#9 of genre countdown

It passed more then 2 days when I posted number 10 so it's time to show you number 9. After the GamesCom finish I will write a blog about it, about the most important and interesting things which happend so I will probably stop this countdown for a few day then . Since the new PS3 slim is revealed and the price cut happend, I will buy a PS3 even sooner (at least I hope), but I'm in a dilema. I don't know which to buy, should it be the c1assic 80GB PS3 or the 120GB Slim version (HDD isn't a problem I will probably change it anyway). The price is the same but I kinda like more the c1assic look with the chrome finish and it looks more badass. Help would come good at this moment Please comment in the comment. The slim is fine and I could live with it and the way it looks but the "fat" one just looks better and I don't know if the slim will have some errors and technical mistakes at the begin of manufacturing. Now let me show you #9 of my countdown:

#9: Sport Genre

A sports game is a computer or video game that simulates the playing of traditional sports. Most sports have been recreated with a game, including team sports, athletics and extreme sports. Some games emphasize actually playing the sport (such as the Madden NFL series), whilst others emphasize strategy and organization (such as Championship Manager). Some, such as Arch Rivals, satirize the sport for comic effect. This genre has been popular throughout the history of video games and is competitive, just like real-world sports. A number of games series feature the names and characteristics of real teams and players, and are updated annually to reflect real-world changes.

The genre is not to be confused with electronic sports, which is used to describe computer and video games which are played as competitive sports.

It looks like Sport is in front of fighting. Well it's hard to talk about sport 'cause it differs between countries but I will name my favortie sports and that way you can guess which are my favorite games from this genres. My favorite sports are football (soccer), basketball, voleyball and tennis (well from this list it's sure that I'm from Europa ), but I also like to watch extreme sports.

My favorite sport games and franchises:

1)Tony Hawk games (skateborading)
2) Evolution Soccer (well obviously football-soccer)
3)NBA 2K (basketball)
4)Top Spin (tennis)
5) Fifa (soccer-football)
6) Virtua Tennis (tennis)

I'm planning to make a blog about GamesCom, Cologne (or Köln how it is written in German), after it's finished so the next genre will be showed in about 5 days . This was for the place 9, so that means8 to go. The genres which still are in are:

Platformers, Shooters, Action-Adventure (stealth, survival-horror, open world games), Adventure, Role-Playing games (Action RPG, MMORPG, Tactical RPG), Startegy (Real-Time Strategy, Tower defense, 4X, Real-Time tactics, Turn-based strategy, Turn-based tactics), Vehicle based games (arcade and simulations, it doesn't matter which vehicle, it can be cars, planes, boats, etc.) and Puzzle.

    that's an interesting countdown! sport genre is my least favorite

    can't wait for the rest! and I'll predict that RPG genre is No. 1

    hehe same dilemma as mine .. but I made my decision to get the 80 gig one ..

    as for your sport list it doesn't neccessarily mean you're from europa .. just that u're not from North America and probably not Australia .. cuz the rest of the world enjoys those as well ! xD ..
    And my all-time favorite game in this genre would definitely be Winning Eleven !! I started with Winning Eleven 3 on the ps1 and have bought dozens of its sequels (all except one or two on the PS2) .. I used to love the Japanese commentator even tho I didn't understand 99% of what he said .. but then I couldn't find Winning Eleven after WE 11 .. so I had to switch to Pro Evolution which is practically the same ..

    Interesting countdown you have going here and I've played a few sport games, but I'm really not into them.

    And as for the PS3, I'm saving for the slim, if that's any help. If you don't have much room for your consoles (like me), go with the slim, that's one of the reasons I'm getting a slim, I didn't have enough spaced before they announced the Slim. And your right the original looks better, but you're not going to be staring at the console the whole time.....are you?

    I liked playing sports games such as Madden NFL and NBA Jam against other people on the SEGA Genesis,those were good days

    Hmm.. I got mixeed reactions as sports games, I played Fifa- I liked it (used to be a football fan) but then I pick it up next year and find it's almost exactly the same, just looks different.. o_0 my fave sports game is SSX tricky snowboarding ftw.

    My favourite sports are basketball, tennis, soccer, volleyball (i prefer beach volley to indoors actually), ice hockey, handball and athletics... but i basically watch every sport... i like pool and snooker games, btw... gotta love Pool Hall Pro for the Wii, amazing one... i own also Virtua Tennis, FIFA, NBA, NHL copies... and Outlaw Volleyball, didn't manage to play much...

    I think it is a good position for sport genre , I personally not a fan but I can't deny that we've seen some incredible reviews for a lot of sports games.

    @dark_massenger - one of my first games was a sport game and I like to play it against y friends, it's just pure fun you will see if you were right with your prediction

    @Just-Adam - I'm also thinking to get the 80GB one, it just looks better but I could live alsowith the slim Winning Eleven is PES but it's called that way in Japan

    @bak1234567890 - it all depends from person to person, to be honest I have spend more then 1, maybe even 2 hours to make the list

    @macrules_640 - thanks, I like them when I play them with my friends, they also are boring for me when I play them alone

    @SquareEnixFan13 - I still sometimes take Proskater 3 and 4 and play them and about PS3, I'm not gonna stare only at it but I kinda like more the 80GB but I could live with the slim also, I will ask my sister and cousin which one will I take 'cause they will also play it

    @ZanarkandTidus - I started to really play sport games on PS1 and as you may know me, I played and lost but then I trained for probably 10 or more hours and then I beat everyone. I just like to play sport games against my friends

    @gormo4 - you can't feel a big difference in sport games which are coming out every year, there is difference but to really feel it you need to wait 2-3 sessions. I played SSX but I like Skateboarding more

    @Meelkud - I never played beach volleyball the same for icehockey but I also love athletics but there aren't many good gamesbased on it pool? not something for me

    @alidallal - I love the competition in spot games when I play them with my friends I was even thinking to put it even higher

    @Colmillios - My sister was something the same, she played a lot of sport games with me but then she quit that genre

    @riou7 - you got it right will you be right again?

    I think the classic PS3 looks a lot cooler than the slim-version - at least in my living room!
    Awesome that u play PES, too, I haven't met that much people around here who do!
