I'm still playing my way through BioShock. I'm pretty far into it now but I'm only playing on medium... think I might go back through it all again though as saving Little Sisters doesn't yield as much ADAM.
Anyone else notice that the Splicing gene is ADAM and the plasmid power is called EVE ?. ADAM & EVE ?. Am I the only one who just found that out ?... Moving on.
This game is full of plot twists and really intensely creepy sections where you KNOW something is going to jump out at you but where from you can't be sure. Rounding a corner and coming face to face with a Big Daddy isn't one for the faint hearted either, even though you know it won't touch you unless you shoot it first.
Funny though the amount of times I've tried to take a close up picture of them and whipped out the wrench by mistake and Clobbersaurused it in the fa.... helmet ?. Not a good idea. Specially when your low on ammunition.
So yeah between that and still sporadically playing Forza 2 and PES6 Master League on my PC, my 360 mostly has been keeping me fairly occupied in the gaming world.

I can't deny it... I love golf. I used to play it in real life as a kid and when I came home from School I'd fire up PGA Tour III on the Mega Drive and play my grandfather a round of virtual golf before dinner. So when I saw that the demo for Tiger 08 had hit the marketplace I had to download it and try it out.
So first things first I had Tiger 07 on the 360 and although the graphics looked great and the gameface was awesome I had bother with the True-Swing. I could never for the life of me hit that bloody ball straight. Just like in real life then I guess. However I did manage to complete the Tiger Challenege. Putting was also a nightmare as I could never judge the puts right.
When I fired up the demo and played the 3 holes on offer. It looks good. The graphics as per usual are quite nice. I don't know what course it is off the top of my head but its obviously rendered in the autumn/fall as the trees are all yellows and reds. Looks great.
The controls are for the most part exactly the same. You have your True-Swing. They have a new fade and draw mechanic where you can add it to the ball by using the left and right bumpers, where before you had to use the stick to apply it. They have a new putting cam on the green where it'll show you the path the ball will take but you can only use this once so you have to guess where you think the ball will go, use it and then adjust again to get it in. My favourite new control addition though is this :-
3-CLICK SWING IS BACK !
Yes 3-Click swinging is back and its WAY more accurate to use than the True-Swing. Don't get me wrong I like using the stick to swing, it does feel more like the back and through nature of a golf swing but trying to judge distance with it is a nightmare. 3-Click takes me back to the Mega Drive days and I'm just glad they put that back in.
The demo also comes with the option to try some challenges on the EA Gamernet... but of course you have to go through there T's and C's... register your gamertag with an e-mail to create an account through there game... then say if you want them to send you junk mail or not... blah blah blah... I couldn't be bothered with this so I just cancelled out of it.
One thing I wish they HAD put in the demo was a small taster of the new gameface where you can use the live cam (or upload a photo I think I heard too) and the game puts "Your Face in the Game!"
Judging from the demo... I might get Tiger 08... I'll probably have to in the end anyway as they will no doubt close the servers down on 07 sooner rather than later.
Right... I just had to get up onto my soap box and get this off my chest and out into the open.
Violence in video games doesn't kill people. It never has and it never will. What kills people is the impressionable people that play violent video games.
I've played every Grand Theft Auto. Has the experience made me want to go out, hijack a car, grab the nearest hooker, bang her and then shoot her to get the money back off her as she gets out the car.... no.
I've played Saints Row. Has the experience made me want to go around gang banging people on the street... no.
See I could go on like this right... but the point I'm getting to is its not the violent content in games that needs screening... its the people PLAYING the games that need screening. Obviously if you put Grand Theft Auto into the hands of impressionable kids its a guarentee that they are going to get ideas out of it and try to emulate it in real life, usually with dire consiquenses.
I've never been tempted to emulate anything I've seen in a game in real life. Sure there are people I've met I've thought to myself, God wheres a gun when you need one... but then I'd spend the rest of my life rotting away in jail cell.
So in closing here right... Let game companies have free reign just like the movie business does and rate games accordingly. Don't force game designers to tone things down and cater to having to ship with a certain rating and make sure that people selling games are asking for appropriate ID when selling mature games.
I'm sick of hearing that violent games kill people. Its not the games folks... its the crazy people who play them.

I was in Glasgow today and one of the stores was selling Bioshock early since they got it in this morning.
So I PROMPTLY stumpped up the cash and bought myself a copy.
I'm well chuffed... haven't stuck it in yet as I want peace to do so, which is impossible around here... but still. I have Bioshock !
So I heard this rumour going about (check GamePolitics) that Jack Thompson aka "the violence specialist" is taking a beef with Take-Two over there soon to be released (unless your Toys-R-Us) game Bioshock.
Apparently his beef is that you kill little demonic girls in it called "little sisters".
Anyone else think this man should maybe have something better to do with his time ? Like maybe he should move on and do something constructive rather than try and kill off all the good games that the industry puts out. Guys an eejit. ESPECIALLY if this rumour is true.
I really do hope a 1000 flamingos crap on his porch.

Well I finally got to try the Bioshock demo today after trying unsucessfully to download it when it came out on the Marketplace.
All I can say after playing through it is WOW. Game of the Year anyone ?. This game is going to be the bomb. The graphics and gameplay are fabulous. This could be the Xbox360's Half Life 2 (yes I am aware that Half Life 2 is comming to 360)... i.e. the game that defines the platform. Stuff Gears of War... this is everything Gears should have been on the 360 and then some.
If you haven't tried this demo you should make it your mission to play it NOW !... Go... Why you reading this if you haven't played it... get downloading... PRONTO !.
I've pre-ordered this... you should too. I can't wait.
Between this Asassins Creed, Halo 3 and Madden 08 (even though I want All Pro. 2K a Europe release PLEASE !) its going to be a great next few months. Specially as I'm limited to one game a month now due to a little cash flow problem lol.
