Unreal II: The Awakening User Review
I have lost all faith in the Unreal franchise. At least there are still the Tournaments and Championships.

What happened? The first Unreal game was completely awesome. This game, however, took a step backwards and is actually less than the first Unreal.
First off the gameplay is just what you'd expect from an Unreal game: semi-relentless action, large levels, good storyline. Somehow, theres unrelentless action, large levels, semi-good storyline. The action is ok, but is spaced out enough to where your left wondering and knowing where the next enemy is coming from. It has little and nothing to do with the first Unreal. The only thing the same is the Skaarj. The rest I have never seen before. I dont even know if the Nali are in here or not.
The graphics are something to truly laugh at. From a certain point the Skaarj look like those black and white movie monsters made from clay. You know what I mean? Those dinosaurs that move an inch every frame. The Others look like that all the time. But the Skaarj up close seem to have had more attention paid to them. Maybe not, even up close as the Skaarj are jumping around and shooting you, you can tell theyre not graphically superior. Some of the levels are huge, which is good and bad. You'll want to go exploring, but theres nothing there. Its also bad. Just bad. Thats the only word I can think of.
The sound is... its there. Thats about the only thing you need to know. Even if the voice acting gets ahead of the captions. Even the voice acting is terrible at times.
Once Im done with this game, I might take it back in. I got it preplayed and it was probably owned several times before me. But Im a true fan of the Unreal series, regardless of how bad this one is. I might keep it around. Im actually surprised that this game takes so long to complete. Its rare nowadays to find a game this long.

- Some fun on Unreal Tournament 2000 for PC. Look near the top to see how awesome I am :). I wonder... is there anything higher than godlike? I'll have to set frags up high and see.Posted Oct 26, 2007
