Like a kid who feels bad for the toys he never plays with, I am getting a little bit of Wii guilt. I often try to inject new life into it but I haven't been able to get whole-heartedly into it since No More Heroes. I recently bought Muramasa: The Demon Blade and I can appreciate what a great game it is but I have a feeling it will end up with Trauma Centre, A Boy and His Blob and Deadly Creatures in the 'fun for a while' pile.
Really this isn't a bad thing. In terms of cold value I have got more from them in the hours/pound category than any DVD and for the most part enjoyed them. It's just that if I haven't got to the end of the game then I kind of feel that I shouldn't have bought it. Achievements have added an extra layer of angst to the issue. I should probably just man up and stop complaining about something so trivial. Let's take a tangent.
It seems like I will be going to a fair few gigs/concerts this Spring. The benefit of working with people who are really into their music means I don't have to make any effort to find decent concerts to go to as they do it all for me like a sort of entertainment PA. Ever heard of John Mclaughlin, The Besnard Lakes or Gil Scott-Heron? No me neither but I am going to see them anyway. Dinner out, a few pints and a concert makes me one happy beast. I am still waiting to see who will be play at the Liverpool Summer Pops apart from the usual Deacon Blue and Simply Red that threaten to make the big stage every year. One year it was James Brown. He died soon after. I don't think there was a connection.
It's certainly good to enrich your life with activities and such. I went to see The Crazies last night and even though that film is no Oscar contender it's nice to think that this week I have done something other than sit at home gawping at the TV. I have a friend that keeps every ticket stub from every gig, film, flight or whatever and pins them on a board in his hallway. That way every time he comes home and thinks how crap work was that day then he can look at the board and see what his hard work has paid for. I still have my Metallica ticket stubs somewhere. Now that was a concert.
