proprietary memory card.....boooooo! Everything else......Yeeeeeaaaaaaa!!!

It's disappointing the NGP won't have onboard Flash memory like the PSP Go, but perhaps it was left out to help keep costs down. The new proprietary cards will have to offer a LOT more storage than the Memory Stick Pro's. I would expect the max 32 gig Memory Stick Pro amount to only be on the lower range of this new format, with 64 gigabytes being much more likely. I'm really psyched about the NGP, and Mr. Yoshida seems like a cool dude.

Seems like a pretty cool handheld but I gave the PSP a chance back when it came out 5 years ago and regretted not get the DS instead. I guess mainly because the DS just simply had so much more of a fun factor to it then the PSP did and that's what I really look for in a handheld console. However the NGP does still look amazing so I will probably just end up making my wallet very very angry and buying both. :P

i bet hgp will cost around 500-600 $

@firefek: The 3DS has price and POKEMON. (but we still have to confirm NGP's price to performance ratio. But I do agree that Sony, in a way is showcasing the NGP as more than the 3DS and Touch. Sometimes, I think that NGP is a super strong and intelligent child that came from when the Ipod Touch and 3DS had wild sex. The child mutated too and had a 2nd analog stick. Sadly it didn't get "auto stereoscopic" 3D from one of its parents. But, at least it won't tire most of the audience eyes and it has a 2nd stick. The NGP basically covers MOST, if not all frontiers for the handheld market. The only real problem is price and probably battery

I like the direction that Sony is going. They aren't trying to challenge either Nintendo or Apple, but are taking a different route that may undercut the other two companies in different ways. The only problems with the NGP for now are portability and cost. Battery life has been said to be the same as the original psp. I do like how Sony has created a device which is both powerful and especially that it contains probably the most input methods available in the gaming market. You have buttons, 2x analog sticks, sixaxis, 2x touchscreens, and mic. I also like how the touchscreen is situated on both the back and front, those gaming on the ipod touch know what its like to have your screen blocked by your own hands. All these would result in a lot of potential for creativity in new games to flourish, especially with 3rd party developers. Having console games adds to the draw of this system. I don't think Sony is being uncreative. Nintendo's 3d seems a little gimmicky to me, while the NGP would allow for some very creative games with all the input methods. I think they are actually being more creative by continuing with what they have while giving developers more options. After all, its the games on the system that count most, not the system itself. That said, I think the 3DS is pretty interesting, but I find it limited as a portable. It may be able to fit in your pocket, but the 3d effect only works when the machine is level. Without the 3d, there is not much advantage anymore.

i think the performance it gives is awsome but there is not much innovation in it the 3ds has 3d but then again many dont like 3d and would love the performance of the ngp

Just hope it isn't to expensive on release, but I will still get it day one.

my only concern is the battery life

I am very excited to see two really creative portable systems come out! I also found it enticing that Sony is focusing on taking your PS3 game on the go and with what @sidhu8888 said about it being easy for a PS3 developer to switch their focus to the NGP. I am guessing we'll be able to take a lot of big titles on the go (albeit with a bit of a graphics downgrade). The shear number of ways you can play the games and solve puzzles on both systems will be amazing! Very excited and I would be surprised if Sony sold the handheld for more than $300. Last thing: Do you thing they'll include netflix/hulu support and what about using this as a phone with apps like facetime (they released skype with video in Japan, but the camera wasn't used for it here)? If either of these things are possible I am sold (movies on a plane will be great!).

I think its promising! He says a PS3 developer can easily convert it to an NGP game! Also the dude from EPIC said it took a week to translate that game to NPG.. I think wat Sony will do is push major PS3 titles onto the NGP and that will no doubt boost sales of the device

@soulreaper-4 with all the respect, nsibbs is wrong about Nintento being pawned by PSP2. However your argument isn't much different in terms of rationality. First of all, by comparing PSP 2 to NPocket is inadequate, Sony has already proven to public they are a powerful, and persistence company which is able to provide continous support throughout PSP2's life period; second, Sony is capable of providing a larger thrid party supports alongside with some very prestigious titles including MonsterHunter, MGS, and etc. Last point I want to state to you is, anything at this particular point about price of PSP2 is and will be mere groundless guess, and remenber what ninteo fan boys said about the tag of PSP was going to be? Were they right? Competition is awesome in every aspect, you will cry if Sony gives up on portable systems, on the contrary, so will PSP fan boys. Sony is able to offer solid techs while Ninteo goes for creativity..

@ nsibbs Nintendo is not Pawned. They have Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong, Smash, Kid Icarus, Pokemon, Star Fox, F-Zero, Kirby, and much more that are just for their systems. By the looks of this PSP it will cost at least $400 to $500 nothing less, it is already looking like the SNES vs NeoGeo and Gameboy Advance vs NeoGeo Pocket. You remember what happened?

@sthbytesN Ricardo asked for clarification on that, and the guy replied that it would be proprietary a.k.a. a flash media system designed by Sony. As there was no mention of Sony's Memory Stick format, I think it's safe to assume it will be an all new format. That's for the memory, but the game cards will certainly also be a new format. Expect the memory to be slightly expensive in comparison to more widespread SDHC flash cards.

All these detail sound freaking sweet. I cant wait til it comes out and I can get it but the only thing that worries me that Yoshida didnt answer clearly was the memory card the NGP is supporting. He is saying Sony i developing a system but does thi mean we can use the memory cards we have already purchased or will we have to buy Sony produced memory cards only usable on the NGP? What are your thoughts?
