Blame Video Games
I would like to know your opinion on a good subject. A subject that many gamers take offense to. It is the subject of when violence or killings are blamed on video games. For Example "at a local school three people died, the media would say the kid behind the shooting played GTA:SA for five hours before starting the attack".
What is your opinion on this subject? If you would like to see mine it is below.
I fully understand that playing violent video games can have a big impact on people, but playing video games is never to full reason. Music, Movies, Books, Tv, Society, Enviroment, Family, and Video games have just as big of impact as eachother (none have more than others). So to say video games were to blame is like saying books are to blame when people never leave their house. While it may be a factor... so is a lot of things.
Hitler did not play GTA: SA yet he still ordered his men to kill so many people it is unbelievable. What do you think caused him to do this? Well probably his family and the enviroment he was in. His family could have beat him as a child and he could have supressed the anger for a long time. Well damn that isn't a video game... I mean hell the 1st 2 games i ever played were Doom and Wolfenstien 3D and i am pretty sure i haven't killed anyone yet.
Firstly i hate when someone is killed and the killer is blamed with a disease, illness, or insanity. They are trying to tell me that they had absolutly no control over their actions? Our military forces have killed people, but i don't see anyone saying they are insane. Why? Because they are doing the "right" thing (i am no a pacifist by any means just trying to make a point).
If they try blaming Video games for this then they have to blame every form of entertainment and all factors that came into play. That means Books, Tv, Movies, Music, Sports (yes sports can be violent), and they must also blame other factors like society, enviroment, and family (if they had an impact on the action). Hell some sports encourage you to be violent... none tell you to kill someone, but neither do a lot of things. Playing Gears of War never told me to drift my car through my town, but i still did it.

Exclusivity
Some people say that there should be no exclusive games for consoles and some say there should.
I think there should. Why? Because if there were no exclusive games then there would be almost no need for more than one console. While some may say that would be good, think about it a little longer. If there was only one console then that could be a way overpriced console. I "COULD" have a big impact on how many people lose their jobs.
Now if there were no exclusives and there were all three consoles then why would you buy a PS3? Since 100% of the games would be multiplatform (meaning ported games) the games would be made on the cheapest and easiest console to make the games on. That would be the Wii or 360. If they were made for the 360 and ported to the Wii and PS3 that would mean the 360 version would have the best chance of being the best version. A lot of the time when games are ported, the ported version will be downgraded in either graphics or content (missing modes) or could be upgraded in some parts, but lack in others. Would you want to take a chance is hope the game wouldn't be missing content? I wouldn't, so why not buy the console were the most games are made on and then ported off. Well that would mean you would most likely buy a 360 or Wii (more likely the 360). Now you may say the PS3 version of the game would still have better graphics... if you truly believe that then have fun. Try and tell me how many times EA made games for the PS2 and Xbox and the Xbox version looked better? The xbox was more powerful, but never looked better. Why? Well that could just be because it is EA and that is what they do, but still most companies that release multi-platform games on the same date will take a straight downgraded port to get the same release date. If they don't do the same release date (Virtua Fighter 5 being put on 360 like 6 - 12 months later) then there will either be upgrades or they don't want to downgrade their games at all (Some companies actually care about their stuff). Which should be done.
Of course you can say that if there were no exclusives then you could get all the games you want. While that is true i still would not want to spend well over a thousand dollars for a console (which could happen). Of course it may be lower just so people would get it. I mean that would be like making one pencil cost $23 while pens are in packs of 3 for $1... Why would you buy a damn pencil? Of course though pencils and pens are in competition and with no exclusivity in gaming there would be no competition in consoles. So there would only be the option on a pencil for $23. Of course if you wanted it then you would HAVE to get it for the price because there would be no substitute.
Now you may say games would cost less because they would be in more direct competition. But that isn't fully true. Without direct competition like now. Direct competition meaning anyone can get it, unlike what is going on now which is if a game is put on a 360 only then people who own a PS3 won't have a chance to get it. But without direct competition the games have to try and put people from the other consoles so they can sell more. Meaning they could drop the price to $20 for a MGS or Halo so more people would be pulled into buying it. They don't because they would probably still not make as much profit. With Direct competition it would be close to the same thing. Instead of pulling them away from the other consoles, they would be pulling them away from the other games. So they could drop the price, but even still may not make enough profit or as much as before.
All in all i think there should be some exclusivity, but if the exclusivity is lost (Capcom related) they arn't betraying anyone. I mean if you believe they are then technically you would have to think that like 60% of the devlopers betrayed someone (Square left Nintendo, Konami left Nintendo, Rare left Nintendo, Bungie left i guess Apple is a sense, Sega left themselves, Tecmo left Nintendo). More or less everyone left Nintendo (which sucks for them big time).
Konami - MGS was originally on Nintendo
Square - Main Final Fantasies were on Nintendo
Rare - Banjo, Perfect Dark, and other good games were on Nintendo
Tecmo - Ninja Gaiden was on NintendoThing should just stay the way they are and people should just think more about the decision of which console they want more. But what do you guys think about it?
