thing I don't care about the whole level thing...but I wish it i'd at least go to level six

28Sep 05So I've decided I don't really like the whole new TV.com. Stuff from my web page has been added here (not that I had claim to quotes and stuff, but I did the work and someone else submitted it?) And this whole everyone can write reviews bothers me too. I liked when one person wrote them or two and they were the same people week after week, and the set up of the site still bothers me some.
Oh well this is why I created my own site. So I could do things the way I like. Now if only more people would participate in the blog I'd be all set.
Oh if you're a CJ fan the screen caps are starting to go up! There's No Place Like Home II will be up soon tomorrow probably and Julia and I are adding eps from the other seasons daily.
O Brother has amazingly clear pics (that's to CJrox. Thank you caz!!!!) LOL I'm still marveling at the episode quality hehehe
Okay I'm finished ranting. I was just a bit upset.- Posted Sep 28, 2005 10:38 am PT
