AmaterasuFan13's blog

A sad sad world it will be if there is no Sony.

  • 14Jun 09

It's been so long since my last blog, and I'm here again just to update it a bit. I've been playing REC:VX last May, as well as SO:SE. I've gotten ranks E, D, B, B and A in REC:VX. In SO:SE, I've almost unlocked everything. One more playthrough and I'll be seeing all of them. And THEN I'll finish the Maze of Tribulations.

Ohyeah. I finally braved playing Patapon again. I chickened out after reaching the sand worm Zaknel. I wasn't able to beat the heck outta him. But ohboyohboyohboy. I did it. I BEAT ZAKNEL. And I got the horse-riding Patapon.

Darn. A lot of RPGs are taking my precious time away from me. First, Final Fantasy I (the PSP remake). Then FF II. And then FF IV. And FF V. And now? Radiata Stories? It's gonna be a wild vacation. I'm ready to take the plunge. =))

Anyway, there's still a reason for me to be excited. Aside from the impending danger of finishing Resident Evil 4 (again), I'm looking forward to actually starting my Basic Stats project. It's gonna be pretty daunting, especially since I'm so caught up with these videogames. What else? I'm supposed to be confirming the various secrets and easter eggs and whatever on Resident Evil 4. Looking real forward to that. And then what? Practice some guitar? Yep. Watch TV, yawn, sleep, play with my little dog (who just destroyed her nice water bowl) and do something productive. Oh, what a sweet vacation.

Well, ever since June started, I haven't been able to touch my consoles. PS2, PSP, nothing. But recently, I got the urge to make some stuff about Vergil. Yep, the DMC3 hottie. The guy with the badass attitude. Ever since DMC3, I have liked Vergil WAY MORE than his cocky, arrogant, loud-mouthed, stubborn younger brother. Honestly, I had less liking at Dante ever since DMC2. I mean, why are all of you so silent and emo and stuff?

Anyways, looky at my avi and siggy: ALL VERGIL! Plus my profile banner is also Vergil! Talk about big addiction. Anyways, I'm thinking about making a site, ALL ABOUT VERGIL. Again. Yeah, I'm crazy.

BUT LOOK AT HIM! ISN'T HE HAWWWT!?!?!?

Well, actually, nobody major in my life died (except my hamster. WAH!) I just wanted to resurface my website that has been buried under so many useless blog posts.

    www.freewebs.com/hadestheprowler

Let's touch another issue, shall we?

How come many people don't appreciate a lot of new things. Most of the male adults beg for one thing: Bloodshed. Most of my close friends and family (I'm talking about the males) all want God of War, Naruto and all those that involve getting the bejeezus kicked out of you.

I'm a girl. I'm a gamer. And although I appreciate Crisis Core, Untold Legends and FFVII (all involve fighting), I also find time to play proper games. Loco Roco and Patapon (yes, of course Patapon involves flying spears, but not to the point that everything is red) and even flOw.

My point is: Why won't many of you try something new? So what if they are 2D games? Lack of blood burning your eyes?

Pfft. Males like that deserve to be... curbstomped.

LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy has landed on my PSP, and boy is it nice. I hate how the people in the Cantina are gone, but hey, it's still alright, right?

SIXTY FOUR MORE BATTLES TO DEATH!

That's what one would say when he's in a real-life RPG.

SIXTY FOUR MORE HOURS TO PLAY THIS!!!!

    Now that's your battlecry.

One of the biggest games in the Final Fantasy series is a series in itself. The vast compilation of games, episodes and whatnot show how deep FFVII is. BRILLIANT!

here's something for Cloud x Aeris shippers:

If it's a link, click. If part of the text, paste in the address bar.

    I'm a Cleris fan myself!

Well, being a loyal Sony fan, I would like to know about this. I don't hate Microsoft. I hate Nintendo but not the hatred that stays there forever (curse the Wii! They stole Okami!). So I'm wondering why you morons hate Sony. Ow, my head throbs. I hate those freakin' loud-mouthed fanboys.

I have definitely seen a lot of reviews from many of GameSpot's users and also from local magazines (from the Philippines). I have noticed the reviewers' potentials and writing prowess, and all their viewpoints and first impressions of the games they are reviewing. All of them deliver their reviews honestly, and sometimes in a biased form, but not all have delivered their reviews so fluently and boldly.

A select few reviews have won my attention, and ever since, I have continued to view their incredibly fluid reviews. I am also saddened to say that some reviewers have created reviews with minimal effort and even smaller regards for grammar and proper punctuation. These reviewers, though so eager to review a game, have just used so small an effort and have definitely expressed in a wild, abstract manner that can either be intimidating or confusing.

In lieu of this remark, I have created a list of vital things to consider when reviewing a game:

    • Consider Proper Grammar Usage
    • Consider Proper Spelling
    • Proper Punctuation
    • Clear insights
    • Proper delivery of views
    • Usage of punctuation marks when paraphrasing

Feel free to contribute more things in the list by adding comments to this blog. I do hope that nonchalant reviewers fond of the fanboy-ism remarks such as "OMG! Lyk dis game rocks socks, get it!!! It's sooooo awesome!!!! Great gameplay! Graphics!" and whatnot will realize how "embarassing" and foolish they are, and will now create detailed reviews.

However, if you are fine of this wacky job, well, who am I to tell you otherwise? Go for it!

Okay, here's the skinny: I want to tell my views about this.

ABOUT THE PSP LACKING HORROR TITLES

    -------------------------------------------------

Yes, the PSP sorely lacks a bevy of horror titles. Developers should not shy away from the handheld. It's not as weak as they think, and it's actually more powerful than other consoles, considering that it can play movies, music and the like. Much like the PS2, the PSP is a great machine, hindered only by the discouraging remarks and views by most people.

Patapon has officially, OFFICIALLY, held me. It's one of the best games I've ever played, hindered only by my love for Untold Legends: The Warrior's Code. So, to symbolize this, I am giving a nice, juicy, orange Patapon logo here!

Yes, count on me for gibberish.

Sony was the first to make portable cassette players. They practically invented high-end TVs. At the first attempt at programming, they were on par with then-experienced Nintendo. They were the first to release the next-gen (now old-gen) PS2, ahead of Nintendo's GameCube and Microsoft's XBox. They innovated handhelds by combining what they had learned into a multimedia sensation in your pocket. They released a powerful next-gen console that barely, BARELY copied Wii. They are among the best companies to walk the earth. What will Sony do next? No one knows. The future of gaming is here. The future is Sony.

As you have come to notice by my past blog posts, I'm the person you'd least expect to touch on vital issues and/or serious topics. Well, it's gonna be a special post yet again as I put on my 1st quarter report about the PSP.

As many "loud-mouthed fanboys" of different companies claim, their company has made the "best system", "best handheld" and "best game library". Third-party developers/publishers aren't picking systems, but they sure are choosing the systems that can handle more power so these touchy developers/publishers can get better response for their games.

Enter the PSP: the first handheld created by the gifted minds from Sony. Essentially a "portable PSX*", the PSP can play videos, music, store pictures, and most especially, play games. It had recently had its fill of UMD movies, updates, upgrades and customized themes. For those who like to listen to the PSP, they store music. The people who are as buff in movies as they are in games have stored countless movies in their memory sticks. Those who like the aesthetic nature of technology have since stored a lot of pictures for their eyes. And finally, to the main audience that plays games, they've had their deep fills of games that ranged from abysmal to excellent.

Unfortunately, a lot of people still haven't recognized the system's potential, and have regarded it as the "Underdog" next to Nintendo's so-called "handheld king", the DS. The PSP certainly can't play touch screens, but keep in mind: Kutaragi and his team are bound to create something big. Actually, it has already happened. The PSP is the only handheld to serve as a multimedia machine that can fit in one's pocket. Then, everyone should stop to think: can Shigeru Miyamoto's handheld beat Sony's genius? Well, that answer, I leave in your hands. But for me, Sony wins.

The PSP, as said earlier, has earned a lot of games that definitely won the game-hungered hearts of people. The system offered excellent graphics, sound, replayability and gameplay. Although many are just console hand-me-downs, they are well-translated. Some are direct sequels of the PS2's games, and are definitely great. From the past, we had Daxter, Naughty Dog's handheld heir, GTA, Rockstar's biggest winner, and of course, MGS: PO, Konami's handheld masterpiece. New series have been realized in the PSP, too. One of these is the excellent Untold Legends series, a deadly contender in the RPG arena. Today, we have Patapon, the best rhythm game for the PSP, GoW: Chains of Olympus, Kratos' first venture to the handheld, and on the horizon are more games, one of which is SquareEnix's much-awaited Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII.

From the looks of it, the PSP will have a bright future ahead, proven by the past and present games, and the previews even. I just hope many of the gamers out there realize its potential and stop trash-talking Sony's console. Biased be damned.

So far, I've reviewed a good 27 games. Not half bad. But I've got lots of problems. Game reviewing has become my addiction, and now I try as much as I can to review games I recently played. HELP!
