It's not perfect, but it manages to recapture the original magic of UT99 with graphics and physics from the 21st century

I'm going to keep this (relatively) short and sweet, unlike most of my reviews.

The Unreal Tournament games have always been very fast-paced, bloody, vulgar, arcade-like shooters. I think they are the best in the business at getting your blood pumping, and giving you an injection of adrenaline while you sit on your butt playing.

I have been playing the original Unreal Tournament since it was released (dating myself a bit). It was incredibly addictive, and IMO, one of the most fun multiplayer shooters of all time. That's what the Unreal Tournament series should be about. FUN.. adrenaline, quick reflexes, lush graphics, great physics, vibrant colors. All of those things come back in full force with UT3. I know a lot of people loved UT2003 and 2004.. I wasn't really one of them. Don't get me wrong, they were good games, but they just didn't feel like UT to me.

When I sat down and started playing UT3, I literally felt like I was playing the original game all over again, but in a very good way. The music, some of the maps, the feel of the guns, the fast framerate, it's all there. It feels like they transplanted the soul of UT99 into a much newer game with a modern game engine. That's what I was looking for with UT3, and that's what I got!

Some of the game modes are different, and maybe not quite as good. However, the game still has team deathmatch and CTF, which are my 2 favorite modes. When I set up my map cycle for CTF and saw Coret as one of the options, I was in love.

Call me nostalgic, but that's what really sells me about UT3. It's like a Nissan 350z.. It looks 21st century, it has all the modern amenities.. but you can still tell it's a Z just by looking. It even sounds right. UT3 does the same thing in the video game world.. recaptures the magic of the original with a modern flare.
