Give it a try for multi-player fun.

User Rating: 8 | Urban Reign PS2
Truly this game deserved a better score. It is certain that the game does not provide a solid 1-player experience whatsoever, the critics are right when they say the story line is lame and the CPU difficulty begins to blatantly cheat toward the end of the game..but if you can get 1-3 friends to come play it changes the game entirely.

Urban Reign boasts a significant amount of multiplayer options, stemming from tag team fights to free for all ass kicking. If you can get several players involved, it is simple enough to fill in the other members with computer played characters at medium difficulty.

One of the advantages to the multiplayer functionality (besides the fact its awesome to beat the hell out of a friend mercilessly) is the tag team moves that each combination of characters has. The tag team special moves look very cool as both characters interact with some sort of martial arts tactic that generally sends one of the two flying head first into your opponent.

The game definately draws from its big brother, Tekken, and that to me is a good thing. Much of the fighting style and diversity is in tact from the Tekken fighting series, but the button configurations and combos have been dumbed down a bit so it is easier to pull off destructive moves and throws and only takes a few minutes to learn.

Overall I think the game is at least worth a rental, I find it to be fun to this day to just pop it in the Playstation and begin beating each other up mindlessly.
