The Bad Astronomy & Universe Today Forum has a section for people to post their astronomical photographs and I just thought I'd share this picture of the Milky Way over Valle de la Luna, Atacama, Chile. A breathtaking image.

Beautiful! I use a shot of Thor's Helmet as my wallpaper.

That's awesome. My wallpaper is a picture of Earth from Apollo 8.

Before I checked it out, I was sure it was gonna be Earthrise.

And here i thought it was gonna be a photoshopped picture of a huge candy bar in the sky, considering the website you said it was at... i wish i could see half the sky that clearly...

Actually, Hoeech, I have a Life magazine picture of the Apollo 8 Earthrise on my living room wall.

Parsec54, I guess the name Bad Astronomy is misleading, but it's a great site.

Thanks, that was spectacular. No light pollution to interfere, miles and miles from nowhere, in the driest spot on the planet, Atacama. What we, who live anywhere near a city miss! I probably shouldn't say this, but it just went into my folder: Space Images.
