I went horseback riding today and it was so freakin' awesome
This summer, I've been watching a lot of Western films. So after seeing so many films in this genre, I decided that I must ride a horse. I went today with my dad horseback riding and it was definitely the highlight of my summer. When I arrived at the place, I requested a nice big horse that will start to gallop when I order it to. The lady who owned the horses brought out this beautiful black and white Mustang called Duke and we (me, my dad and a guide) immediately took off into the woods and followed this trail. Riding a horse is such a unique feeling. I can't describe it or compare the feeling to anything else. After I got on the horse nothing seemed to matter; all I wanted to do was ride. We went through this thick forest, and went through mud, grass, and some water. There was no sign of modern life - you couldn't see any houses, roads or cars. The only thing that surrounded us were trees, bushes, lakes and hills. After we came to a nice stretch of land, we started galloping and that was probably the best part of the whole ride. Going at least 25 KM on the back of this huge beast is one of the most amazing experiences ever. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera phone on me, so I couldn't take a picture of it but the horse I rode looked something like this (although it had less black):

The next time I go back there, I'll be sure to take some real pictures. I'd love to go back in the fall when all the trees are changing colors.
So that's what I did today. The rest of my summer hasn't been that exciting. I work almost everyday. I've seen a lot of movies, both new and old. Most of the old movies which I've been watching have been Westerns. My favourites of this genre include: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, Once Upon a Time in the West, Unforgiven, High Noon, Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, Pale Rider, The Outlaw Josey Wales and, to a lesser extent, Shane.
I've also been buying a lot of DVDs. I finally picked up a copy of the Indiana Jones Trilogy which I've been trying to hold off for a long time, since I already own these films on VHS, but in the end I couldn't help myself. I feel kind of stupid buying the same movie twice but the DVDs are worth it. The picture quality is most excellent.
I also read the new Harry Potter book which I really liked. The worst part about reading these books is that you have to wait two more years before you can read the next one to find out what happens next. Book 6 really left you wanting to read Book 7 so I'll be waiting for that one from now on.
What else...ah, yes. I plan on purchasing an Xbox 360. I'm looking forward to playing Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Kameo and Perfect Dark Zero. I'm going to buy myself a widescreen LCD HDTV and since my birthday is around the same time as the Xbox 360 launch, I'll use whatever money I get for my birthday to buy the system and games. On a related note, why are HDTVs so bloody expensive? I mean a 23 inch LCD HDTV costs around 1500 bucks. I hope the prices will go down during the next couple of months.
That's pretty much all I've got to say right now. For those who read all this, thanks.

I just finished reading the Fellowship of the Ring

What a fantastic book. I'm a huge fan of the LOTR movies and I was surprised to see just how many changes were made for the film version of FOTR. I started reading The Two Towers just now but I have no idea when I'll get to finish it. I'm beginning to get a lot of homework and when I read, I like to read for many hours. I hate it when I can only read two pages a day but I guess I have no choice. Soo considering that TTT is like 500 pages, hopefully I'll be done by this summer.
If any of you punks didn't read the books or did not even bother to see any of the movies, do so now.- Posted Apr 14, 2005 4:32 am PT
