#7 of genre countdown

September 1, so2 days to go and school starts for me. I will have 10 classes/courses, but the teaching system is different then in U.S. so don't just go . I will have 3 languages (Bosnian, German and English), Math, Economic Mathematic, Psihical Education (glad to have it, I can release my stress from school on it ), marketing, Economy-Bussines, Information Technology (releated to Economy-Bussines) and the next name is only one subject and it's called Civic Education, democracy and civil rights. Now to let school behind. Like I said I made my brackets, but I would loved if GameSpot allowed us to show our brackets to our friends. My fav heroes from the list is are Cloud Strife and Kratos but my final four are Mario, Master Chief, Mario and Link, with Mario and Snake in finals and Snake winning (even though I'm not a big of Snake but I don't want Mario to win ). And I added one more emblem to my collection for voting in the qualification of ATG Now let start with #7 of genre countdown:

#7: Shooters

Shooter games are a subgenre of action game, which often test the player's speed and reaction time. Because "shooters make up the majority of action games", it is a fairly it's own genre. It includes many subgenres that have the commonality of focusing "on the actions of the avatar using some sort of weapon. Usually this weapon is a gun, or some other long-range weapon". A common resource found in many shooter games is ammunition.


Killing people is fun, but killing zombies is more fun.

For many shooters are by far there favorite genre and until the wide spreading of the 5th generation of conoles, only people who played shooters and RPG were called gamers. I myself started to play shooter when I was 12 years . Even then I played CoD, Counter-Strike, Battlefield and those games at the begin. I never was big fan of shooters but the amount of shooter games that are coming out is imense and if you don't play them you are probably missing most of the best games of a pariculary year. Without further ado let's see which are my favorite franchises out there from this genre (the one I still need to play is Unreal Tournament) :

1) Crysis
2) Bioshock
3) Half-Life
4) Medal of Honor
5) Doom
6) Far Cry
7) Quake
8 ) Battlefield
9) Call of Duty

That was number 7. The next blog will probably be my monthly blog, and after that I'm planning to make a blog of my most anticipated games of this fall . Ramadan, a month of fasting and for Muslims the most holy month of the year, started 9 days ago, and since I'm a Muslim, we are fasting since the true dawn to dusk, so that means no water or food in that time. And to be honest it really can be hard to fast for 15-16 hours on a day .

Also, these are the genres which are still in race:

Platformers, Action-Adventure (stealth, survival-horror, open world games), Adventure, Role-Playing games (Action RPG, MMORPG, Tactical RPG), Startegy (Real-Time Strategy, Tower defense, 4X, Real-Time tactics, Turn-based strategy, Turn-based tactics) and Puzzle.

    I've always loved shooters, but the one that I play the most is Doom.

    Shooters are alright, I don't, however, appreciate their dominance in the game market right now.

    Not a very big fan of shooters (although I'm good at them ) .. but that's because I dun rly like First Person mode i.e. not being able to see my character but only his weapon ..

    and wow that's a lot of hours to fast !! .. here it's a little bit less .. plus you can always spend most of it sleeping ..

    Wow that is a lot of subjects you have to do there. And shooter huh? I have played a few like Counter Strike and CoD 4 but that is about it for me though. And wow 15-16 hours with out eating or drinking... that does sound really hard. I don't think I could do it. Enjoy your weekend though.

    I have missed pretty much all the "genre countdown" blogs I try to check those soon as possible! I think I could not fast 15-16hours! Because of my training I eat about 4-5 times a day (+protein drinks ect) In the army I didn't eat (or sleep) as much because we didn't have the chance... but now that I can eat I eat But it seems you have the mental power to do it

    not my fave genre, but still a good pass time, half life is epic, i like a bit of far cry and i just about do Cod

    Would you consider fallout a shooter because it appears that you like it yet it isn't on the list, do you think it's more of an RPG?

    I just bought Pariah for Xbox an hour ago today, only bought it for the map editor. But my all-time favorite shooter is Half-Life 2 and have completed that game and episode 1 (episode 2, here I come!)

    @macrules_640 - I'm still not a real fan of shooters but I do play them, and Doom is great

    @SquareEnixFan13 - I also hate that they dominate the market it's like they are made on a track

    @Just-Adam - That was an unussually reason why not to play a lot of a genre it's not that I get hungry, but thirsty and it's still High School

    @metroidblaster - thanks, and yes, I do consider Fallout as a RPG, and it's called from Bethesda as a RPG

    @NuKkU - I also like them but I'm still not a great fan of them

    @Colmillios - I have 10 this year and in my country that's a small amount of subjects, in my 8th class I had 20 subjects It's not that hard for me to fast, althought I get thirsty thanks

    @MorkkiTH - it doesn't matter, I miss also a lot of blogs I also eat much but I said myself that I need to do it, it's just a month, I can eat as much as I want after it's Ramadan is over

    @sina69 - If I remeber, I think my first shooter was Medal of Honor, and RTS is still in the race

    @gormo4 - you can see that it isn't my fav genre also, and yeah, Half Life is epic and thanks

    i thought shooter would be in top5, you're not a FPS fan then..
    and btw my top 4 are just like you but its master chief and link in the final and link winning..

    My favorite shooter is Chronicles of Riddick Escape from Butcher Bay,because I like it's brutal universe and combination of stealth,shooting and being able to sneak up on an enemy and break their neck.I like Doom 3 a lot because it scared me,and I like Bioshock's underwater city atmosphere,and Call of Duty 4 and 5 are great P.S I'm supposed to be doing Ramadan, but I'm not a good muslim like you

    Have fun in school, My college also started from 1st Sept meaning today, It was boring & No c-l-a-s-s-e-s whatsoever but why, Well that's my next blog.........May B .........

    I also got the new emblem, My finale ones r snake, Mario, link, master chief (Pretty same as u huh) but finalists r link & Mario with link winning by 65% of votes , I wish snake wins but it seems hard, I love Snake & don't dare to say anything bad about him or I'll shoot u.........

    For Yr Info GS Community Manager JodyR has confirmed that brackets viewing (meaning brackets comparing with friends) will b available once bracket lock means after 1st Sept in US...........

    Man Shooters is one epic & vast genre, I couldn't call favs cause There r too many of them & I can miss a lot.......

    BTW What r u doing u r putting all great genres out of the line, What will b ur fav ones boring strategy or Puzzle

    It seems ur No#1 will b action adventure like me but PLZ don't say RPG or We r not friends anymore ............

    I love shooters very very much, it's one of my favorite genres

    Crysis is one of my best shooters I've played, I'm playing it again and this time since I bought a new VGA card which FINALLY can play Crysis on Very High settings lol. It actually changed a lot from medium, even from high to very high since everything is changed, graphics, shadows, physics, textures... etc. It felt like playing a new game even though I played it before. And now I finished it and am playing Crysis Warhead and it's even better!

    School starts for me only on the 15th of September. As a shooter I have to say that one of the best I've played was the original Halo

    I was never fond of the shooter genre but I have to admit it holds some of the best games. One that I played lately is the incredible Half Life. To appreciate this genre I guess I have to play more shooters
