This is a short hello everyone, goodbye everyone message as at 3am I'm heading off to Lanzarote! WOO HOO! Me and my two best friends are heading off for a week of fun in the sun and really looking forward to it, especially after the crappy weather we've been having here all summer. It's our final hurrah so I'm sure it'll be great. Anyway, better dash, still got all of my packing to do....whoops....
Chat when I get back!

Hey everyone! Got my A-Level results on Thursday and managed to clock up 4As, yeo! Was completely delighted and most of my friends got what they wanted too so we were hitting a school disco to celebrate! We slapped on our uniforms (or shorter/tighter versions of them *looks about innocently*) for the last time and went out and boogied on down. It was so much fun, one of the best nights out ever. The music was real 90s flashback, we had Spice Girls, S Club 7, Macarena, Britney, B*Witched....lots of really random, completely awful songs with actions that you couldn't help but love!
As much fun as this was, it means I got into the University of Manchester, my 1st choice, but actually have to leave now. Completely terrified. Don't really want to go any more... so many of my friends are staying in Belfast and going to Queens...they're going to have great fun without me and I'll come back and they'll have forgotten all about me, or even worse, found a new friend to take my place so not need me any more. I'll be devestated!
*Ahem* So when I'm not having a break down, I've just been working and on the Tinternet really. Buffy Fests seem to have come to a halt since it is someone elses turn to organise the next day so naturally it hasn't been done. (Fecking boys, they're useless!) Also, spent an oddly long amount of time re-doing my Veronica Mars review cos the original was done a few years ago when I'd only seen part of season 1, so feel free to have a nosy. It's uber long! That's all for now.

Kind of temporarily abandoned tv.com there but I'm back. Not too much to report, basic summer stuff only with worse weather this year of course. I've got a job now which is good, sorting post for Royal Mail. It's a bit far away and 12 hour shifts from 6pm to 6am but it's really good money, £6.70 an hour which is about £80 each shift I work, currently planning about 3 a week so I'll be nicely minted

Also last week we had Day 3 of Buffy Fest. It was really good, best day yet I'd say, started at about 11.30am and it went on til about 3am. We had one break but that was it. There was plenty of banter and more annoyance over the huge amount of dungarees but in general good Buffy Festing, all 22 eps. We are getting pretty far behind now, cos every time it's someone else's turn to host and therefore set the date it takes them like 2 weeks to sort it out. Now we have like 3 weeks to watch 4 days grr arrgh. We better get it done before summer is over! I'm going on holidays on the 30th and when I get back I only have a day or two until I have to go off to uni and I'll have better/more important things to do than spend an entire day watching Buffy. (No, I can't believe I just said that either.)

It's been a pretty epic weekend so far. On Friday me and my friends had Day 2 of Buffy Fest (I know that Day 1 was ages ago) and it was class. We watched all of season 2 and it was a lot of fun. It got off to a dodgy start cos we were all out the night before so the 10am start time was optimistic at best. I got there 40mins late and my friend's mum had to go wake him up. When our other Fester arrived it was 11.30 and we were all still half asleep. We were worried that we would all fall drift off and the spirit of the 1st geek would come into our dreams and try to kill us in our sleep. While there was some sporadic napping, it never happened that we were all asleep at the same time so that was something

The main things that stuck out about season 2 watching it all in a row is that there are a lot of amazing episodes surrounded by some truly poor ones and that there are a ridiculous amount of dungarees worn. It pained me. We finally finished about half 3, sleepy but pleased with our accomplishment.
The sleep was not to last too long though seeing as I had plans to get up this morning and get the last Harry Potter book. Unfortunately my need to sleep an extra few hours overcame my need to read (something I'm still appalled at) but I surfaced around 1pm to discover that my wonderful mother had already got my a copy. I got stuck in and finished at 11.30 and all I'm going to say is that it's fantastic. I laughed, I cried (both happy and sad tears) and from Chapter 30 onwards the pace was so intense I literally sat with my mouth open. To fellow Harry Potter fans who may not have finished yet: you'll love it and it's a great end to 7 books and 10 years.

7Jul 07Hola everyone. Just back from a week in sunny Mallorca. It was my last 'family holiday' per se and it was alright. I got a cold on the first day which made me miserable for half the week. Plus no matter how much suncream I evenly applied I've managed to be burned in the most random places! Honestly, it's ridiculous, there'slike this circle in the middle of my stomach, a triangle on my left forearm and like stripes up and down my hand! GRR. Plus they put usin the wrong bloody hotel for the entire week, dimwits. But despite this I actually had a pleasant time. Hope everyone is well!

The Spice Girls are coming back!!!
http://www.nme.com/news/the-spice-girls/29311

I'm so happy! I was such a fan back in the day but never got to see them, now's my chance! At the moment they look set to only play 12 dates which I think is ridiculous because so many people will want to see them. London will be the closest venue for me which really isn't that close but that won't stop me. Perhaps the price of the tickets will which I'm sure will be phenomenal and as I'll then be a student and saving every 20p in my power, but I'll figure out something...I MUST figure out something...

25Jun 07I still have 2 A-levels to go. Everyone is done, it's so frustrating. People are going out the next few nights and I can't! I also can't go to the Aerosmith concert in Dublin because of these exams. I'm so melted by studying. I just can't take it any more. It's downright cruel.

21Jun 07Went to the cinema to see Ocean's 13 tonight. It was quite good. I was not sure what to expect cos I had loved the 1st movie but had not seen the 2nd but heard from a lot of people that was it wasn't great but this one was a really enjoyable watch. It was a bit slow paced for my liking but lots of clever plot points, entertaining characters and some great comedy moments made it an evening well spent. It was a bad audience though, that didn't find the funny bits funny so itonly really seemed to be me and my friend laughing which was a bit embarrassing lol. Was going to go out to Sketchy (a local club) but since I was out on Tues and will be out tomorrow night and Sat and am probably spendingmost of Sunday at a friend's house (the proposed date for day 2 of Buffy Fest) I opted for the quieter choice for once. Yay me! Cheaper also which is always a bonus

I took part in my first chat a few days ago and I was so disappointed cos it just went horribly off topic and lots of people were just talking about random things, it was rather frustrating. There were people there that actually wanted to talk about Entourage but their messages just kept getting lost among all the randomness and cos it went so fast and the screen was so small it was difficult to keep up with. I was quite annoyed cos it was one of the few chats that are suitable time wise for me as it was started at midnight here, still not ideal but I'm off on study leave so school the next morning wasn't an issue. Sigh.

14Jun 07Most of my friends have their last exam toady. This means that their A-levels and therefore their school careers are done and their summer has officially begun. I on the other hand still have 3 to go, 1 tomorrow and the others on the 26th and 27th which means about another 2 weeks of studying. They are all going out tonight while I cram for my Sociology module.
I am not amused. Not at all. It's not fair! I have the last exam in the entire school, and it's a synoptic module. It's a cruel, cruel joke. That is all.- Posted Jun 14, 2007 9:23 am PT

It's the news we were all expecting but that one damn glimmer of hope inside us all kept making us think otherwise.
At least now, the healing can begin.

On Friday we had Day 1 of Buffy Fest and it was awesome. The plan is that over the summer we are going to take 7 days and each day watch a season. Initially we were going to watch it a week straight but then we realised that we would never leave each others' houses. So maybe we are not as hardcore as we could be but we still have exams and lives that we desperately want to cling to...maybe we're medium-core...that's a healthy alternative.
Anyway Day 1 was at my house, we were supposed to start at 1 so we could go out around 10, making room for a nice little break as well but of course people we late. Then we had to talk a friend to work (we got half price pizza on the upside) but then somehow we ended up soooo behind schedule and had to save the last two episodes until we got back from the bar. It's actually quite worrying that we couldn't stay on schedule for the 12 episode season. The 22 episode seasons should be rather hilarious, it will probably be near dawn when we leave. Although the lesson we learnt from Day 1 was not to leave the house, that's definitely when it started going wrong.
But still it was good fun, even though we realised how below par a lot of the season 1 episodes were, we amused ourselves pointing out our favourite trivia, goofs, debating various aspects of the mythology of it and mocking the bad clothing and hairstyles of the 90s (Crimped hair? Seriously, what were we thinking?) It's fun being around fellow Buffy geeks...it's Whedon's universe, we're just living in it.
No dates are set yet for the next ones but I hope they will be as good, which they probably will be considering that the actual episodes are better. Long live Buffy!

Yuss! Level 30! Quite a landmark, plus it's Anchorman! One of my favourite movies! Ron Burgandy is my icon, how cool is that? So in celebration of this, I thought I would share some of my favourite quotes from the movie with you...or at least my favourite ones that are on imdb...can you tell I'm bored? heehee. Enjoy!
Brick: I'm Brick Tamland. People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks. Years later, a doctor will tell me that I have an I.Q. of 48 and am what some people call 'mentally retarded.' *puts some mayo in a toaster*
........
(To Baxter, the dog.)
Ron: You're so wise. You're like a miniature Buddha, covered in hair.
........
(Also to Baxter the dog,)
Ron: What? You pooped in the refrigerator? And you ate the whole... wheel of cheese? How'd you do that? Heck, I'm not even mad, that's amazing!
........
Champ: Champ here. I'm all about havin' fun. You know, start a fire in someone's kitchen, maybe go to SeaWorld, take my pants off...
.........
Brick: I ate fiberglass insulation. It wasn't cotton candy like the guy said... my tummy itches.
.......
Ron: I'm in a glass cage of emotion!
.......
Ron: Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina
Veronica: No, there's no way that's correct. Ron: I'm sorry, I was trying to impress you. I don't know what it means. I'll be honest, I don't think anyone knows what it means anymore. Scholars maintain that the translation was lost hundreds of years ago.
Veronica: Doesn't it mean Saint Diego?
Ron: No. No.
Veronica: No, that's - that's what it means. Really.
Ron: Agree to disagree..........
Brick: I read somewhere their periods attract bears. Bears can smell the menstruation.
Brian: Well, that's just great. You hear that, Ed? Bears. Now you're putting the whole station in jeopardy!..........
Ron: I'm gonna punch you in the ovary, that's what I'm gonna do. A straight shot. Right to the babymaker.
...........
Ron: Um, Brick, before I let you go, are you still having your celebrity golf tournament?
Brick: Um, no, no. Too many people died last year, so we're not gonna..........
Ron: Boy, that escalated quickly... I mean, that really got out of hand fast.
Champ: It jumped up a notch.
Ron: It did, didn't it?
Brick: Yeah, I stabbed a man in the heart.
Ron Burgandy: I saw that. Brick killed a guy. Did you throw a trident?
Brick: Yeah, there were horses, and a man on fire, and I killed a guy with a trident.
Ron: Brick, I've been meaning to talk to you about that. You should find yourself a safehouse or a relative close by. Lay low for a while, because you're probably wanted for murder............
Veronica: I told you that I wanted to be an anchor. I told you that.
Ron: I thought you were kidding. I thought it was a joke, I even wrote it down in my diary. 'Veronica had a very funny joke today.' I laughed at it later that night............
Brick: I love... carpet. I love... desk.
Ron: Brick, are you just looking at things in the office and saying that you love them?
Brick: I love lamp.
Ron: Do you really love the lamp, or are you just saying it because you saw it?
Brick: I LOVE LAMP!...........
Ron: Sweet Knights of Columbus that hurt!

Talk of a VM movie, well it would be better than nothing! It would probably be done with Veronica as an FBI agent but I think if the plot is good enough it would be rather decent. I know I'd go to see it. Plus it could get lots of new fans who will buy the dvds and it could be like Family Guy and get brought back.
Wishful thinking is a fine thing.

*General sobbing*
The axe has fell on Veronica Mars. Stupid, CW network. I officially hate them, they're mean! In the wake of Gilmore ending this is just so uncalled for. I mean I haven't seen the finale yet cos I'm a UK person and will watch it online but I'm saving it for myself but I know it is going to be awful to have to say the final goodbye and now Veronica as well? It's just wrong. It's like "Hello there loyal viewers, care for some salt for those deep, painful wounds of yours?"
Also, I'd like to say on behalf of UKers and I think Australians as well that I'd appreciate it if people stop correcting me on forums for spelling cancelled, cancelled! I happen to like my 2 Ls thank you all the same and it's perfectly grammatical! I know canceled is the U.S. spelling and technically also correct (however much it might bug me personally) but I resist the urge to go around correcting you despite me thinking your way is just stupid, again no offence, they are both right but it's just irritating me being corrected and seeing others being also. Just don't even start me on the whole favor, color thing, why do you hate U s so much? Why??? *ahem* sorry, really sorry, nothing wrong with it across the water I know, but I'm sure you find it annoying when we put U s into things....that are supposed to go there
God help me if I've mis-spelt anything wrong in this blog, eh? hehe.I also hope that the Gilmore people don't start "striking back" at the VM fans. If you were lucky enough to miss it, when word came out that Gilmore was going bye bye like 2 people went on Gilmore forums and said something like 'Oh I'm glad GG is gone, more chance of VM getting renewed.' Cue mass outrage. It was like a battlezone, I think there was talk of air strike on the VM forum... But there was definite 'Oh when VM gets cancelled let's go gloat on their forum' UGH! I just hate seeing fans of my two favourite shows at war like this! It's stupid and we should be mourning together!
Plus to top it all off, I've my first A2 module tomorrow and instead of revising I'm on here ranting. Great. Just great.

But now if I call out their name they won't be there on that next train, cos they're CANCELLED! *general sobbing*
I can't believe Gilmore Girls is almost over, I'm so upset! I read it last night on some websites and it's all over tv.com today, pounding it in oh so very cruelly. It's mean! I'm drowning my sorrows in ice cream and just moping about the house...the world somehow seems like a different place now.
My only hope in life is that Veronica Mars stays on. I mean with Gilmore gone (*More sobbing*) one of the CW's most popular shows, maybe it increases VM's chances if they don't want too many new shows on at once, it's too risky. VM ratings may not be great compared to others but they're pretty solid due to we, the devoted fan base, right? RIGHT?! *panics*
I read somewhere that One Tree Hill got renewed but not sure if that was 100% yet, can anyone confirm or deny? At least if I was definitely getting more of that, it would be something. No Gilmore Girls you understand, but still.
I think I'll do some sort of Gilmore themed blog tribute thing soon, like favourite moments, episodes, quotes and the like so keep a look out for that. I'm sure it will help me through the mourning process. My hearts go out to all my fellow Gilmore addicts during this difficult time.
*Goes back to sobbing*

3May 07THE STAGES OF DRUNKENESS
Stage 1 - CLEVER
This is when you suddenly become an expert on every subject in the known universe. You know you know everything and you want to pass on your knowledge to anyone who will listen. At this stage you are always right.
And, of course, the person you are talking to is very wrong. This makes for an interesting argument when both parties are CLEVER.
Stage 2 - ATTRACTIVE
This is when you realise that you are the most ATTRACTIVE person in the entire bar and that everyone fancies you. You can go up to a perfect stranger knowing that they fancy you and really want to talk to you.
Bear in mind that you are still CLEVER, so you can talk to this person about any subject under the sun.
Stage 3 - RICH
This is when you suddenly become the RICHEST person in the room. You can buy drinks for the entire bar because you have a bottomless wallet. You can also make bets at this stage because of course you are still CLEVER so, naturally, you will always win. Anyway, it doesn't matter how much you bet because you are RICH. You will also buy drinks for everyone that you fancy, in the knowledge that you are clearly the most ATTRACTIVE person present.
Stage 4 - INVINCIBLE
You are now ready to pick fights with anyone and everyone, especially those with whom you have been betting or arguing. This is because you are now INVINCIBLE. At this point you can also go up to the partners of the people who you fancy and challenge them to a battle of wits or strength. You have no fear of losing this battle, because as well as being INVINCIBLE you are CLEVER, you're RICH and you're more ATTRACTIVE than them anyway.
Stage 5 - INVISIBLE
This is the final stage of drunkenness. At this point you can do anything, because you are now INVISIBLE. You can dance on a table to impress the people who you fancy because the rest of the people in the room cannot see you. You can also snog the face off them for the same reason. You are also INVISIBLE to the people who want to fight you. You can walk through the street singing at the top of your lungs because no one can see or hear you and because you're still CLEVER you know all the words.- Posted May 3, 2007 11:23 am PT
