You already know the ending if you watch enough Indiana Jones, but fun to play nevertheless.

I got the game as part of my PS3 bundle. Out of the box, the game offers an amazing jungle environment that filled with trees, and decayed buildings from the 16th century. All beautifully done. Playing this game is like a combination of different things: the platforming of Prince of Persia, the occasional interactive fight scenes like God of War, some brief cutscenes rendered in the style of Metal Gear Solid, and at the end of the game, some plain old Doom to complete the fun.

For the most part, the game has a straight-forward story line that you can probably see from the beginning. It's no Metal Gear Solid so don't expect plot twists or lengthy cutscenes or radio chatter. You jump around, shoot enemies, solve puzzles, and that's it. Talking of combat, some fight sequences feel so out of place. Enemies appear in places where you are "the first" person since the 16th century to enter. The ambience was chopped up pretty badly between silent, awe-inspiring platforming moves and intense fight scenes. The later of which gets increasingly tired about half-way into the game. (But they get better after that.) The key to good gun fight is, surprisingly, close up on your enemies and punch them!

Some people complained about the platforming part being too tolerant. I don't see it being a annoyance at all. The excellent motion capture made these jumps plausible and fun to watch.

The production value is quite brief. Once you've finished the game (which took 10 hours in my case), there's little incentive to go back. Sure you can come back and check out treasures and put different costumes on to Nathan, but the same old formula remains: shoot your way through the enemies, jumps over walls and solve the puzzles.

Overall, Drake is a good game, but not in the same league as first-class titles like Metal Gear Solid 4. It has some excellent gameplay moment and a gorgeous graphics that easily make it one of the best-looking games on the PS3. Good for anyone who wants some plain old treasure hunting fun, and be honest, whom of us weren't one, at least during childhood?
