Uncharted: Drake's Fortune User Review

- The Bottom Line:
- "Revolutionary"
The game is a 3rd person action adventure shooter (a category that, I believe, a vast number of modern games falls into). It follows the adventures of Nathan Drake as he searches for lost ancient treasure.
Uncharted has the same enjoyable feeling that I remember having when watching Indiana Jones films. That isn't to say that this is merely a crude knockoff so much as that they have managed to capture the same feeling of excitement and adventure. That essence of fun that manages to slip through the fingers of many games and movies that concentrate more on special effects than creating something enjoyable.
Whilst on the topic of special effects, the game really did look beautiful. From the lush jungle environments to the overgrown ruins, everything was bright, lustrous and simply gorgeous. I cannot overstate just how happy I am to see that 3D games are finally moving on from their obsession with shades of dingy browns and greys and joining their bright and colourful 2D brethren.

Uncharted's promising start dwindles into a repetitive slog, but its great aesthetics and cinematics make it fair

Uncharted is a game struggling under the weight of its mechanics.
