Well in my school we have a breakdown like this:

alot of country kids, we live in a hick farm town of sorts. But we're a northern state damnit!

Hardcore kids - yeah they are annoying sometimes.

Random crappers - stick everything else in here

Indie kids - yeah theres a decent amount, i think i fall into this category.

Metal heads - maybe more annoying then the hardcore kids.

Classic Rockers - most of the time Classic rock listeners are nerds in my school, idk why, i ahve nohing against classic rock it just appears that way from my perspective.

EDIT: how can i forget the rap/hip hop fans: always sticking up for terrible nmusic, wishing they were black, and telling me theres a difference between the two (rap and hip hop)

There is :l
Hip-Hop is more dancable-the annoying stuff you hear on MTV, and Rap is more about the lyrics. Rap can be hip-hop but not all Hip-hop is rap. (and yeah, I'm a rap fan)

I won't list mine since its pretty much the same. With the exception that 95% of the metalheads are nerds in the anime club, and all the scene kids are "popular" (being in an affluent Jewish neighborhood, we have a lot of those types.)

I've not met too many "indie kids" and the ones I've met all are gay.

As for me, I don't really know how to define myself. I've been such a musical omnivore lately, I can't pick a single genre. Broadly, I'd say Alt/Electronic listener, so pretty much an Indie kid.

Well I'll tell you guys a secret..........I'm black and probably some other races, but I could pass for white and I go to an all black school and everybody listens to rap. I'm like the only person who listens to rock aside from a few friends who listen to Panic at the Disco!, All-American Rejects, you know mainstream stuff but I don't really care, I think there are some people here who listen to other stuff like Nirvana and John Mayer (surprisingly).

I never would of guessed. Even the fact that you live in New Orleans didn't tip me off haha.

I have a bit of a secret (well not really) like that which would probably blow your minds.

Got a lot of bros and posers at my school that like mainstream rap/hip-hop.  But we got a huge range of different genres people like, and no genre seems to stand out the most.  Although alot of people at my school like the bands Pepper and Slightly Stoopid.  Dunno why.

Pretty much all my friends listen to the same stuff as I do (with few exceptions) which is metal. I try to stay away from people who have poor taste in music

okay so heres the test i give people. I got 2 "rap/hip hop" fans and asked them an artist and said "rapper, or hip hop artist" every time they answered opposite from eachother, my study is complete.

And my school actually has a decent amount of indie kids which i am grateful for.

But i am kinda in between as well to be honest i have a variety of tastes.

Well, when I learn to play guitar, I'll certainly have a blog, since its a bigger deal then you can imagine. All we be revealed.

Although, to be honest, its really not that big a deal.

Well in my school we have a breakdown like this:

alot of country kids, we live in a hick farm town of sorts. But we're a northern state damnit! - That is horrible.

Hardcore kids - yeah they are annoying sometimes. - I don't know what this is considered...

Random crappers - stick everything else in here - ????

Indie kids - yeah theres a decent amount, i think i fall into this category. - Its good, I like Inerpol.

Metal heads - maybe more annoying then the hardcore kids. - Yea, I'm a Metal Head... and I don't see how I'm annoying... Whats annoying... is people sterotyping like you.

Classic Rockers - most of the time Classic rock listeners are nerds in my school, idk why, i ahve nohing against classic rock it just appears that way from my perspective. - You go to a weird school or your just close minded... I love Classic rock, and so do my friends, and believe me, we're far apart from the nerd part... because its the best kind of music... today's music is horrible.

EDIT: how can i forget the rap/hip hop fans: always sticking up for terrible nmusic, wishing they were black, and telling me theres a difference between the two (rap and hip hop) - Yea, your right.

Anything in the charts, and now our whole area is flooded by a new genre of music called MC. Absolutely terrible. Talentless rappers get on the microphone, rapping literally twice as fast as your average rapper, backed by hurrendous hardcore dance beats.

And don't judge rap from what you hear on the radio. There are a lot of talent, but the real hip-hop tends to be underground. I'm sure if you search deeper into the genre, you will find some rap artist you like. Wu-Tang Clan, Black Star, A Tribe Called Quest, The Roots... take your pick.

I like the Roots alot because they make they're own music, instead of pushing a button to make beats. And as for Rage Against the Machine... they're considered Rap Metal, or Funk Metal. Theres other bands like that too like the Bloodhound Gang, Beastie Boys, Some Chili Peppers songs.

rage is a mix of alot of things, funk/rap/rock/punk/metal, its too hard to classify them.

I hate hate hate the Beastie Boys their songs suck instrumentally compared to RATM's. RHCP is good sometimes.
