February 1st, 2013. Smackdown Results!
Line of the night: "Dr. Emmet Brown and his flux capacitor are more qualified to look at these guys brains than Dr. Shelby." - JBL
Alrighty! so! First things first, Jack Swagger is back. For those who don't know he made his return at this edition of Smackdown in the opening segment between the possible Elimination Chamber participants- Should be interesting to see who gets in the match!
Match 1- Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara Defeated Team Hell No
And what a match it was! Seriously, I understand Rey and Sin cara aren't among this unions favorite wrestlers but give them their do when its earned and what a match this was! We had a little bit of everything, exciting, fast paced high flying from the luchadors. Rey Mysterio and Daniel Bryan exchanging some both technical wrestling and a few cruiserweight style moves. And Kane played his role as the big man greatly as well. Really loved this opening match!
Match 2- The Great Khali Defeated Jinder Mahal-
This match was too short to really get into it, however it looks like Khali will be the next entrant into the Elimination Chamber. While my feelings on that were that I wish someone like Kofi or Gabriel could be added instead, I understand as Khali is over in India and is a former World Heavyweight Champion.
Match 3- Sheamus vs Damien Sandow went to a No Contest-
This was a pretty solid match between these two, Damien played the role of the cowardly heel and Sheamus played his usual offense. This is another match that didn't get a whole lot of time because of The Shield interference but in the time it did get it was still a solid match.
Match 4- Randy Orton Defeated Wade Barrett
This went less than 5 minutes which is shocking. There really wasn't much to it at all besides Wade hitting the Bull Hammer on the post and hurting himself. A solid exchange but shorter, and I think the point was to put Orton in the Elimination Chamber.
Match 5- Jack Swagger Defeated Kofi Kingston
This was a great back and worth match, both guys got their offense in and Swagger looked really dominant. This is a much more aggressive, vicious, and focused re-energized Swagger we're seeing and he's all the more likely to do more because of it. He should make a good entry into the chamber!
Match 6- Alberto Del Rio Defeated Dolph Ziggler-
What a great main event from two really talented ring guys, it was quick, very intense and it seemed like both guys were really finding some ring chemistry. Both we're evenly matched in the beginning though Alberto took control after a slip up from Ziggler to lock in his cross arm breaker for the win.
