The plot for Undertow is simple and direct. A race of aquatic aliens (when is it not aliens?) known as the Elect launches an attack on the earths polar ice caps. This attack melts the ice caps and floods most of the planet and thus the human race is decimated in the destruction. What remains of the humans band together to reclaim the planet back from the alien race. They are now called the Iron Marines. They are an elite group of underwater divers who are going to deal with the Elect. Not only do the humans have the Elect as a threat is also turns out that the city of Atlantis was located at the earths ice caps and now that they are free they want to rule the planet they once called home (how did they stay alive that long?).
As you know by know the gameplay for Undertow is underwater fights to the death....(well your not going to fight to the life now are you). There are 15 campaign levels for single-player or co-op. and two multiplayer modes for up to 16 players.
Players can select from four differant races. The Iron Marine, Nemoidian, Atlantean, or the Elect (what a strange name for a race). Each of the four races features four unique, upgradeable unit types. These range from the fast and agile to the large and powerful. As the battle plays on the players have the ability to unlock and purchase unit upgrades as they acquire points. With each unit type having three levels of permanent upgrades.
The way that the players gain these points is through conquest-style battles, by killing enemies, accomplishing team goals, and capturing check points. These points and a variety of power-ups can be used to further upgrade unit abilities.
Undertow first came out in November 21, 2007 for the 360 live arcade.
Its not the perfect game its not the best game in the world either but then its not all that bad either. It may take some getting use to and many will hate it for many reason....Me...I am in the middle...My mind is in a way torn....So if you want to give it a try then i am not going to stop you i am only here as a guide.
