All About 10below

This is my blog on all things video gaming for me. I'm a diehard gamer (as in I play almost every night), but I really just play for fun so I'm not *that* kind of diehard gamer. I'll play just about any game genre out there.

I've been gaming since the early 80s, but no, I didn't have an Atari or Atari 2600. I was very jealous of my friends that did, but instead I had a used Pong. It was...how do I say...'swell'. My first real system was a PC and my Nintendo (NES) and I've been lucky enough to stay on top of a current system since then...Sega Genesis, Gameboy, PS1, PS2 and now Xbox 360.

Top Ten Games of all time for me...

10. Toe Jam & Earl (GEN)
9. Tomb Raider (PS)
8. Sonic the Hedgehog (GEN)
7. MediEvil (PS)
6. Call of Duty: World at War (Xbox 360)
5. Tetris (NES)
4. XIII (PS2)
3. Gran Turismo 2 (PS)
2. Legend of Zelda (NES)
1. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PS2)

...a little eclectic selection, but these are the ones I played and replayed and played again and again and have never ever forgotten about.

    Mine goes to 11.

    OK, actually more like 1011...

So last night, my gang was playing some Ground War, and we ended up in one of those weird private matches on Rust where the Domination game doesn't end at 200. It ended with a nuke when the score was something like 1068 to 589. We were the ones with 1068 but not the ones with the nuke.

Still though, I ended up with something like 26,000 xp from that one match.

So, I've seenother people's stories about these kinds of private matches happening in the last week or so. And I've also seen news of the Infected and STD callsigns going around - seemingly moreso now than ever. Well, our gang had gotten "Infected" a couple days ago, but in this match last night, there were people on the other team running around with both "Infected" and "STD". And seeing as the other team really wasn't trying to get the domination points, but rather just going on a killing spree...my theory is that this weird private match is not so much a glitch or error or bug, but rather, it was set up by Infinity Ward to help spread those callsigns, and they maybe were on the other team.

Just a theory...could have all been just random and whatnot.

    Snow!

Wow, we're SNOWED IN today. We got about a foot and a half of snow last night and today, and it's still coming down. According to the news, this could end up being the most snow we've gotten in the Washington DC area since the 1930's.

A perfect day for some hot coffee/hot cocoa and a little Xbox-ing. Except for the fact I keep getting distracted and watching this snow come down.

    Possibly a PS3 and MW2 thoughts.

OK, so I'm *this* close to gettting a PS3...mostly for the BluRay. I know I know. "Yeah right" you're saying "just for the BluRay".But seriously, I'm probably going to play a couple exclusives on it, but my Xbox is still my main console.

The real question is whether I'll get hooked on the PS3's trophies like I've gotten hooked on Xbox achievements. I hope not. My achievements addiction is already hard to feed.

On a separate note, I've been playing some MW2. Online multiplayer. Doing OK, but I've not been able to play for a few weekends in a row now (out of town guests and whatnot). Which means I haven't learned all the maps yet, etc. Definitely enjoy it though. Also played a round of the Spec Ops...not bad...reminds me of the star system of Mirror's Edge. And finally started on the single player campaign. So far so good. Going through my first run on Veteran. The airport levelwas unnecessary. And the one guy's American accent is definitely not American and instead annoying. (I forget who mentioned this earlier in their blog, but it IS noticeable. Good spot.)

Looking forward to the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. 4 straight days of gaming!
