So, I got my Gamecube today. It's a black one, one controller, one memory card, and the five games:
1. Metroid Prime
2. Mario Kart Double Dash
3. Resident Evil 4
4. Resident Evil Remake
5. Smash Bros Melee (no case, but no biggie)
I've only played a bit of Melee so far, but i'll give some of my thoughts:
1. I tried the method of getting Marth, (the guide said to do a vs. match with 14 characters). That didn't work, and i'm annoyed.
2. The game still feels WAY too fast for me. I really dug the slower paced feel of Smash Bros (original), and this one feels too harried for me. I died in a fight against Jiggly Puff (as Peach), because I had no clue what was going on.
3. I played through Adventure Mode, and it seemed fine. One question though: What the F*** happened to the Star Fox squad voices? Peppy, Slippy, and Falco's replacement voice actors sound horrible. I'm not a fan of that at all.
Ah well, later everyone.
Stuff:
1. So, if all goes well, tomorrow, i'll be getting that GC. I was able to get enough cash for it. I hope it works, and the like, and that i'll get used to the funky controller.
2. I picked up Kane's Wrath today. It's kinda interesting. I'm really not into the whole actually doing missions. I'd rather just cheat my way through. I like the C&C games for their story, and the characters. I do like the split factions within each faction though. I tried out the Steel Talon today, and they seemed ok. I'll try and get more into it later, but I enjoy it so far. I'd probably give it a 8 out of 10.
3. Every episode of South Park is avalible here. This is VERY cool. I like that it's legal, and is all up there (and will be updated as soon as new episodes come out).
4. The trailer for Doctor Who "Series" (season) 4 is up. It looks good. Donna seems really toned down, from her brash attitude from before. Plus, the Ood seem always evil.
5. I found a copy of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (in box) at my work yesterday. It's the Mac version, but it can easily be played on a PC, with an Apple 2 emulator. It comes on 5 floppy disks. Awesome.
Ah well, that's it for now kiddo's. Mahalo.
EDIT: I forgot something. In the Kane's Wrath box, they're like "Yo, you go to this website, enter this code, and you can join a beta program for Red Alert 3"....which is cool.
.....except for the fact the website doesn't work. "Whoops". Good times.
So, I might buy a Gamecube on wed, for 50$. I found a guy selling one on Craigslist. Comes with one controller, cords, the GC, one memory card, and these 5 games:
1. Resident Evil
2. Resident Evil 4
3. Metroid Prime
4. Mario Kart Double Dash
5. Super Smash Bros Melee
I think for 50 bucks, that's a good deal. But, that's just me.
Ok, so I was reading an article about how the oil company is screwing everyone. The claim was in 2007, Exxon-Mobile earned 40.6 billion a year, which equaled about 1,287$ per second. So, I wanted to see if that was right or not:
Steps:
1. Ok, 365 days in a year. 24 hours in a day. 1440 minutes per day. That leads to 86400 seconds per day.
2. So, 86,400 times 365 = 31,536,000 seconds per year.
3. Now, times 31,536,000 by 1,287$, and you get, 40,586,832,000$ (this is the total amount posed by the article).
4. You'll know how the article rounded up the amount Exxon-Mobile has. To be fair, the amount needed for the 40,600,000,000 you'd need a number going 1,287.417$ (for the sake of this, 1287.42), since there is no thousandths of a cent.
So, generally speaking (aside from calender mistakes, such as leap second, and the like), the math pretty much works out. It's kinda nice. Plus, it's kinda interesting to see math, in a semi-practical use.
