So what are everyone's thoughts on what has or hasn't been included in the upcoming HD Silent Hill Collection(which at this point is reported to contain SH 2 and 3)?

How essential is the quality of extras(i.e. interviews, artwork)? What is the importance of there being a PC version alongside the PS3/360 release?

edit: Here is a recent Destructoid article discussing the omission of SH4

It would be good if SH1 came as a free download or extra with the collection Personally I would like lots of extras. SH2 should be the directors cut, unlike in the PS2 European collection Konami released. Hopefully it would also have the extra making off and other stuff that came with the original European release.

I wish they would put SH4 with the collection too, it's still part of the series and it has grown on many people. It's a big conspiracy. They are trying to hide the fact that Murphy Pendelton looks alot like Henry Townshend.

The omission of SH4 did strike me as strange. Even if it wasn't originally planned as a SH title, it's still part of the series. Why call it a collection if it's not even complete? Now the original SH? I can understand it not being on there. I don't know how you do an HD version of it without doing a remake.

I have the first 4 SH games on disc already so I don't know if I would buy this when I get a PS3.

Speaking of bonus content like artwork and stuff, I think that HD collections should have this sort of thing so those who already have said games on collection would have more of an incentive to buy it. Just slapping the games in HD on a Blu-Ray disc and adding Trophy support isn't enough for me to buy the same games again, especially since I spent quite a bit of time tracking down complete mint copies of the SH games on the cheap a few years back.

I think more games in general should include interviews and artwork. That's one reason I was really impressed with God of War. All you had to do was beat the game to unlock this stuff (more stuff was unlocked after beating the highest difficulty section). No need to buy the uber ultra limited pre-order only collector's edition to see it.

I'm guessing that the value of SH4 is going to increase in the collector's market due to it's omission.

Speaking of Konami and HD collections...why does the MGS HD Collection not have the the first MGS? They could have just used the Twin Snakes version which is the original game with MGS2 graphics. Course I won't be buying this either since I have the games already (except for Peace Walker). And I bought the MGS Essential Collection when it came out. Plus I have two copies of MGS3 and I don't need a third one.

Now ZOE HD Collection? I'll bite since I don't have the games and the mint copies fetch quite a bit online.

Basically, you know it's an Atlus game if in your first encounter in a new area, you get ambushed by a group of enemies who go first and eliminate your entire party before you get your first turn. If Atlus were as famous as Nintendo, this trope would probably be called "Atlus Hard" instead.

eBay evaluations : "will buy again, A+++++++++" is the minimum expected if the seller didn't abduct your family and mail them back to you one piece at a time.

@Manda - That's actually a good point about the director's cut of SH2, hopefully Konami doesn't drop the ball with that.

And you know what? I'll put on my Robbie shaped tinfoil hat and join you with that Henry/Murphy look alike conspiracy.. if it ever gains steam I'll make sure it's known that it was brought here first by you, lol.

@BSte - I will not even bother pretending that I won't still pickup the SH collection even if there were subpar special features in the end despite already owning mint copies of the originals. My SH whoredom aside though, I do agree that a decent effort towards padding the incentive to repurchase these games beyond the HD & trophies/achievements is necessary to reel in gamers who are on the fence. If Konami is going to cut out SH4, they better have something in place to fill that gap. (Collector quality packaging wouldn't hurt either)

Also, I agree about Twin Snakes being a good candidate to be included in the MGS Collection.. but I think the redux may have rubbed enough MGS purists the wrong way to make Konami shy away from that route. And yeah.. I'm not always a fan of having yet another series where I have 2-3-4 versions of the same game either, but I must admit that I am intrigued by the online features of MGS3 alongside Peace Walker being active with the new collection(something that wasn't the case with the Essential Collection).

I'm short of words about this collection ( literally lo/ idk how to write most of what I feel)

I remember few weeks ago someone in the unofficial facebook of Silent hill revelation wrote something like "would be nice to have a HD remake of the first games"  and yeah there must be a lot of letters, forums and websites speaking about the same who knows for how much time ! but then is here... Is real... I gotta say Silent hill 3 is my favorite game so this is touching.

I wonder, how it will look now, the control, new areas, special weapons and stuff like that... This got me all excited ! and I didn't play the second one, my friend did it so I know almost 0 about it... But there's no better moment to start discovering is't ?

About the first one, well... That needs to be completely remake so I understand( but still...) and as for the 4 ... Why not? the more, the better!  but I guess they thought that there's no extra $ because true fans will buy it with or w/o the fourth and the first.

And this is all about just the games inside, who knows what kind of things will come together will the games, posters, soundtrack, art book... God bless Silent Hill!  and yeah, that was a joke lo/

____

That was large to be short hehe

I dont know. I kinda cant feel sorry for SH4 being left out of the HD Collection. Its not a bad game, but it isnt good either...If I would have to choose, I would have put SH Origins in the Collection, but thats just IMHO.

With the new Robbie videos out I hope there's going to be a DVD Art Collection this time around ... I have to jump on it this time because they'll sell fast.

2 games out of 4 is really not much of a collection, still, I'll be picking them up. It's almost hard to get too excited about any of this since its just a marketing thing but I do love Silent Hill so...

This is more of a 'set' than a collection, but it might mean there's a lot more to it than just the games. Sadly the Japanese got a really slick Ico bundle coming out and everywhere else just gets the games. Konami's been known to give more to their home country as well ... here's hoping that's not the case with SH.

Maybe with enough stink Konami will release SH4 later.

gotta be frank, is too late for that.

But I would like to play origins in HD, that's quite possible is't? hmmm now that I think about it, is very possible together with SH4 in the future. Then again, these last one aren't as famous as the second and third were

The PS3 exclusivity definitely caught me by surprise.. and the adding of "all new voice acting" has just sent up red flags galore.

Hardly a "collection". Even if they stuck SH1 on there as a straight port it would be alright. As for 4's omission, that's just weird. It's not like there isn't enough room for it (pun intended) on the disc. But there's new voice acting? I might give it a miss...

It sounds strange, but could they just be 'refreshing' the voice acting? They're bringing in old talent to do it. Was the original recording that bad?

I just pictured them bringing in "celebrities" (using the term loosely) to do the new voices.
