A jumble of platforming, puzzles and third person shooting work well for the most part.

Uncharted 3 Game Review

I'm sure many Uncharted fans would know the quality of games they are, but I am relatively new to the series. It is best to keep that in mind when I do this review. I obtained this game when I got the Uncharted 3 PS3 bundle. I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I played the game, but what I found is definitely worthy of being in my (and others) treasure stash of video games.

Single Player:
Story: Just like in the previous games, the player assumes the role of treasure hunter Nathan Drake. He goes on a crazy adventure with Victor Sullivan (aka. Sully) and crew and face countless perils including, but not limited to a burning castle in France, homicidal men in black suits, pirates, a sinking ship, killer venomous spiders, a Middle-Eastern desert, and hallucinations caused by drinking poisoned water.

Gameplay: The gameplay is a mix of platforming, puzzles, third person shooting, and unarmed combat all of which are done quite well for the most part. The puzzles are not too difficult, but they are good enough to tease your mind a little and offer a change in pace from the action and fire fights the latter of which give me mixed feelings. When I first played the game it reminded me a bit of Indiana Jones and National Treasure movies, but the gun play in this game makes me think that Nathan is more of a homicidal jerk than a roguish hero. Then again, he wouldn't get very far if he didn't fight his way through those evil henchmen and those darn pirates! Other than that enigma the only problems I had with the game was the long loading screen when the game is booted up a couple of glitches in certain encounters.

Multiplayer:
Gameplay: I hate to say this, but I haven't actually played multiplayer. It is not that I haven't tried it is just that I CANNOT find any people to play the game with me online. Chances are people have moved on to The Last of Us for multiplayer. I have my doubts that I'll be able to play a round of Team Death-match unless I get some PSN friends or a second controller.
Overall:
A well rounded action adventure that I personally call a treasure of a game.

Praises:
• Great sense of scale.
• Puzzles change up the pace.
• Solid hand-to-hand combat and gunplay.
• Scenes of danger instill a sense of urgency.
Complaints:
• Minor physics glitches in certain areas of the game.
• Little to no people play the multiplayer any more.
