    Gamespot's new look...

Speaking of Gamespot, how come I only got the Sony E3 08 conference emblem when I watched all three whilst logged in?

    Halo 3 Legendary Map Pack

I've spent the past few days trying the new maps, here are my impressions.

Blackout - Well it's Lockout, not much more that needs to be said . It's a pretty good level, works well in team games but to be honest I preferred the blue, metal look that it had in Halo 2 more than this new "oil rig" design. The background looks nicer than the blue mist in Halo 2 though.

Avalanche - I like the fact that it has a lot of vehicles on it. From memory you get (in matchmaking) two warthogs, a wraith, a hornet () a ghost, and either one or two Mongoose. I'm a little disappointed in the size of it though, I was expecting it to be similar to Sidewinder but it feels much smaller. That said it is a fun map to play on in a variety of game types. It seems a little easy to get pinned down in a base though so working together is important. Even King of the hill is tolerable on this map and I hate KOTH games in Halo so it must be a really good map!

Ghost Town - Only had one game on this so far. It doesn't seem to come up very often in matchmaking so to try it out its probably best that you play custom games, most of my XBL friends are in America though so due to the time difference I haven't been able to have a good go on this map yet. From the game I did play though it seems really good. It definitely stands out from the other Halo maps, seems almost Call of Duty inspired. It appears really large at first though after looking at it in forge mode it's not so big. I like it.

Overall it's a pretty good map pack I'd say. I like it better than the Heroic map pack. Doing a map for map comparison I liked Standoff which was a big, open map but Avalanche is even better, I liked Foundry but Lockout is better, lastly I didn't really care for Rat's Nest so Ghost Town wins by default. I would seriously recommend this to anyone that is still on the fence. Also with no new map pack on the horizon it will be a while before this one is free, if ever if Bungie is to be believed so might as well get it while it's fresh.

While I'm on the subject of Halo 3, Team SWAT will become a fulltime playlist in May However the Legendary map pack will be required.

    Halo 3 Double EXP weekend

So Bungie has brought back the Living Dead playlists for a Double EXP weekend...

....and unfortunately the cheaters are worse than ever. Worse still is that Bungie hasn't fixed some flaws present in the level that caused these cheaters to be able to hide from the "zombies" back in October.

So basically if you aren't able to stop them from getting into their hiding place in time, then once everyone is infected you're expected to sit and wait until the end of the round
