Respect Where it's Due/ Game Formulas: To Change, or not to Change
Now, I want everyone to know that I appreciate all consoles, putting myself on neutral ground, but I do not have a PS3 for lack of money and time.
When Halo: Reach came out it seemed as if the crowds split two ways, the fan boy "10 of 10, cause it's Halo! duh!" and the anti fanboys, who claim "Just another overrated Halo game, played it before! 1 of 10!".

Now, I love Halo, but I think that the anti fanboys (let's call them AFs) have a point, it's ANOTHER Halo. If you've played Halo: CE, Halo 2 and Halo 3, you kinda get the idea. But the thing that we have to remember is this: it's still enjoyable. Sure, it might be getting old for some, and I respect that. Just please, Be a little more courteous with the remarks. I could rip on PS3 fanboys (FBs, not to be confused with Face Books) and how they are getting another Killzone, on top of 2 Resistance games (with a third in the works). But I won't, because I respect those games. They have gotten solid reviews and look like fun, even though they also look like more sci fi shooters. I think we should all just try to respect games that not only get great reviews all around (it's a little hard for Bungie to pay EVERY SINGLE game review site, so I don't think Gamespot got payed off) but are considered enjoyable by the consumers themselves.
Now, my take on Halo. I've been playing the series for about 6 years…so not too long. BUT it was my first actual FPS and I truly loved CE. After playing through the second and third games, I have to admit, the formula hasn't changed very much. But isn't that why we love Nintendo so much? If it ain't broke don't fix it. I love the Halo formula, and I'm happy it isn't changing too much (I actually like the return to its roots with the addition to health). Why is it we complain about Halo, whereas Call of Duty and God of War have continued to recycle their games as well and we don't seem to give a crap about it (ok, we do give CoD a lot of crap...but they still sell like crazy and have a loyal fanbase)? It's because those are games that are worthy of respect (yes, even CoD. It's been around since 2003 and still selling like hot-cakes). Why are they worthy of respect? it's because of what they have done for their respective game genres. Think about it. How many games have been called God of War rip offs? How many blockbuster Military shooters out there seem to feel just like Call of Duty? What about the sci fi shooter genre? Who do we really have to thank for the great games this generation? Sure, Id started the whole M rated shooter thing with Doom. But just like the Beatles, they founded the genre and it's those that follow after that we have to thank for where the direction is going now. Whether you like that direction or not, it deserves some respect, don't you think?
