So I have been watching the Olympics, not just because I am boarded out of my mind, but for some foolish national pride reason I guess. I mean, I feel like I am supposed to watch and care. The thought of national pride is funny, real funny. Especially when you look at China. They are so fake - yes this is coming from an American. Now, I don't mean California or New York fake, but I mean fake, fake. Wha? Yeas they are a nation that most of its national treasures are fake, built or re-built in the 20th century. Last time I was there (yes I was there) most of the people were clueless to their own history, and they have been feed so much BS they believed it (like Roger Clemens). I remember a news article that ran in the English paper over there that said that the Chinese were able to smoke cigarettes and not get cancer, due to there superior genetics - guess who make the cigarettes and runs the papers - that's right the government. That country is so full of it's self it should be an Olympic sport of its own. Just sit back and watch. We could track flag sales in a 1 week period, we could put all the hopes of a nation on the shoulders of one individual and only watch to see if he/she fails, we could compare corrupt political systems, and we could have the news agencies from around the glob judge the competition. That would be funny, for they themselves are just as self bloated loving and corrupt as any nation's political machine. We could even track the competition like a Sid Myer Civ. game. The first to reach the moon, or the first to build a wall, or whatever. Still, I think the US would win, and no, it's not because I am an American. It's because I am from Texas, and in Texas we have a secret weapon. Rednecks. I should know, I married one. They have this whole national pride thing so instilled in their blood it's funny. Don't believe me? Next time you see a redneck burn a flag. If you live, I may change my mind, but I doubt you will. But I digress.

    Stuff like this kills me.

    http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/16316628/detail.html

It was not the game. It was the kid. If the arguement is the game gave him the idea, and the desire to imitate the fatalities, well that would be a foolish defence. If that was the case, then the bible would have to be outlawed and every religion would have to dimatteled, and forgoten, as well.

Stop looking for outside reason, and start looking at the root cause - terible parrents.

So CBS is buying Gamespot, but funny how it's not even in the gamespot news - no you have to get it second hand from some dumb blog...

    The following is from G4:

CBS, the people who brought you Murder, She Wrote and other entertainment products, announced this morning that they have purchased CNET Networks, home of GameSpot.com, TV.com, mp3.com and other web workhorses.

CBS will make a offer for all issued and outstanding shares of CNET Networks for $11.50 per share, representing ($1.8 billion). The acquisition will make CBS one of the 10 most popular Internet companies in the United States, with a combined 54 million unique users per month, and approximately 200 million users worldwide.

CBS now owns: CNET, ZDNet, GameSpot.com, TV.com, mp3.com, CNET news.com, UrbanBaby, CHOW, Search.com, BNET, MySimon and TechRepublic.

"There are very few opportunities to acquire a profitable, growing, well-managed Internet company like CNET Networks," said Les Moonves in a statement. "CBS stands for premium content and unparalleled reach, and CNET Networks will add a tremendous platform to extend our complementary entertainment, news, sports, music and information content to a whole new global audience."

So Ironman the movie comes out, and is great - super flipping fantastic, even. And like most movies the machine behind them pumps out a half assed game. You know it will suck, I know it will suck, but there is this hope that it will be good, and after seeing the movie the promice of flying arround and blowing stuff up, well it seams lke a great idea. So I go and check the review, and alas, there is none. Why? Is this intentinal? Still playing GTA4 - if so get an intern to review it. Are we just slow? Did bob not work this week, and we are a little behind? Even if they didn't get an advance copy, crap like this would only take a day to play, solve, and review. It just kills me to think of all the parents that get roped into buying this turd of a game, based soly on the premice of the film, and why, well thats because the site we count on for reviews just can't seam to review the games on time..... again.

    Open letter to Bungie.

Well I have forked over the extra 20 for 6 new maps over the past few months... Well, so far not too bad. Lockout is the only map that just doesn't work for me, but it seams to be a popular map. Sidewinder is great dumb fun, and is the best map out of all six - the large capture the flag a neutral assault games are just nutty. All the rest are OK, nothing to be amazed about, but good none the less. But I digress...

Look what I want, and I believe that many other want as well, is all the maps from Halo 1 and 2 - even the extra content maps. No need to rework everything, that's what forge is for - right? The way I see it is that Halo 3 is one of the best games ever made, but I want it to be the best it can be, I hate it when games are broken, or missing that one thing that could push them over the edge. And I believe that "more" is the thing you need. More maps, more guns, more vehicles, more armor, more of just everything. Hell put out a lost levels pack with some of the lost single player maps - it's not all about the multiplayer (close but not all). Some of the best maps from Halo 2 are still MIA - yes, I know that this is not Halo 2, but there are so many maps and areas that could provide this game with a much deeper and richer experience than we currently have. Guns and vehicles - yes the warthog is good, but wouldn't it be fun to have a few more vehicle types? Or even the ability to put the elephant on Valhalla or Sidewinder? There is still much more that can be done with this title - my only hope is that you act quickly, before you are yesterday's news all together.

Anyone else hate to see a good game root in it's own hype?

HB 1423 - your tax dollars not working for you, but against your freedom. Freedom, well if you think we still have freedom, I guess your dumb. The thing I hate is that this comes up every election year and this one day will pass. So You being the age of 17 will be able to read a horror novel that is violent and twisted in your own imagination, or rent a dvd of you most graphic and violent movies, but a game - oh hell to the no. So lets hope HB 1423 goes to hell, goes to hell and dies.

I love me some Ace Combat. I bought it on the 360, the one with the super nutty flight stick. Cause let's face it, the flight sticks make the game. Each month they release "new" planes for down load. I say "new" because they are the same planes that came with the game, just a new paint job and slightly differnt flight mechanics (i.e.e spedd, etc.) This would be cool, but they charge for each one. So I bought a game for $150.00 and if I was to get all the planes out now, I would be well over $200.00. This just kills me. I have no problem buying new planes - IF THEY WERE NEW. Give me a new plane that is new to the game. Stop milking the public. Damn this just kills me.

So I see that C-net is canning 150 team members. Wow. Makes you think. Was the whole mass mutney, and Jeff canning a look at things to come, or is this just a big co-wink-y-dink? My guess is that they are just one big bloated messed up company that has lost focus over the years. C-net, it's self used to be a great site for tech news and reviews, but they have lost their grip on the market share. The whole Jeff happy fun time b s hurt their video game site, no doubt, and mp3 dot com? doubt it's subcription base is busting out... Man, wonder how long this will last...

Is it me or are the reviews for this site getting slower and slower. They seam, to me, to be lagging about a week or two behind the release of the game, this would make the review counter productive, as most consumers want to use the reviews to help make an educated buying decision. When they lag a week or two behind, the site looses it's usefullness.

So, I decided to play a little GWAR2 the other night, and while sitting in the waiting room, for if you have played this game you know that it was you do for the first hour or so until you find a good group to tag along with. While sitting at this menu you get bored and one starts looking at everyone's gamer tag, scores, and bios: and low and behold there were 2 people in the room with a gamer score above 55,000. That's right 55,000. I mean mine is at 14,000. I buy a new game about once a month, and I play them pretty much straight through, but 55,000. So I started thinking, why? I mean are you that much of a gamer that you have to find every Easter egg, and every widget in the game? Or is this a man size issue? Or, are you that much of a gamer that you play everything - and I mean everything, there was so much crap games and what not, I was like this guy can't be for real. I had heard of these idiots out there who is nothing but achievement whores, who only play the game until they get the score then poof, there gone. I had just never met one. And all this time I was proud of my 14,000; as you see, I got my 360 the first week it was out. Been playing it strong since then (well this is my 4th - RroD issues), but 55,000. Man, I sure hope that helps you get a job latter in life...

I am sick of the whole violence in games political garbage. It makes me ill. The absolute stupidity of the argument and the fact that a blind eye is turned to the real problem is what makes this topic so painful to discuss. The solution is simple, yet so obvious that it is often overlooked. Step one; parents must take an active part in the lives of their children. They must pay attention to the games that they are playing, and share the experience with them to help them understand what is going on. Much like a father will show up to and watch his son's baseball game, help him understand the game, and how to play. This means that the current or a different rating system needs to be in place. Not as an agent of change, but rather just to inform and educate the consumer as to what the product he/she is purchasing entails. This will aid in the parents decision as to what games they want their children to play. Next step is to not allow or permit the child to have the game systems in their rooms, but rather limit the videogame play area to a game room, or living room, so activity can be monitored. One of my biggest gripes about X-box live is that kids are cursing, swearing, ranting on with hate speech, and communicating at a 1st grade level: all due to the fact that they are not being monitored, or watched, and that they have not been told what they should or should not say. There is no repercussion for calling someone a #^&ing @#(tard mother *&@^%ing goat &^@%ing #%@^ drip. None. Say what you want kiddo, cause mommy and daddy just don't care. The next step is that games must continue to be made for everyone. Games should be made for adults, with adult themes. Games should be made for kids, with kid activities, and educational support, Games should be made for teens, etc. The point is that the consumer must be allowed to make an educated decision about what they want to play. People like Thompson are just mad for not looking to solve the problem by pointing out that most of this could be stopped if we took an active part in the kid's lives. Parents will be coaches, and go to games, and yell if their kid is hit by a pitch, but they won't do the same when they are sitting at home playing a videogame. Thompson has spent his career going after the wrong people. Take for example, my 1st grade teacher, who thought me how to read. I have never thought of suing her and making her stop being a teacher, for I read some dirty words. That is his basic argument. How absurd. Let's sue the gun makers, or the game makers, but let's not look at the real problem. Spineless. All of them. Funny thing is that most put stock in or use religion as a tool to aid in their quest to ban violent games. This just kills me, for the bible is one of the most violent and troubling books ever sold. And most, most, which follow its teachings don't go off and kill or commit violent acts because the bible said so. The argument that if I see an act of violence committed, that I will want to mimic said act is just baseless, and unfounded. The real problem lies in the hands of the parents look, but just don't pay attention...

So here it is: pay attention to what they play, take an active part, explain, teach, educate, and monitor. Don't just let them have it because they want it.

WOW!!! Such spin. I hope the truth comes out, for I know not what to believe. But, if reviews are for sale - I want a re-imbursment for all the games I bought based on the reviews from this site. Class action, baby: class action.

I mean the whole purpose of this site is to inform and educate the consumer before a purchase is made, and to objectify and add value to said purchase after it is made. I have been a avid reader of EGM for years, and Shoe always states every few months that his reviews are without bias. I believe him. He has made no such moves or taken no such actions for me to think otherwise. Changing reviews, pulling reviews, after adds are pulled? makes you wonder - and hell, I do not know all the facks. I just hope reviews are not for sale.
